Assuming the GOP does not change its stripes...

In 2 years there could be only 1 major party left (no pun intended). This will be an ominous guidepost.

No bailout, let them fail
They're no better than any other monopoly. Their resources will be re-allocated for more productive use by other entities... but all of you are right. The LP & CP could help one another by joining lobbying forces of state election authorities for more ballot access. Spirited friendship between the two would allow their combined constituents to choose between the two as they desire depending on their respective candidates.
The battle for the Republican Party.
The battle for the Republican Party is going rather well for our side. Articles are being written about our successes, Ron's appearance on Rachel Maddow went very well, and the recent GOP Pizza Party to try to remake the image of the party was a total flop. There is much to capitalize on atm. Plus, Ron Paul is winning converts in Congress, and he often has these lunches, and more representatives are beginning to come.
I'm no cheerleader for the GOP, but it's been a good week for us. If the GOP nominates a pro-war neocon scumbag for the ticket in 2012, then there will be a 2nd term for Obama. Should we get a Ron Paul / Barry Goldwater type, then we will win. All we have to do to win is show the world that we are now the "anti-war" party, and mean it. That won't work if John McCain or Mitt Romney or Jeb Bush is the nominee.
I can't tell you how many people I know jumping ship
It's like rats on the sinking ship... some try to get out before it's completely under.
I have co-workers who have been lifelong republicans looking to re-reigster as constitution party or libertarians, but are completely unsure which one to vote for.
It seems that the libertarian party has it's share of internal issues, but I believe the people as a whole who make up the libertarian party represent my beliefs better than either party. I'm just hoping that the party actually reforms itself. If the LP cannot throw out the neocons, how can we ever expect to gain any ground within the GOP? Many of us are of a similar mindset. I'm still working on the JRP (Jefferson Republican Party) as it would be a natural alternative. It's probably going to become more of a PAC than a party however, but at least it lets constitutional republicans be constitutional republicans.
I'm personally hoping the GOP implodes, as these power hungry neocons are grasping as what's left. The Bush's should just retire from politics for good- whatever party they are actively associated with will not win in our lifetimes going forward.

Peace, Freedom and Prosperity should be our motto as Americans. Keep the American dream alive no matter how dark or difficult our circumstances seem.

While I understand to some degree what you mean by
"neocons" in the LP, be very careful how much you blanket that assessment onto the membership. I've yet to encounter ANYONE who considers anyone in the LP a "neocon" at any level that isn't an anarchist at heart. Every single person I've ever spoken to personally or seen speak publicly about such labels, has ALWAYS been coming from the EXTREME far left, that simply found a home in the LP. Not ONE economic Libertarian I've talked to or heard from claims anyone in the LP is a neocon. ONLY those with a stick up their but about their pet social issue does so, and they are VEHEMENTLY INTOLERANT of anyone who disagrees with them. Their only saving grace I've found is that they refuse to initiate violence to solve their disagreement.
Labeling people does no good anyway. If you think someone is damaging to the party say WHY. And remember, it is ideas that do more damage than people. So try not to make it personal.
The LP needs to be a big tent if it wants to be successful. Far too long we've required candidates to agree 100% with a platform as some sort of 'purity' test. We should instead focus on a core set of principles and go from there, rather than make people jump 50 hoops just to 'fit in.'
However, There Will Still Be the Libertarian Party and Growing
The Libertarian Party has experienced a large surge in new members over the last few months as many freedom-loving Americans became disappointed with the Republican Party. Check out: www.lp.org

Yes, in Louisiana we gained about 33% this year.
And most of it in the few months leading up to the election. Unfortunately our candidate wasn't allowed on the ballot this time. But that's another story for another time. It won't happen again.
Let it die
There will always be an opposition party. That is why the NWO maintains the appearance of two opposing parties. I say let the Republican's rotting corpse die and then a freedom party can arise. Unfortunately the NWO will infiltrate it just like they always do and people will follow some good speaker, like Beck, back down the path to Fascism. We really can't do anything without masses of educated people. Unfortunately that will never happen.
Infiltrators
Just like they already did last year, by manipulating the Libertarian Party into selecting that neocon Barr and the even more rabid neocon Root as their presidential and VP candidates. Any last affiliations I had with the LP ended on that day.
Maybe, but we gained a few hundred members with
Badnarik on the ticket, and growth was non-existant with Brown. The Barr/Root ticket brought us about 1000 new members last year. I can't argue with those numbers.
(and nominating someone the media would have 'painted' as a pedophile sympathizer would have ended at least our state party for good)
There has only been one
There has only been one major party for the last 30 years! Dums and pubes have advanced the same agenda all that time.

No offense, I just think it's ludicrous to imagine the party will change its stripes at this stage in the game. They might do so on a purely rhetorical level...because the GOP knows what the people want. They will simply refuse to deliver it...because all the party wants is power.
The tea parties are a positive thing, in my opinion, but they will not lead to the nomination of Ron Paul, nor anyone like him. Not in the GOP, anyway.

You're probably right Kevin
For the GOP to survive they must repudiate Bush and purge the party of the incumbents which will not happen.
Thomas Jefferson once said, "The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground."
Well, I guess he called that one.

They've barely even criticized Bush.
In my opinion, they have not repudiated him at all. Read the conservative blogs...they are very delicate in their criticism of the last administration. Typically, they denounce "big spending" or "incompetence" without daring to use the word "Bush".

Bush's lack of leadership and the neo-clowns betrayed a lot
Bush's lack of leadership and the neo-clowns betrayed a lot of people. Most are turning their backs on the GOP because "they said one thing and did the other". The GOP itself has no respectability, they are court jesters. In my eyes the citizens are moving towards acceptance of key moral issues and the GOP refuses to listen. The key to the survival of the GOP is to demand cutting government spending, advocate tax breaks and increasing personal liberty. When given a choice between government intervention in their private lives and/or their pay checks, they know what to do. The GOP is learning a lessen, when you are anti-everything you better be pro-something.
