What I did with the border patrol.

I was on my way between two southwestern cities and I knew there was a very good chance I'd be stopped at one of those unconstitutional internal checkpoints. However, I was in a rush so I didn't want to get caught up. So I volunteered proof of citizenship.

Here's how it went down.

I stop. Patrol asks me if I'm a citizen. I did not answer his question. I showed him my passport. He tells me he can't read it so I push it in front of his face. He tries to hold it and told him "don't touch my passport" (implying that I don't want his H1N1).

He asks me where I'm coming from. I tell him that that is none of his business, am I free to go. He mumbles something, that sounds like yes so I ask him more emphatically "am I free to go?". He says yes, and hands me a pamphlet about the swine flu. So I hand him back a thank you note (one of those things that come in packs of 20) that I had written up:

On the flip up side it says "God Bless America and her constitution; God damn their usurpers"

On the main side it says:

Dear Officer

Thank you for helping the US become a nation with internal checkpoints, like Nazi Germany and Communist China!

Shouldn't you be at the border?

And then I drove off. Actually I had a ton of junk in my car, I'm surprised he didn't try to stop me to search me. In any case, I don't know if he "gets" it. But I don't know. I feel like if enough people passing through checkpoints pass out enough of these, we might make a difference... By saturating the system we might actually get a handful of border patrol agents to "get it", and that might be the tipping point. Because they will spread the word and have some credibility. Although I personally am more than willing to go through the whole process of refusing to answer anything, etc, (i'm now outside of the constitution-free zone) the circumstances of this trip made me unable to do so, but I think the nice thing about this strategy is that more people who are not particularly interested in spending 30 minutes at a checkpoint can participate. And we might have a higher teaching:antagonism ratio; although it's critical that people continue to refuse to answer anything outside of counsel.

this is so

Fake. I call bull on this post.

I have a suggestion---

Would you make something that is less abrasive to pass out? For instance, something positive---such as "I know your oath of office is to protect and defend the Constitution and I would assume you love this country and want to protect my Constitutional Liberties." Maybe quote the 4th amendment-----and give them a pocket Constitution.
I am not objecting to what you did, and what you said was right on! But if you had another version with positive reinforcement of good policing, it may be more effective.

I think you are right.

We need to encourage a spectrum of items to pass out to border patrol. I'll put your idea on the website, in addition to mine. I think it will be important to make the agents aware that there are a spectrum of opinions from outraged to annoyed about this - but that all have in common disgust at the unconstitutionality and the unamericanism.

Where are these checkpoints?

I did not know we already have checkpoints. That is frightening.

Arizona is already a martial

Arizona is already a martial law state. Our state police were just recently federalized. (Thanks Janet, I can see that you haven't changed a bit.)

AZ has checkpoints on every border and several within the state itself, You have to go through a border patrol checkpoint on your way to San Diego and another if you are going to Los Angeles . . . . they have the commonly used back roads around these checkpoints watched, and I hear that there are new checkpoints being built there too . . .

I live in Tucson. The sky at night is patrolled like you'd see in a movie. At any given time I can go outside and count from 3-5 helicopters just in my immediate view. I've been spotlighted sitting on my own patio many a night by the Nazis in the air. I live near the base and watch the black ops choppers and planes fly in and out daily.

Yes, the black helicopters do exist, as do the TR3Bs that are commonly confused with triangular UFOs. They are owned and run by our government (and others perhaps) and I have seen them escorted from the base by several of our Air Force planes.

This is an idea that has the potential to catch on in a big way.

If you work on perfecting the idea (not that it isn't already "perfect," but just look to improve wherever possible) then make it extremely easy for others to do the same (maybe have a bunch printed up & sell them on ebay?), you might end up leading many hundreds of people in doing the same.

What you're doing is great, by the way. But imagine if you were able to lead several hundred people in doing this. The effect would be hundreds of times greater.

Anyhow, thanks for posting your story.

Ha Ha - You really got me

Ha Ha - You really got me chuckling out loud with first the H1N1 comment and then your Thank You for not cavity checking me note. Can someone make a PDF Thankyou card so we can all be prepared with a fancy note to hand these thugs?

bump

for a good idea!!

Hey yonemoto,

I think it's time me and you start a "thank you note" campaign....

totally.

Hah, I just amended the main topic.

It's a great "intermediate" level strategy that will definitely have the potential to get more people involved. I think at the very least we should create a website. If you're interested in helping, i have the next two months more or less free...
