Since the economy has shrunk 6.1% over the first quarter of this year(above the estimates of the experts),can we now call it the "Obama Depression " yet?

Since it dropped 6.4% in the 4th quarter, no.

I've been keeping track of

I've been keeping track of economic events on my blog www.propertyfreedom.blogspot.com and I do not understand why the stock market isn't crashing more after the past two week's worth of financial news. Tomorrow the Initial Claims (I believe it's the unemployment data) is going to be released at 8:30 AM (EST) - http://biz.yahoo.com/c/e.html and it should be interesting with this number comes out as I feel the unemployment levels are going to continue to increase throughout the year.

Oddly, with the GDP results released yesterday, I was again mortified how the news are selling this as a positive story. Yes, I have read countless articles and none of them seemed alarmed by the huge difference between the 4.9% to 5% decrease of the GDP to the actual of 6.1%. This is an astounding difference and it just makes me feel that there is an uncanny sense of optimism in an ever worsening marketplace.

it makes me believe that this "machine"...

won't just fail a little...it will collapse like a house of cards!

...did you get your garden out yet?

I think that I would rather...

take my chances in the casino. It's all a big game anyway.

Not me... The odds are so

Not me... The odds are so much worse in a Casino.
It's just a bit frustrating investing when all the market forces point to the market dropping and then it doesn't happen. That's one of the reasons why I like to look at the marketplace from a long-term mindset but play for the short term--especially with the volatility being so high. However, investing is for people who have thick skins as there are good and bad days.
