Census used GPS to mark my front door ??
Some of you may have heard the strange news surrounding the now on-going census. I've been reading 'rumors' and 'facts' from different web sources for a few days now and found it to fall in the conspiracy- weird news side of things.
I just talked to my neighbor who spoke directly with the Federal census man while he was standing on his front porch. It's true- at least in my neighborhood- a burb of Rochester, NY.
The census taker simply walks to the FRONT porch/door of every house and then marks his handheld GPS to mark the location. That's all he did here... my house included, and my neighbor watched him move through the rest of the block....
So let me ask all of you- WHY DOES THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT NEED TO KNOW THE LATITUDE/LONGITUDE OF MY FRONT DOOR?
Constitutionally the census is to collect the total number of PEOPLE- not names, birthdates, relationships,
etc. yet this is reportedly going on too, and now I believe it.
Something's not right.
Any input?

on another thread. I received an auto-message call from our town police a few weeks ago. The message was that the census takers would have a handheld GPS unit to record the lat/long. of each house. The census taker arrived last week - knocked just as I had gotten out of the shower! ={ "Just a moment!" He simply asked how many units were in the building (two apartments) and said that next year more information will be needed, but that was all he needed that day.

We don't get many strangers driving up our 1/2 mile driveway that is posted with No Trespassing and Private Property signs. My husband was in the garage holding his .22 rifle ready to go after a groundhog when she drove up. She was understandably flustered and quickly explained that she was here to GPS our location. I overheard this conversation from the kitchen, so I went out to ask her what the purpose was. She quickly handed me a 1/2 sheet of paper titled "Your Answers Are Confidential" which also states that we "are required by law to provide the information requested under federal law found in the United States Code, Title 13 (Sections 9, 141, 193, 214 and 221) and Title 44 Section 2108). I couldn't think how I could stop her from mapping us, as she explained that the only purpose of her visit today was to GPS us and that we would be receiving the actual Census form through the mail. This entire experience left me a little unnerved. We have Ron Paul signs on our mailbox, and I intend to check if our neighbors had similar visits.
