West Virginia GOP Winner Determined Within Next 10 Days

The following was sent in by user verbatim. Originally posted at Ron Paul Forums. Also see this story in the Charleston Gazette: West Virginia GOP still needs 1,100 delegates.

Attention! Urgent action needed! The winner of the West Virginia GOP "primary" will be determined in the next 10 days. This is because November 30 is the DEADLINE for people to register as delegates, and delegates will determine the winner of W.V., NOT an up-or-down vote.

West Virginia is an important state because it will be the first state to announce it's winner on Super Tuesday, February 5th, thus affecting the outcome of other states still in voting, such as California on the West Coast.

Imagine if Ron Paul could WIN a seemingly unlikely state? IS THIS POSSIBLE!?!? Yes. But we need a massive effort to inform people. The current delegate count in West Virginia:

Fred Thompson
62

Mitt Romney
62

Ron Paul
49

Rudy Giuliani
46

John McCain
9

Mike Huckabee
6

Duncan Hunter
4

Uncommitted

Currently, Ron Paul delegates only make up 7.8% of the entire county-at-large (regular GOP members) delegation. There are 29 county-at-large RP delegates out of 372 total county-at-large delegates. We have the potential to fill every county-at-large delegate slot, BUT ONLY IF WE TAKE ACTION AND INFORM.

Please post here if you are willing to help contact Meetup members about becoming delegates. You can refer them to:

http://www.ronpaulwv.com/

I need people to help me contact W.V. Meetup members with messages specifically tailored towards them and their location (for example, if they state they are from Hampshire County, inform them that Ron Paul needs 5 supporters to run as delegates in Hampshire County).

Any takers?

I also need people to help me bug the campaign about letting us phone bank West Virginia Ron Paul supporters using the telephone #s they voluntarily gave online at RonPaul2008.com. This is important. Anyone with campaign contacts? If we could get a ph# list of RP supporters in WV, it would be VERY easy to make the calls because they are KNOWN Paul supporters. And we could get enough delegates to WIN the state.

It's all about voter mobilization.

You know that.

Now take action.

Has anyone counted the final total?

Ron Paul has 69 now. Currently there are 614 total delegates.

Update!

65 Mitt Romney
63 Ron Paul
63 Fred Thompson

Love it!

Which is to say

I love RP beating Thompson now, NOT Romney having more delegates...

Just counted....

63 for RP. IT was a quick count though. Don't know where the other candidates are though.

Just kicked in $20...

Would love to see a strong showing in WV as Im a former Mountaineer...

sticky on top

Doesn't this need to stay on top until we get all the delegates we need?

Come on, WV

We're counting on you! Keep 'em coming. Fred Thompson made the wise guy remark that the Ron Paul people don't understand how to win an election (suggesting that we are foolish), as we don't have many delegates. Let's not make old Fred correct. He's not a great actor, and a far worse politician. (or good politician if you like Corparatism).

Bob W., Naples, FL

No....

No, Fred meant that Ron Paul supporters don't know how to win an election because Ron Paul supporters don't know how to kiss the right corporate ass like Fred Thompson does. And poor Fred looks like he's had his wrinkled face up in someone's hiney a bit too long.

Keep it up!

This can be done!

The mainstream media is dead.

Just counted

56 delegates for Ron Paul. I would probably need verification on that plus the other candidates' numbers if someone gets the chance.

Hahahaha..

This guy just dug his own grave come next election.

My gawd! I could hardly stop laughing at that whiny bit you linked to.
Good grief, if that's not a stereotypical image of a pouty-lipped kid yelling for us to return 'm his precious ball than I don't know what is. LOL!

cookie primary

The cookie primary is on now @

http://www.yankeemagazine.com/cookieprimary/

Carol Paul is currently leading @ a mere 95%.
Her closest rival is Mitt Rumney @ a threatening 1%.
Third place is currently held in a tie by all the others @ 0%.
Be sure to vote. Mitt is closing in. He may have 2% soon.

Go Carol Paul!
Go Ron Paul!

This should be done by the campaign

I think it's great that so many people have expressed interest in getting involved in this issue, but it's disappointing that the campaign hasn't done something about it. They've had months to address this - where's the direction and leadership? It shouldn't fall on the grassroots people to realize there's a problem. This seems like simple administrative stuff that I would expect a campaign to be driving, not sitting on their hands.

RE: This should be done by the campaign

Is this comment in response to West Virginia or the cookie primary?

Revolutions don't have

Revolutions don't have centralized planning, this is true for ours as well. Either we man up, or this will be remembered as a rebellion.

Done By The Campaign??

Actually, I think the Ron Paul campaign has a paid staffer in WV working on getting delegates. I recently signed up to be a delegate and got help from "Gabriel" who I think is an official worker. E-mails requesting help or information are answered almost immediately.

jmeagan

That's good to hear

I'm glad they're on top of this now, and maybe it's a question of focusing resources or previously not having the funds to support efforts in states other than the earliest few. My point was that if this was so important, somebody with the campaign should have been reaching out to all of the Meetup groups in West Virginia (and all states) 6 months ago and made this a top priority. Maybe they did this, but the results aren't there (it seems like we've increased the delegate count from 49 to 56 in only a day). I agree with the previous poster that this will always be a grassroots effort, but even grassroots need direction and focus.

