*** My Taxes = 50.49%. What Are Yours??!! ***

I just sat down and figured out what my tax load is, and was amazed. No wonder it seems like I don't have much cash for all the work I do.
Fed. Income Tax = 25%
Stae Income Tax = 6.84%
State and Local Sales Tax = 7%
Social Security and Medicare = 7.65%
Property Taxes = 3% (About)
Vehicle Taxes = 1% (About)
Grand Total = 50.49%
This is absurd. Think about it. Anything over 20% of what we make is absurd. But 50%? Does anybody know how much the tea tax was. Or total taxes to England at the time as a percentage of income?

Even 1% income tax is too
Even 1% income tax is too much!
You need to re-calculate
I agree totally that we are taxed to the hilt. But you need to calculate your Federal Income Tax as so...
10% of the first $8025.00
15% of the amount between $8025.00 and $32550.00
25% of the amount betwwen $32550.00 and $78850.00
more here.

You are probably closer to the 15% range of federal income tax as a percentage of income.
Forced to pay just 1% to a private banking cartel is pretty criminal is you ask me. End the Fed get rid of the income tax, no need for a fair tax or flat tax.
Edit* maybe your income is 250,000.00 in that case you would be at the 25% range.
TAX = DEBT = SLAVERY
"There can be only one permanent revolution - a moral one: The regeneration of the inner man."
—Tolstoy
"The body is but a vessel for the soul,
A puppet which bends to the soul's tyranny.
And lo, the body is not eternal,
For it must feed on the flesh of others,
Lest it return to the dust whence it came.
Therefore the soul deceives and despises."
And then comes inflation. The Dollar has lost 95% since Fed!
"Hopefully nobody tried to save any money over their lifetime."
Imagine some old people stashing away $1000 for an emergency in 1913, only to dig out their money today and find it only buys $50 worth of goods now.
They were forcefully taxed 95% behind their backs and their money was not even seen or touched by the government.

Shortly,
you will be working directly for the government, and you'll have to pay a tax to do it! The FEMA camps are going to be full, and if you collect federal money for anything, ie unemployment and SS, you'll have to go to work again to receive. Can you see this coming. We will all be SLAVES - mark my words!
They have their own retirement, BTW. It's called PERS - Public Employees Retirement System. THEY ARE NOT PART OF OUR SS! All federal and state employees are in this, as well as police, firefighters. teachers, servicemen & women; ALL GOVT. EMPLOYEES HAVE THEIR RETIREMENT SAFE. Even if an elected official only serves one term, he is entitled to this benefit for the rest of his/her life.
Don't forget the hidden taxes
One of the most deceptive is all the taxes which are built in to product costs, be it taxes on manufacture, transportation, storage, retail, and all the emloyee related taxes along the way. All of those are built in to the price of the product, causing an additional % (I've read 20% but can't remember the source) to be placed on all retail purchases.

Ever wonder why most small businesses fail?
Or why no one wants to start one?
This is why your plumbers are so eager to be paid in cash!

Ummm
You forgot other taxes too. Like cell phone, reg phone, gas, food, inflation, ect. I would say it's higher than that, assuming that they are really stealing your money. How can they do that when you have no real currency? Fiat currency has no incentric value. It has the real value of toliet paper or dirt. You cant pay off a debt with it, you can only pass the debt on to future laborers, it's a pyramid scheme, dependant on the next generation of laborers. No, what there stealing is every bit of your labor. You are a slave. The only reason to tax you is for control.
Here:
~ Until 1767, the East India Company paid an ad valorem tax of about 25% on tea that it imported into Great Britain. Parliament laid additional taxes on tea sold for consumption in Britain. These high taxes, combined with the fact that tea imported into Holland was not taxed by the Dutch government, meant that Britons and British Americans could buy smuggled Dutch tea at much cheaper prices. The biggest market for illicit tea was England—by the 1760s the East India Company was losing £400,000 per year to smugglers in Great Britain—but Dutch tea was also smuggled into British America in significant quantities.
In order to help the East India Company compete with smuggled Dutch tea, in 1767 Parliament passed the Indemnity Act, which lowered the tax on tea consumed in Great Britain, and gave the East India Company a refund of the 25% duty on tea that was re-exported to the colonies. To help offset this loss of government revenue, Parliament also passed the Townshend Revenue Act of 1767, which levied new taxes, including one on tea, in the colonies. Instead of solving the smuggling problem, however, the Townshend duties renewed a controversy about Parliament's right to tax the colonies.
When new taxes were levied in the Townshend Revenue Act of 1767, Whig colonists again responded with protests and boycotts. Merchants organized a non-importation agreement, and many colonists pledged to abstain from drinking British tea. Parliament finally responded to the protests by repealing the Townshend taxes in 1770, except for the tea duty, which Prime Minister Lord North kept to assert "the right of taxing the Americans." This partial repeal of the taxes was enough to bring an end to the non-importation movement by October 1770. From 1771 to 1773, British tea was once again imported into the colonies in significant amounts, with merchants paying the Townshend duty of three pence per pound. Boston was the largest colonial importer of legal tea; smugglers still dominated the market in New York and Philadelphia.

If you add inflation tax and
If you add inflation tax and every other tax imposed on goods it is probably closer to 85%

A more accurate and less sensationalist calculation would be:
Fed. Income Tax = 25% x your taxable income
Stae Income Tax = 6.84% x your taxable income
State and Local Sales Tax = 7% x how much you spent
Social Security and Medicare = 7.65% x your taxable income
Property Taxes = 3% (About) x the value of your property
Vehicle Taxes = 1% (About) x the value of your property
Add it all up and divide it by your total income.
Who knows, it might come out to more than 50%, as you're taxed on income and outflow.
NOT sensationalist at all.
For my property and vehicle taxes, I figured those percentages based on the $ I pay as related to my taxable income. Those percentages are the % of my income. I live in a very modest home ($80,000) ... admittedly in a state with very high property taxes (Nebraska). The figure of my vehicle taxes are figured the same way. I have less than $2000 savings, so obviously have to spend almost all that I make (yep, you got it, so I pay 7% sales tax on virtually all my taxable income after the other taxes are taken out). I do not live high on the hog at all. None of my vehicles are newer than 2000. So this is not sensationalist at all. And I am lower middle class.
You are counting only half the SS and Medicare
The employer is paying the rest on your behalf. Ask any employer; that is money which could go to your pocket. Don't be decieved by "employer pays". Ultimately the employee is paying the full tax.

Mine equal close to 30% I
Mine equal close to 30% I figure.
I'm certainly not poor, but lower-middle class. I live below my means, support my son and pay my own way through school and work 6 days a week. I'm content to live a simple life.I don't take the state funded healthcare for either of us and don't take handouts - I refuse to.
I feel like I'm being robbed. I can't imagine how some of y'all must feel...
Unsure...
it was a threepenny per pound import tax... although the Stamp Act, Sugar Act, Currency Act, Quartering Act and Townsend Revenue Acts combined were what propelled us into our first revolution.
With your grand total, you've failed to add your indirect taxes as well. Inflation is a variable, of course, as well as the many taxes you pay for commodities. You average paying 21 indirect taxes when you buy a loaf of bread, for instance.

I think it was either 3% or 7%
