RED ALERT! HR 1207 is IN COMMITTEE!

0 votes

From Steven Vincent:

Ron Paul's bill to Audit the Federal Reserve Bank, HR 1207, has now garnered 55 co-sponsors and has been referred to the House Committee on Financial Services. This is a major development. The bill will now be debated and voted upon in the Committee and will then either go to the House for a debate and vote or will be defeated.

MOST BILLS DIE IN COMMITTEE FOR LACK OF SUPPORT. There is no way to know how long it will stay in Committee. That means it's all up to YOU.

It's a major step forward for our movement to get the House to even consider a bill which questions the autonomous authority of the Fed. We MUST make the most of this opportunity!

IMAGINE THE NEWS ON TUESDAY MORNING. “Flood of phone calls shuts down Congressional Switchboard”. YES WE CAN!

On April 25th:
Rally for Sound Money and Support HR 1207
at every Federal Reserve Bank and Office
(http://www.endthefed.US)

During the festivities on April 25th, let's maximize our petition signature collection efforts as well as educational efforts. Try to include a location which allows for interaction with the public in your plans. After April 25th, let's renew our efforts to support these bills and redouble our signature gathering.

On April 27th:
Audit the Fed! Melt the Switchboard Day
(http://endthefedusa.ning.com/events/audit-the-fed-melt-the)

On Monday, April 27th we will follow up our nationwide End the Fed! rallies with an "Audit the Fed! Melt the Switchboard Day".

We must all call in on that day and get EVERYONE we know to also call in to our Congressional Representatives.

The Congressional Switchboard number is:
1-877-851-6437.

Let's focus particularly on the members of the House Financial Services Committee.

Let's also call to PRAISE and APPLAUD those Representatives who have Co-Sponsored the HR 1207.

(See Co-Sponsors here: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-1207)

Spoke to Barrett ( SC )

At our county GOP today

I asked for Barrett for his support on HR1207, he asked "which one is that?" He said YES he plans to sign on as a co sponser -

I thanked Inglis (SC) for saying he would sign on as well, I was told Friday he planned to sign on

I suppose there may be a ton of bills and the Reps might not be aware of them till their constituents or assistants bring them to their attention

Also Note: several speakers and or candidates including Lindsey Graham, for some reason ( unnecessary and unknown to me ) mentioned Ron Paul, as in "I like Ron Paul" but he is not in control of our party
TE

This is working!

keep the pressure on and this will get to the house. I emailed Barney Frank and asked, based on his latest interveiw comments, why he doesn't take action on this bill now rather than wait.

Eight more added in the last day!

Proud Of My Congressman...Dr. Phil Roe..Today!

Dr. Phil Roe, of TN, a freshman Congressman and also an obstetrician who has delivered nearly 5,000 Babies, joined Dr. Paul yesterday as a co-sponsor of HR 1207. I wrote him and expressed my appreciation. Even though I spend most of my time in the Chicago area, I vote in TN and hope to be following Dr. Roe a lot more closely. Any other constituents who can tell me more about Congressman Roe?

email B. Frank and your own rep.

and keep this simmering! Politically this is a win-win situation for any Congressman.

that's 71 congresspeople

of the 71, 13 are cosponsors, and Ron Paul is also a member of the committee.

we need 22 more supporters in the House Financial Services committee. The people at the top of the list (in each party) are more influential, so someone like Kanjorski (he might do this), Waters, Bachus, King, or Maloney would be really helpful.

The people on both the House FSC and cosponsoring H.R. 1207 are:

Alan Grayson (the only Democrat)
Michael Castle
Lucas
Ron Paul
Manzullo
Walter Jones
Garrett
Capito
Price
Bachmann
Marchant
McCotter
Posey
Paulsen

HR 1207 Now has 71 Co-Sponsors!

This just in...the Thomas page has not yet updated and still reads 55...but if this is true then we are 29 co-sponsors away from a vote in the House Financial Services Committee. I believe that is the number of co-sponsors which generally requires that the bill be debated and voted upon in Committee (I could be wrong about that but I am pretty sure.) Let's keep pushing towards that goal!
HR 1207 now has 71 Cosponsors!

For those that have never called the switchboard before, could you run us through what to expect and what we should be saying in order to get our messages to the right people?

Thanks.

(If anyone else has experience calling the switchboard, please feel free to reply.)

?

I don't get it. Aren't ALL bills sent to a committee? Or does this mean the committee is actually going to hold hearings on the bill?

I just sent this to my Congressman

Hello Mr. Forbes, my name is jeff and I have lived in your district for a majority of my life. I believe you know my grandmother, we attend the same church. She sends her regards.I would like to thank you sir for your recent votes against both bailouts, as well as the stimulus package. Such Keynesian encroachments will only further erode our economic stability, and I am truly appreciative that you stood against that. I am writing today to ask for your consideration of a bill that would continue to thwart the expansion of government, H.R.1207. The Federal Reserve Transparency Act will help put an end to wasteful, unaccountable spending, and will hold unelected bureaucrats accountable for their actions. To truly restore prosperity in this country, we must take these steps away from the failed big government experiment of the 20th Century, and back toward the free market principles for which we once stood. Asserting your authority as a Congressman over the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve and auditing their enterprises would only further the cause of economic liberty, and I hope that you will continue to oppose the rather rapid expansion of government we have seen these last few months. Thank you for your time Congressman, and I hope to hear back from you soon.
