PA Race for US Senate - Everyone in PA should know about PEG LUKSIK!!!
Submitted by dCarr on Wed, 04/29/2009 - 07:33
Arlen Specter Quit the Republican Party....
Now we have a chance to get a RP conservative into the US Senate.
Peg Luksik ran for PA governor in 1990, and got about 45% in the primary. She then ran as a Constitution Party candidate for Governor in 1994 and 1998, getting double digits both times... very impressive for a 3rd party showing.
A few of you will say she's too "Christian", but please understand that she will vote more like RP than any current member of the US Senate.
(EDIT)- her website is www.pegluksik.com
»

Don't apologize for her being too Christian
most of the values we appreciate as real Republicans are reflected in Christianity. It is the fake Christians that say that they are Christians that we have to worry about, guys like Bush.
Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must. like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.-Thomas Paine
The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!
USA was Founded by Christians.
Not any Jews as McCain would have people believe:

McCain is a criminal, sellout, puppet, and a liar. And, that's just what I know for sure. He violates the supreme law, he caters to big banks and does their bidding, and he has told many lies in an official capacity - he's not that much different from most politicians at the Capitol.

Ron Paul's Convention Speech
From a meetup email...
I spoke with Peg Luksik this afternoon via phone for approximately 25 minutes. Peg is a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate who could possibly run against Arlen Specter in the 2009 election. I have summarized most of my questions into a topic format and also summarized her responses.
JS: Monetary policy, the Federal Reserve, HR 1207 (Audit the Fed), sound money.
PL: Peg admits she is not an expert in this area. She is reading Creature from Jekyll Island and now has reservations about the Fed and any institution that functions clandestinely. She supports, at least in concept HR 1207, Ron Paul’s Federal Transparency Act of 2009.
JS: Foreign Policy, War on Terror, wars in and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan.
PL: Peg is generally not in favor of the Iraq/Afghanistan policies but stated that since we are occupying Iraq, she would not be in favor of an immediate withdrawal. As a side note her son is stationed in Iraq. She in not in favor of being the “world’s policeman” (her words) and feels strongly that there is no reason to attack any nation that is no threat to the US. She said that as a preventative measure we should be using our own natural resources and not “giving money to those who want to destroy us.” I asked her specifically who wants to destroy us and she side-stepped the question and reiterated that we should be using our own natural resources.
JS: Federal income tax and IRS.
PL: Peg is against the income tax and would like to abolish the IRS. She says she is reading about the Fair Tax. She would be in favor of an audit of the entire federal government.
JS: 2nd Amendment (including the militia clause).
PL: Peg is a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment as written.
JS: Size and scope of federal government.
PL: Peg is in favor of abolishing several departments of government including IRS, DHS, HHS, and the Department of Education.
JS: American independence, sovereignty, the UN, globalism.
PL: Peg says that while it is nice to have a forum where nations can meet and have conferences, the UN is not the answer. She feels that the US has footed the bill long enough and that UN headquarters should relocate. She feels the UN attempts to circumvent US law. She is correct of course. Peg is very concerned about globalism in the political sense. She added that America’s Constitution is unique and wonderful and she does not want it diluted.
JS: What Constitutional criteria will be used when submitting or cosponsoring a bill?
PL: Peg said she likes to read everything and that as Senator she will be ultimately responsible, though she admits that her advisors and staff, carefully chosen will assist her. She added she will do her homework on each bill.
JS: Do you expect any other Republicans will run in the 2009 primary?
PL: Peg mentioned three candidates as possibilities including Tom Ridge. See PA Republican website for list of possible candidates. http://www.pagop.org/landing1/
My closing comment: I think Peg Luksik is a solid conservative. It is essential however that she study monetary policy and I disagree with her on some aspects of foreign policy. I could support Peg Luksik for US Senate with some reservations.

