Bible thumpers: Life on other planets..

0 votes

Hey all you bible thumpers -- and I say that with friendly affection -- if life on other planets in our solar system or somewhere else in the universe was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, even to you, indisputably, how would this affect your interpretation of the bible and the origin of life, and the story of Adam and Eve?

Obviously a purely hypothetical question, probably nothing that we'd prove in our lifetime, but I'm genuiney curious how this would be interpreted by the fundamentalists out there.

Clearly it would not mean that their is no god, but seems to me that the whole Genesis thing would be proven to be more of a symbolic fable, would you agree?

For Christ's sake guys.....(hehe)

We all know the core of Planet Earth is hollow and therein resides a species of life named the Vril.
Get it straight!!!!

But seriously....a Christian once told me that God is so powerful that he could have created other beings on other planets besides us and that they were not made in the image of God, being why they look so odd. Or that they are angels....! And some other jazz about Ezekiel seeing a wheel....way up in the middle of the air....and those were spaceships.

Some Proof of ET's?

Anyone seen this NASA footage before? They are quite remarkable if real.

I've been unable to disprove these videos- anyone want to try? I would appreciate some Daily Pauler input on this. If these are legit, then I think it shows fairly conclusively that there is something else our government is not telling us.

I love these videos...i think..

I am hanging out at a Ronald MacDonald House tonight so I can't get to video but if it is showing the "tether incident" or the blast from australia at an obvious ufo....those are pretty crazy.

The funny thing is that I didn't know about either of these until my Mom told me about them. She saw them live on NASA back in the day of moon sized satellite dishes...you know the ones that woke up the parents when you tried to find the playboy channel..LOL

I thought she was crazy and then did some research...now do this..

Compare the "UFO's" seen in the "tether incident" to these "Dropa Stones"...I mean look closely, especially at the second picture with the indention on the rear..very strange... http://www.subversiveelement.com/DropaStones.html

Or take a look at UFO's in Biblically based artwork.. http://www.geocities.com/jilaens/renai.htm it's there for everyone to see...open your minds people..we are but humans..very ignorant humans...

And last but not least...anyone got an idea why a UFO would be on a 17th century French coin? Just curious... http://www.nicap.org/ancient/coin.htm

I am a very strong believer in God's word, God's Son, God's plan for us...and no where in the Word of God does it tell me that none of these things are possible, or that we are alone. When we decide that we know it all, we have admited that we know nothing. It is all in God's word.

I read about how horrible my God is because of death, destruction, war, famine, disease...the list goes on and on.

God demands us to live a certain way, and we as His creation don't follow His commands...well...death happens. Anyone going on and on about this crybaby nonsense obviously doesn't read God's word so they sure as hell don't understand anything about God, His Word, or His plan.

If you want to understand...read it...don't ask someone to explain it..don't ask someone to tell you how to live... READ GOD'S WORD..it is here for us..sorry for the rant...I have tried to stay away and not comment on things like this...but it is hard.

We humans are to damn ignorant to realize just how ignorant we are.

I don't love stupid questions.

Hey, all you mathmaticians out there. What if we discovered that there really are new whole numbers in between the ones we named 1,2,3, etc. and that there is a whole new way of counting and accounting that makes your position of using the whole numbers referenced above seem silly? What would that do to your idea of mathematics?

See how stupid the poster really is?

I hate hypotheticals designed to divert from easily provable truth!

The only people who do not believe that Bible are people who have not read it, or have not read it much, or have been taught perverted doctrine from some phony religion or have some rebellion in their heart toward some specific thing God has said in the Bible.

I've been debating/discussing truth with atheists, agnostics, and religious people for over 30 years and it always turns out that they cannot take the truth and they quit discussing it. (ie., I always win)

Khomar says:

"Do you realize that in order for the Colorado River to have carved out the Grand Canyon, the river would have to run uphill? "

No I don't realize, or believe that. My basic geology course explained that the area went through a gradual regional uplift (from plate tectonics) as the river was constantly -- over millions of years -- eroding it.

It did not and could not take a 'couple of days' as you also mention below. Geological processes really do make sense if you simply consider the entire story with an open mind and a splash of logical thought.

not all aliens can 'ride the light'.

going to other dimensions involves that ability.

