Flu...keep kids home from school today (Monday)?

0 votes

I'm sitting here wondering if I should send my kids to school today, and leaning towards not sending them. We're in California, lots of Mexican immigrants in the schools, just had spring break, I'm sure lots of them were in Mexico, and what do my kids have to lose missing one day of school. Maybe we'll have more information tomorrow about the swine flu. Why take a chance. My husband is going to think I'm crazy. What do you all think?

you-no

Got a note from our Supt of schools

We had a track meet this weekend with all of the schools. A kid from one of the schools had gone to Mexico, came home with the flu and passed it on to at least 7 others at his school. This school was in attendance at the track meet. I'm not keeping my kids out of school, but I'm staying tuned.

Okay if you want to

Buy into the mass hysteria and panic, just like the government wants you to.

THERE IS NO SWINE FLU EPIDEMIC.

It's another hoax, just like in 1976.

Warren D. Ward, 48, was in high school when the swine flu threat of 1976 swept the U.S. The Whittier man remembers the episode vividly because a relative died in the 1918 flu pandemic, and the 1976 illness was feared to be a direct descendant of the deadly virus.

"The government wanted everyone to get vaccinated," Ward said. "But the epidemic never really broke out. It was a threat that never materialized."

going to school or not

My thought is,they are recommending washing hands, etc. but my kids are not mature enough to remember to do this. I definitely decided already they're not riding the bus like usual. If I don't take them right now they're missing school, I think I'm keeping them home. Better safe than sorry. I don't have work today either so I've been thinking about this since Friday, to give it a little time, keeping them out of school today. Now tonight my son has a baseball game. that is outdoors though. The schools are overcrowded here in CA. The sicknesses spread so fast in school. I don't want to take a chance. to the lady whose kid rides the bus with a kid just back from Mexico...like I said my kids aren't taking the bus for a while. Seems like a cesspool for germs in there!

I homeschool, but whenever

my kids visit a relative who has kids in public school, my kids end up sick. Hmm, and never when they don't visit. Keep them home. I often wonder why the public school system makes people think missing a day, a week, or whatever will really affect their education anyway. Of course I am of the opinion that the whole public school system is propaganda, and not preparing them for real life anyway.

I agree. "When governments

I'm thinking the exact same

I'm thinking the exact same thing. My kids have Mexican children in their class who's parents go back and forth to Mexico routinely. One child on their bus has a mother who rides on the bus with them during her visits from Mexico. The child was also in Mexico over spring break. I'm debating about what to do.

I'm not sure what you should

I'm not sure what you should do, but today's paper here in NJ reports that 8 students in NY have been confirmed with being infected. Seems this thing might spread fast.

...

Hey John, where are you at

Hey John, where are you at in NJ? I live near Florence.

Keep them home

Indefinitely. Homeschool them if you can. If the school gives you flap, ask them to prove to you how they can assure your children's health and safety.

You make sense

You are where the action is, there isn't enough known about this to tell you school is safe tomorrow. Why risk it? Like you said- tomorrow there may be more info- If I were you Id call the school, get their lesson plans or whatever homework they can do and play it safe : ) The EU is telling people not to go to the US or Mexico let alone California. No chance I'd send my kids until I had a better grasp of whats going on.

I think they are your

I think they are your children.

Yes, their lives are more important than the globalism.....

.

..........that's being shoved down their throats at school.

At this point, even if they are prepared for the corporate workforce, those jobs are going offshore.

They need to be at home with mommy and daddy learning how to tend to gardens and take care of survival skills at this point.

A McGuffey Reader or two wouldn't hurt, either.