Here he goes again
I voted for PEG before in state race ...Spector went back to where he belonged ..He kept a good conservative from serving all these years...LET the lines be drawn ...Moderates ONLY stifle a PARTY'S platform ,which is why today there is no difference between the partys...Spector will get torn apart this election..Many people only voted for him the last time because he had seniority to serve at the head of that investigation deal ...HE is a SPENDER on his pork..Lookout for the healthcare boom.....
you-no
I emailed Peg Luksik with some questions.. Here's her response..
I am from the Lehigh Valley in PA. I emailed some Peg Luksik asking her where she stands on some issues. Here are the questions and her response. Does anyone know if there is a Libertarian candidate running?
My Questions.............................................................
I just finished looking at your website. It looks great! However, I would like to know where you stand on the following issues:
Where do you stand on the economy? What would be your plan to fix our economic problems?
What are your thoughts on foreign policy?
What are your thoughts about the Patriot Act?
What are your thoughts about the Income Tax?
What are your thoughts about the Federal Reserve Bank?
Where do you stand regarding the second amendment?
What are your thoughts about the war on drugs?
What do you think should be done about the immigration issue?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Her response..............
As we move forward, the website will be including more detailed information on issues, but I thought I could at least briefly give you some of my positions.
Let's start with the economy. Everyone says that they are for economic growth, like everyone is for apple pie. The question is how to get there. I do not believe that increasing government spending grows the economy, but the reality is that just saying "cut a tax" is going to change anything. So while I absolutely am in favor of cutting taxes, we must do much more thatn that.
We need an overhaul of the tax system. We need to know REAL numbers on what we have, what we owe, who we owe it to, and what happens if we can't pay the bills. I am tired of hearing about the 4 sets of books in DC, none of which agree with each other. We need a real, forensic audit of the federal government as the first step to restoring sanity. Then we need to honestly look at the taxes Americans pay, what the goverment does for those services at what cost, and then fundamentally change the tax structure to free businesses and families from the crushing burden they are carrying right now.
We also need to stop the policies that enable countries like China to make money on the backs of Americans because they don't have to pay the taxes on investments that American taxpayers have to pay.
On foreign policy, I believe that my responsibility as Senator is to protect America and her interests - period. I would rather fight with terrorists in their streets than in our streets, and think that actively enforcing our immigration laws is a terrific first step.
I agree with keeping America safe, but have some issues with some of the provisions of the Patriot Act. I like the Constitution, and am not in favor of violating liberty to protect liberty.
I am currently learning the history of the Federal Reserve in some detail, and while not an "expert" on it yet, am not happy with what I am discovering.
I am a huge proponent of the Second Amendment, and have in the past been endorsed by Gun Owners of America and Firearm Owners Against Crime.
I don't like drugs, am not in favor of legalizing them, but think we need to reanalyze the best ways to achieve our objectives in that arena.
Libertarian Party
Will try to get someone on the ballot for 2010, (unless they really like a major parties' nominee) but ballot access is going to be almost impossible. The # of signatures needed is 2% of the last statewide election. The 2008 presidential race brought out massive amounts of voters, so about 120,000 signatures are needed. To get on the ballot in 2008, I think there were 25,000 signatures needed. it's usually best to file 50% extra.
Real Easy Choice...
I am from the Lehigh Valley; home of Pat Toomey's congressional district.
Look at his voting record. He is a neo-con in that he sees that government has a role in areas outside the limits of the Constitution.
A nice guy? Yep.... but his voting record is pro business to the point of corporatism. He has a High Finance work background and dismissed Ron Paul's warning on the economy. He will defend a company's freedom to be free of federal government intrusion but does not carry the same zeal for the individual. He is pro-NAFTA.
He thinks Ron Paul is inconsistent and his principles does not represent a serious ideology for the Republican party to adopt per the locall AM station interview. He stance is one has to make compromises to make progress .. and as we all know...that has been proven to be just a slower plane ride to hell.
Better than Spectre? yep..better than Lusik....simply No.
As a PA Resident I'll have to do more Research
On these two canidates. I appreciate everyones, comments, links and info. I checked out both of there websites and the one thing that is lacking is an issues page. Until I see where they stand on the issues(and how they voted on them) I am not jumping on anyones bandwagon...
Ron Paul 2012
PAT TOOMEY IS THE BEST CHOICE!
Peg is a nice woman but is not the best choice. In fact many of us who worked on Peg's campaign for GOV way back when were hoping she would run for congress. This would have been her first real and best chance at elected office.
Again, I love Peg. I know her. I have worked on her campaigns in the past.
However, I am supporting Pat Toomey for Senate this time around. He is a class act. When he was in the house he was also one of the few who served in the Liberty Caucus with Ron Paul.
Better still is that Pat already has a MASSIVE grassroots operation in the state and will have no difficulty fundraising. He almost beat Arlen last time around, now he will have the chance to defeat Arlen the Democrat instead of Arlen the pretender.
Pat is our best hope at having a decent Senator from PA and soon there will be at least one or two establishment republicans announce they are running against him.
Again, I like Peg, but I do not believe there is a path for her to win.