I've always felt...

that if you believe in God then by definition yo must believe in aliens, or extraterrestrial life forms. God by definition exists beyond this planet and is by any understanding extraterrestrial. Be it the Christian God, or the alien geneticists, or teenage martians out for a joy ride, there is life beyond this earth. Isn't that what salvation is all about?! Your soul departs this world and into another...By the way, God created man on this earth, why is an omnipotent God limited to creating life on this planet only? Maybe there are millions of other "men" on millions of other planets and we all have different guidebooks. Whose to say that on some other planet or in some other dimension the rules are all scrambled in comparison to ours. Man cannot fathom the ways of God, nor are we meant to. Your sovereignty stops with yourself, we have enough trouble with that as it is. Thump, thump, thump...

Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐

i'm by no means a believer

i'm by no means a believer in anything, but i don't think the bible says anything either way about life on other planets, except maybe for those weird wheels in ezekiel.

Although I am not a religious person, I do count myslef as a

Christian. I believe in creation. I believe in Jesus Christ. I also have a strong belief that there is other life out there somewhere. Why can't these beliefs all be justified? Even if there is life somewhere other than on earth, that does not mean that God did not create man on this planet. Even if man evolved, that does not mean that it was not God's creation. I think one of the biggest mistakes of mankind is his perception of "time".

Great Answer

I compliment you on your answer, it is well thought out, thanks. Let me say people mistake Christian with salvation. A Christian follows Christ like we are Paulites, we follow Ron Paul. But just because we are Paulites, we all have our own thoughts and beliefs on liberty and freedom. Just because people follow Christ doesn't mean they have a personal relationship with Christ and it is that personal relationship that means one is saved. A saved person is a Christian who has by faith trusted the shed blood of Jesus Christ to pay for all their sin and have invited Christ Jesus into their heart to be their Lord and Saviour. They then take everything to Christ, through prayer, they talk with the Lord daily, they have just as much of a relationship as they would a good friend.

I hope it's not divisive ..everyone is entitled to their opinion

I take no offence from those on opposite sides, as dialogue is what is important, to understand each other..If we are to work together we need to understand...NOT ridicule...CALL names & titles which can offend like the other parties do to each other...LEt's break those traditions & start our own tradition by respecting each others views on life...We all want the same LIBERTIES restored.. LET that be our goal not see who dominates the arguement ....I only want to help not bash & I hope you all want the same...There are NO dummies that want LIBERTY.

This is not

a question that divides us - this was a question on - Hey you guys - do you believe in life on other planets - don't take the question as one that divides, it is just a query.

ah but...

i can guarantee i'm not using the same definitions as christians.

god, satan, heaven, hell.

christians assume they have the correct definition. :)

No - I disagree and thanks for including me in your title

Couple of points:
1. You either believe the Bible or you don't (I mean mankind as a whole - not you specifically)
2. Genesis is an account of Creation - yet government schools teach evolution.
3. As to life on other planets - Clearly God has no need to tell mankind EVERYTHING - with that said, let me give you something:
Ezekiel 1:10 - Here Ezekiel is standing next to a river and God's hand is on him. God shows him something. The full account starts at verse 3 where Ezekiel describes what he sees from verse 3 through verse 28. Now I will not write it all out here but look at one small part of this description - You have a "creature" which has 4 faces on one head.
Interesting, isn't it?
Yes, I believe in the catching up a/k/a the rapture before the tribulation (because Noah and Lot were removed before the destruction). The world will blame this disappearing on aliens, I believe. You will hear more and more about UFOs, aliens, etc. over the next few years. Enjoy.

Noah was not "removed".

In fact, he and his family were the only ones left. Everyone else was basically "removed". I'm not totally convinced either way yet, but where my analysis seems to be going is toward no real rapture (the word is not found anywhere in the Bible) but a gathering up after the tribulation period. If you read the parable of the wheat and tares, Jesus is clear that the tares (weeds) are removed from the field before the harvest (Gather ye together first the tares). The wheat is meant to represent the believers and the tares the unbelievers. If you follow the parable it sounds as if the unbelievers are cleared away, then the righteous are taken up all during one final event. Then there's the matter of the final trump when Jesus returns, and that all will hear it and know he has returned. This seems to be a part of the same event when the righteous are taken up. If all know he has come, how can there be a tribulation afterward? Anyway, this video does a good job of analyzing the whole thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYmoRcCZ1CE
I think he's Seventh Day Adventist and he can be a little annoying, but the video is still pretty interesting to watch.

