Air Force One and 2? fighters buzz lower Manhattan causing panic, evacuations.

Updated, 3:37 p.m. | An Air Force One lookalike, the backup plane for the one regularly used by the president, flew low over parts of New York and New Jersey on Monday morning, accompanied by two F-16 fighters, so Air Force photographers could take pictures high above the New York harbor.

But the exercise — conducted without any notification to the public — caused momentary panic in some quarters and led to the evacuation of several buildings in Lower Manhattan and Jersey City. By the afternoon, the situation had turned into a political fuse box, with Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg saying that he was “furious” that he had not been told in advance about the flyover and the White House facing questions about it. In unusually harsh language, the mayor criticized the Defense Department for conducting the exercise and the Federal Aviation Administration for being secretive about it.

Obama should park Air Force One in Symapthy

If Bill Gates and Warren Buffet can fly NetJets - a private fractional ownership fleet - Obama can too.

If a charter jet costs me $6,000 and hour flight time, Air Force One must cost $50-$70,000 and hour with all the extra stuff.

So when BO goes to Mexico he's blowing $1,000,000 to $1,400,000 round trip -- on the tax payers. How can he bitch about private executives spending money on private jets. At least they work for a living and produce things.

The presence of Air Force One understudy and a couple of F-16s over NY harbor should NOT cause several buildings in Lower Manhattan and Jersey City to be evacuated. Some people need to chill out.

Just stay in those buildings and wait for a plane to crash into it. Then make sure you stay put while that building collapses into its own foot print. Hell yes! What are those silly people thinking? (oh, survival comes to mind)
