Climate change, economic upheaval and governments run amok. Are we staring into the face of our own extinction? Do we need to "Rise up and Fight" in order to 'save' ourselves? Or is this all a part of a mass collective awakening for humanity?

Count blessings
It's one thing to "put on" a "good attitude", but it's another thing to get a GOOD ATTITUDE, and I suggest you get that by counting blessings. Look for blessings to count.
Way back when, Gratful Dead concerts did "consciouness experiments" where everyone in the theatre would focus on a word, like LOVE or PEACE and try to see where the universe unfolded (it unfolded for people to run out of the theatre to see if they could feel the change LOL)
Well, I came to the conclusion that a good attitude is better than gold. A good attitude can get you through tough times better than tough times can hurt you when you have a good attitude.

One serious flaw with this type of attitude
I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree that our attitude is vital, and that where we put our attention is where we put our energy is where our results will manifest. However, there is an insipid lie in the notion that the Universe is leading us somewhere and all we have to do is think happy thoughts... It denies the existence of the malevolence that is ALSO in everyone. Now, most of the folks on this forum have put their evil twin to bed and don't let it out to play often, but MANY of the sleeple have learned to "just do my job" and never question the thing they call a "career" or even their favorite hobby. They do things like stock car racing even thought they know soldiers are dying for that oil they are frivolously burning, or keep counting out the pills the doctor prescribed, even thought they know the pills have terrible side effects, or the classic, they tell a "white lie" and pretend they are doing it to save the other person's feelings. Truth is that white lies are LIES, and we tell them to keep US out of an uncomfortable situation.
Anyway, I believe we are ALL equal portions of the Creator. We ALL bring a bit of the divine into this life with us, but we also bring a bit of the destroyer. Which aspect we nurture, which aspect we identify with and make "us" is part of our free will, but we all have a bit of both. To ignore the existence and effects of people who have embraced their "destroyer" is dangerous.
My recommendation? Think happy thoughts but keep your weapon loaded.
Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

As usual, paul4won, what you say makes a lot of sense on many levels. I would just like to add that our faith is something that will carry us through ANY storm. I have learned that no matter what the problem, if I allow my higher powers to lead me... and sort of 'go with the flow', if you will, and also BELIEVE that they will not lead me to harm, then as I work toward my faith inspired goals I have a great peace in knowing that all will be well. I have seen miracles happen around me EVERY DAY by living this way.

I'm not a New Ager. I'm allergic to "energy vibrations". BUT
Positive attitude is essential. I've found the best way to get my head straight is to think how my beliefs and attitudes are likely to affect my actions.
If being a Libertarian means that I can understand the economic/political "gathering storm" around me and explain it to those around me, that's great.
If it means that I can prepare myself in both financial/survivalist terms, that's also great.
What's not-to-love about that?

We all have to follow our own path, don't we? Mine is the path of 'higher vibration' (energy vibration), in that when I "go with the flow"...that is the energy flow (like following the flow of a river rather than struggling against it), I am assured that all my needs will be met! Why should we worry? When we can see that God looks after the simplest things in His creation, why wouldn't we have faith that He will watch over us, as well? But when bad things happen to good people, and that will happen from time to time, you can rest assured that there was a spiritual lesson to be learned.

I challenge the author of this to build me a computer from scratch with the collective knowledge he acquired. Chips, case and all--from scratch.
I can tell you in no uncertain terms, we do not inheret each others knowledge. We possess the ability to learn from one another, but just because "they" come out with a new hard drive does not make me able to build my own suddenly.

I don't think the author is talking about knowing everything like that, just off the top of your head. Have you ever wondered about something spiritually based, then had someone say something about it that sparked an uncanny knowledge of it deep withinin yourself...and you suddenly realized that you had already known the answer all along? That's having an "A-ha!" moment...as in "Oh wow, I KNOW that!"

Btw, I believe that Jesus' parables were told in a way that would speak to people in different ways, depending on their level of spiritual enlightenment. So, on second thought, instead of reading things outside of the bible more, maybe you should instead go inward...try meditation: it could lead you to a whole new world of possibilities.
