Houston Chronicle: Rand Paul Ready to Enter GOP Primary for Bunning's Seat

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Republican Rand Paul, son of former presidential candidate Ron Paul, said Friday he is poised to enter the race for U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning's seat if the 77-year-old sports icon decides to retire.
"I've been traveling the state and giving speeches as if there is going to be a race," he told The Associated Press. "Every bone in my body says there is going to be a race."

Rand Paul, son of Congressman Ron Paul, gauges support for Senate run in Bowling Green & Paducah!
Some politicians feel the need to travel to Washington, DC to ask permission to run for office or to obtain some regal blessing. Rand Paul, this week, will travel to Teresa's Diner at 509 Gordon Ave Bowling Green to gauge support for a possible US Senate Run. Dr. Paul will be there for breakfast at 7AM Thursday May 7th.
May 8th, Dr. Paul will go to Paducah to speak to supporters. He will speak at the Gazebo (4PM) at 2nd and Broadway.
Wouldn't it be great if politicians spent more time getting the approval of Kentuckians, and less time being "anointed" in DC?
We'd love to see you there; some of us still believe in elections not coronations.

I'm so ready to work on this campaign. We have been encouraging Rand to run since the primary.
While our legislature was in session, a few of my friends were in F'fort testifying on bills and got a short meeting with Grayson to talk about a certain bill. He seemed surprised when they pointed out to him that it was unconstitutional and cited the places where it violated our state constitution. Grayson admitted to them he hadn't even read the Kentucky Constitution.

It will cost more for Rand to win the primary than it will for him to win the general. So if there is going to be money bombs, they will have to be early.
Grayson's key supporters are in the North and that falls into the Metropolitan area of Cincinnati. That market, besides louisville, is the only expensive area to run in. Louisville will be a small turn out on the Republican primary, so the north is key.
In the general, if he wins the primary, he won't win Louisville so all he has to do is minimize losses there.
This will be doable if he gets in. It will be a long shot, but doable.
I give him odds of 10% right now if he gets in. Remember where Dr. Paul started out. 2% at best.
At the press conference where he announces his entrance into the race, the very next sentence needs to connect Grayson to the banking interest. That is an absolute must. If he fails to do that, his odds of winning plummet.

I basically agree with that strategy, and If I had millions of dollars I'd probably manage half according to Schiff's vision, and one fourth would be in gold and silver bullion, and the last fourth would be in property, but the property would have had to be purchased pre-bubble, say 2000 and below, or after 2010.

Well I've heard his clients were down more than 50% in 2008, and buying foreign stock in 2008 was a bad idea seeing how the dollar stregthened in that year.
Peter Schiff was predicting decoupling, and maybe he's right in the long, long term, but right now all anyone who gives him their money is seeing is losses. He has his share of critics too even Libertarian ones.

I follow Peter pretty closely... Sure, he's had people call on his show and tell him they were down huge. He's later investigated this and finds they are way over exaggerating. Although, one kid that was down, and who's data that Mish guy used in his blog ripping Peter for being wrong, was down huge. Peter investigated that kids acct and found that he entered the market at the worst possible time AND he invested in high risk/reward stocks. You can't judge Peter's investing advice over a 6 month or even 1 year timeframe. He's looking 5+ years. Do you really think total decoupling is going to happen in 1 year? However, hasn't it already been reported that China is overtaking the US in auto sales already? I'd say the decoupling already begun...