Ron Paul 2012 - It's Almost Here!
Did you hear yourself?
Same argument I heard with RonPaul. "don't vote on principle..vote for the one who can actually win". "Don't throw your vote away on a Ron Paul vote".
If we don't vote for principles - we won't get principled leaders..
Toomy does not have a MASSIVE GRASSROOTS effort behind him...just the power of the Republican party and state chamber of commece due to him endorsing Spectre after he lost his bid.
The party owes him now ..as he "endorsed" the party's pick of Spectre earlier.
" Via Pat Toomey" President for Club for Growth
Unfortunately, his stubborn idealism often takes Ron Paul further away from achieving the limited-government, pro-growth philosophy he advocates. This is certainly the case with school choice, free trade, tort reform, and entitlement reform, in which he votes against vital free trade agreements, competitive school choice initiatives, and tort reform proposals.
"While we give Ron Paul credit for his philosophical ideals, politicians have the responsibility of making progress, and often, Ron Paul votes against making progress because, in his mind, the progress is not perfect," Mr. Toomey continued. "In these cases, although for very different reasons, Ron Paul is practically often aligned with the most left-wing Democrats, voting against important, albeit imperfect, pro-growth legislation. Ron Paul is, undoubtedly, ideologically committed to pro-growth limited-government policies, but his insistence on opposing all but the perfect means that under a Ron Paul presidency we might never get a chance to pursue the good too."
how do you explain this then
Toomey's "club for growth" on Ron Paul http://www.clubforgrowth.org/2007/10/ron_pauls_record_on_eco...
Plus, he was a big supporter of the patriot act, and the war on terror.
He is a Neocon, in the mold of santorum
Thanks for the heads up!
Ironman77,
Thanks for the heads up. I am a resident of PA and I was just getting ready to start researching the candidates. This info is a great place to start eliminating one of them... I'm going to take a look at Peg Luksik.

Run, Peg, Run!
Yours very truly,
Schvenzlerman!
Who cares what religious
Who cares what religious beliefs Peg Luskik has? Do you really think she will impose them on us? NO. Do you think she will be able to make abortion illegal in Pennsylvania? NO. What is everyone so scared about? She believes in liberty and ran as a constitution party candidate a few times, thus believing in freedom of religion as seen in the 1st amendment.
Why not Luksik for PA Governor?
Pennsylvania will need a new governor, now that Ed Rendell will be stepping down. We need a strong constitutional governor for a change. Perhaps Peg would be better suited for this role since it already appears that Toomey is running for US Senate. Just an observation.
Agreed!
Agreed!
I Met Pat Toomey at the Philly Tea Party II on April 18th
While holding an End the Fed sign, and sporting a C4L T-shirt, I introduced him to the 5 principles of C4L, and HR1207. He was unfamiliar with us, and the legislation, but suggested that we are on the same page. He promised to "Check out" C4L, and on HR1207, "...get up to speed on it." Said that he knew, "...all about the Fed." He also said that he had a book coming out, and that I would like what he had to say about monetary policy...We'll see.
As far as Peg L. is concerned, I have heard only good things. First one to join and actively support C4L gets my vote....yeah right.

Ron Paul Machine Must Elect our Candidate!
Who that candidate is still needs to be decided, but very soon. Who is better Toomey or Luksik? There is no info at all on Luksik's site. She sounds like a Religious Wacko to me. Are there any Libertarian party or Constitution Party Candidates?!
I want someone who agrees
I want someone who agrees with Ron Paul on getting serious about stopping illegal immigration and opposing amnesty(aka path to citizenship) for illegal aliens. I can't find any info on Luksik when it comes to illegal immigration and amnesty for illegal aliens. I guess it means she does not care about these issues when she won't list her positions on those issues on her website, or she is afraid to say where she stands on those issues. For Pat Toomey, he looks better than most based on his past voting record http://grades.betterimmigration.com/testgrades.php3?District...
Toomey may not have listed his view on those issues on his website, but a quick google search brings up his past voting record onthose issues, so its easy to see where he stands. Who knows where Luksik stands on those issues?
The above issues I listed are not the only important issues to consider, but if someone is on the opposite side of those issues from Ron Paul, they will never get my support or vote.
Pat Luksik is my hope for our state
Being a resident of Central PA and despising Arlen Specter as I have for many years, I am certain many people can be convinced to support Pat Luksik. She believes in the Constitution and Bill of Rights and has stood for people's rights with her actions. Let's do whatever RP'ers do to get her elected to represent us. I just donated a chunk of change to her campaign. Anyone care to match my donation?
"Nothing is as it appears; everything is smoke and mirrors"
"Nothing is as it appears; everything is smoke and mirrors"
It's great that Spector quit (The Republican Primary)/P.P.
It moves the Republicans that much further right , I see no downfall here, Toomey may be the favorite now, but Luksik would be even better (and I am not from PA, but IMO they would both be good..am I rght (or has pat toomey some skeletons which make know for sure he'd sell us out..)?

Incredible, I love this
Incredible, I love this woman!
Anyone that wears their
Anyone that wears their religion on the sleeves and vote according within those principles scare me as much as anyone who is a big spender. I know nothing of her. That is my general position.
Why is she "too" Christian? What does that mean?