Noah was removed

from the flood and put safely into the ark and God shut the door. So yes, Noah was removed from the destruction.
As for the word rapture - I called it the catching up a/k/a the rapture. The word Bible is not in the Bible either, does that mean there isn't a Bible? Granted, God calls it, the scriptures.

The parables are only recorded in 2 books in the Bible - Matthew and Luke. God presented himself to the world in the form of Jesus Christ, the world rejected Christ & crucified him. It was all in God's plan anyway. Now I know there are anti-semites on this forum but regardless, it is the truth. If you look at it logically, God worked with the Jews throughout the Old Testament. The prophecies of the coming Messiah. When the Messiah came, the Jew rejected him (the four gospels including the parables) Christ died on the cross to shed his blood to pay for the sin of the world. After 3 days & 3 nights Christ rose from the dead. He showed himself to the Jew and some believed and some did not. Then this guy named Saul met Jesus and he got saved. Saul was a religious man, a Pharisee and God changed his name to Paul and he went preaching to the Gentiles. (No parables there).

Noah was protected from the flood

but he still lived through it. In the same way, it is said that the believers will be spared much of the tribulation, but it is not clear that they will be "removed" from it.

I only pointed out the word Rapture as an interesting side note and that it is a fairly modern term used usually in the case of a pre-trib event. Now whatever you call it (Rapture, Catching Up...), it is clear that at some point the righteous will be taken up, to be with Jesus and everyone else will be sent to burn in Hell. The question is the timing of these events in relation to each other. To me, it seems the Bible is talking about a single final event when both the righteous and the unbelievers will be dealt with at approx. the same time (after the tribulation). I'm not totally convinced of this yet, and perhaps it is just that I've always been taught pre-trib rapture and it's hard to let go of that. But all in all, I figure it is better to be prepared to deal with the tribulation and if the rapture does happen to come first, then nothing is lost.

Technically

Noah was in the ark and not in the flood. Regardless, I will not split hairs there. I Corinthians 15:51,52 and I Thessalonians 4:13-18 clearly show the catching up. Let me give you another thought to ponder. You know how God deals in 3's. What about the catching up of the Old Testament people in Matthew 27:50-53. See there are 3 (raptures) catching ups. Old Testament saints in Matthew, the church age in I Cor. & I Thess and the tribulation saints in Revelation.

Have them read "Genesis" and "The Book of Enoch"

Both deal with extraterrestrials.

It should be noted that "The

It should be noted that "The Book of Enoch" is an apocryphal book meaning that it is not in the official canon of scripture. It does have interesting elements though including references to it in Jude (a part of the official canon), but it is not generally regarded as "official" in the church at large.

You are mistaken.

The book of Jude does not make any reference to a "Book of Enoch". God only tells Jude to write something Enoch personally said.

Jude 1:14 "And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,"

Enoch is quoted, not a "book of Enoch".

The Book of Enoch is not scripture, not given by inspiration.
(2 Timothy 3:16)

No you are mistaken :)

Jude quotes 1 Enoch. Jude 14-15 = 1 Enoch 1:9. Verbatim.

The oldest copy of Enoch predates the oldest canonical writings by a hundred plus years. Very interesting book. Very Christological. Part of the canon of the Coptic tradition - which was maligned from the rest of the church on purely political grounds.

God is insane

I know this much.

God is an insane, sadistic freak, and we should all gang up on him and banish him to the depths of Neptune.

War, Suffering, Death, Disease, Torture, Pain, Poverty, Animals eating other animals, inequity, inhumanity, cancer, diherreha, and Bill O'Reilly (which often come together), are just too much for anyone to respect anymore. Face it, God is a failure.

The very fact that something like Dick Cheney can even exist, and get away with it all, tells you that God ain't looking out for your interests.

In the beginning, Man created God because he too was insane (first).

blah blah blah.. another

blah blah blah.. another discoherent rant...