WV Primary

All WV Ron Paul supporters need to register on line to be able to vote for the at large delegates by Nov. 30th. (Well some counties will have local conventions, but most will have only on line voting.) This vote will occur in January. If you can't become a delegate yourself, you still need to register to vote on line to help the Ron Paul delegates to get to the state convention.

jmeagan

This needs to go back to the front page.

It's fallen off and new visitors need to see it.

Ron Paul "Sign Wave Across the USA" -- November 5th!

Can we find the phone numbers

for the people listed as 'uncommitted' on the WVGOP convention page?
http://www.wvgopconvention.com/delegate/contentview.asp?c=42045
When you click on 'View delegate registrations', a list of names and addresses comes up, along with how they're voting. Lots of 'uncommitted' people. We could call directly, or send snail mail from states that are close by so they'll get there in time. Being in MN, I doubt mailing would work for me...

Ok

I see that's for mailings to legislature and public works. What about the people listed on the page I mentioned above? Aren't they just 'regular folk'?
Can we get to them?

Yes, we can. On the very

Yes, we can. On the very bottom if enough is raised they too will receive a mailing. By 'regular folk' are you talking about those of us WV regular folk running for delegates right?
I already put down $150 for this chip in and will do more if need to reach those good people.
I have family and friends for the first time taking action in politics to help get WV to go for Dr. Paul. Anything positive like this chip in is great help push things in our favor. Please if you decide to do something, remember these are real, hard working, and honest, people here (in WV) and they want to decide who they wish to vote for not told but positive information showing them one of their choices is real America hero won't hurt.

Travis

Thanks for the reply Travis. My concern was getting the uncommitted delegates (yes, the regular folk) to take a look at RP. The way I read the chip in page looked to me like people in legislature and public works were getting the mailings, but not the delegates. Thanks for clearing this up. On my way to chip in...

**the soul would have no rainbow if the eyes had no tears**

I too, am willing

to help call during the day or evenings until Nov. 30th. I was moved to tears to finally see people who are participating in the process indicate on paper, not just the Internet, that they are supporting Ron Paul. The transfer has begun--the revolution is on the move from cyberspace to a county or state near you. We are going to prove all the pundits absolutely 100% WRONG--the support will transfer and Dr. Paul will be victorious!! Liberty and freedom are alive and well and growing stronger every day!! They are getting ready to take back the country!! Go Dr. Paul!!

I posted on the student forum. . .

and sent $50 to the WV ChipIn. What next?

Are you from WV or near there?

I'm in high school and I'm signed up to be a delegate for Ron Paul. I hope Ron will come and speak to the convention on super Tuesday.

If no one thinks you're crazy, you're not dreaming big enough.

Great for you!!!

I'm not sure what the problem is in West V., but with help like yours, I think we'll get 'er done! Try and get a few buddies to sign up like you did.

Take Action Now.

Money bomb date for USS West Virginia is December 7th. Those sneeky imperial neo-cons are trying to sink the ship with a pre-emptive military strike. Man your battle stations. They will be coming out of the rising sun. Don't shoot until you see the whites of their eys.

DIGG THE SH*T OUT OF THIS

http://digg.com/politics/Ron_Paul_Needs_Help_in_West_Virginia Help digg that so it gets more attention! I'm from Texas BTW so this is the best I can do!

From a WV Meetup Organizer

Thanks for taking interest in us and lending a hand, but PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY MORE EMAILS TO THE WV MEETUP GROUPS! We are saturated with well-intentioned emails, but everyone who gets the meetup emails is already aware of the situation.

If you live out of state and really want to help us win this thing, please look here to find out how:

Thanks!

If you are all over this

If you are all over this situation, why are these positions still empty? My god, if these seats are just laying there and RP supporters don't drop everything they are doing and get this done today or tomorrow.....

Update needed first

Don't complain. The site hasn't updated the number of filled positions. Just wait.

What are the numbers now?

What are the numbers now? You'd think it would be relatively easy to get 9 more Ron oPaul Supporters signed up.

Tracy

Keep up the great work!

Sweet! Keep up the great work guys and gals, I think we're gonna pull this one off!

Vive La Revolution!

This is Urgent

I'm from West Virginia, and will file to become a delegate (along with a friend) before November 30.

Anyone who files to become a delegate is almost guaranteed to make it, considering not enough people want to become delegates in 99% of the counties -- the WV GOP still needs to fill over 1,000 delegate slots.

Almost half of all the delegate slots are normal people like you and me. It's all about voter mobilization. Even if only 1% of West Virginians support Ron Paul, if all those 1% became delegates then we'd win the state.

I don't necessarily agree with it, but that's how it is.

PLUS, the voting for delegates is ONLINE in the 1% of counties that have too many people wanting to become delegates and too few slots available.

West Virginia is basically rigged for Ron Paul, we just need to step up our efforts and get the news out.

Voting Online WV Delegates!!

Oh man, we are going to carry this state for sure if you guys vote for delegates online!

Come on RP supporters, you guys have to figure out a way to win WV.

How awesome would that be, to have one state under our belt before January even gets here? Hehehe.

Where Are the West Virginians?

Where are the West Virginians? Being from Western PA, I could probably come up with a punchline for that question...

But seriously folks, securing these delegates is a MUST DO ITEM. I'm going to feel really uncomfortable until I see a West Virginian chime in here and say they're working on this.

Not trying to be pushy, just feeling a little anxious......

Trust me were are working,

Trust me were are working, no reason to feel anxious but if you know anyone who may not have heard about this from WV please point them our way. If you don't know them but maybe a friend with family in our great state, call them up and have them point their family our way.
