Obomba Signs Service Bill - "Volunteers" Needed

Yeah, so I have this Webster's New World Dictionary of American English. Here are but a few ways it defines "volunteer":

1. Supported by contributions or freewill offerings; not supported or maintained by the state;
2. done or carried on by or made up of volunteers rather than by people paid or conscripted;
3. arising in the mind without external constraint, spontaneous;
4. acting or done without compulsion or persuasion; done without profit, payment, or any valuable consideration

Need I go on?

but isn't the basis for volunteering, doing things for someone and neither asking for, or taking anything in return for your services?

If I go out tomorrow and decide to mow my neighbors yard, I'm going to do the best job I can do for them. I think if suddenly I think I can get money for school, I'll likely rush and do a bad job. When I do things because I want to, I generally take pride in them. However, when I do things simply because I think I have something to gain, my performance goes down.

Volunteering will never be the same in this country. You should never expect to get paid, or get some sort of kick back just because you volunteer. You shouldn't get money toward college, shouldn't get any credits, etc. You should only get the payment of knowing you helped someone out, and some day because of that good deed, the favor may be returned to you.

I for one, will never allow myself or my kids to "volunteer" and take payment for it, or get college money.

thousands more Americans dependent and loyal. It is a taxpayer funded propaganda arm of the Democrat Party. We will see massive slick advertising similar to the Obama campaign, using people's wish to "do good" to make them all conform as little voluntary soldiers for the State.
Foxy strategists, got to give them that. Then in a few years it'll be easy to make it mandatory unless the administration topples from the weight of its spending zeal.

The only way to counter this is to bring out the benefits of independence, not only to the individual but to society as a whole. I can see this is going to be a tough one, we need to do some good thinking. I look forward to Dr. Paul's take on this.
