Not that it makes a difference, but I met the curator of extra-terrestrial objects once when she was shopping for a new robot to handle them. Moon surface 37.8 million square miles.
Divided by two since there's only one "near earth" side = 18.9 million square miles
Suppose the astronauts explored 1 square km at the time of landing (which I don't believe they did, because of practical issues, time, life support systems, and other stuff they needed to be doing).
That puts the chances of them finding this one object (assuming it's unique) to 1:18,900,000
Even if there were a million of these on the moon the chances would still be 1:18.9 or about 20 to 1 that it's complete BS.
Add to that what we know about evolution on earth and it's pretty simple to see this is a hoax.
The moon landing itself may have been a hoax in which case the chances of discovery would be zero. (look up moon landing hoax).

It's certainly easier on the eyes than the other big discovery
announced this week ( the missing link) . Curiously, there is no shortage of credible testimony from astronauts, CIA personnel and other sources who claim to have seen actual structures on the backside of the moon (or classified pictures of them). This statue-thingie just seems too...wet dreamy ...to not be a hoax. I'll watch with mild+ interest as it unfolds.

200,000 year Old Statue Found on the Moon
It does appear NASA itself confirms there was a Charles Morris who was a kind of expert, and an ateroid was even named after him in 1988.
I am not saying that the story is true, but there appears to be a Charles Morris.
If the webpage is updated, it should say that he is retired (it does not say so) if he is the one in the statue story.
Could it be a real story?
Otherwise, could it be a fake story with a real guy's name inserted to ascribe authenticity? Decide for yourself.

Googled Morris Charles
I Googled Morris Charles as requested by another poster and found a Charles Morris in California that worked at NASA's JPL for 22 years. The name is simply reversed.
He and his wife are now professional photographers. His resume also states that he has taken and processed tens of thousands of digital photos.
I could not find any information about the NYU professor mentioned in the article anywhere.
Even if the facts in the article may be skewed, as you might expect from the WWN, does it negate the possibility of something like this may be true?
And did Charles work as a photograph processor for NASA? Was he perhaps in charge of doctoring photos for public viewing? Was he privy to any information that was withheld from the public?
This story only raises a series of questions that we should all be discussing.

I listened to Coast-to-Coast AM last night, and this story was discussed with Dr. Richard C. Hoagland. He said it is trash, untrue, Charles is a fictitious geologist, and this story should not be believed.
Be careful out there. If you now of anything else about this, let us know. I am only telling you what I know about this story.
