Glen Beck, 5-7-09, on Montana Gun Law

0 votes

Ok, I admit I haven't watched the whole show but just in the 15 minutes I watched, you really see how this guy is so incredibly confused.

In the segment, he rightly praises Montana for the passing of the law, asserting the federal govt has no say in intrastate commerce. Judge Napolitano was there to cheer it on too. Then he has has two state legislators on, one from Utah and one from Texas, both republicans. These fellows are going to try to push similar laws in those states.

Anyway, as I am listening to some very good points, I could not help to think if these two would be doing the exact same thing if McCain was president...probably not, even though McCain has been no friend to gun owners.

But then, as the interview continues, it is pointed out that the Utah Rep is a former cop, which is almost an automatic "Caution Flag" to me. However, as I am sure there are some good cops out there, let's assume he is. Beck goes on to point out that Obama is going to cut benefits to families of slain cops from $110 mil to like $60 mil...and both Beck and the guy from Utah are outraged.

BUT, isn't there a huge inconsistency here? How can you stand up to the federal govt on the 2nd ammendment but then turn around and get upset with them for not handing you more money? Why is it ok for the federal govt to give this money to cops' families? Why does it all of sudden become the federal govt's responsibility to take care of the families of slain cops?

I just don't get it...but maybe that is why we really shouldn't trust Beck. Even if he isn't some puppet of Fox, he simply hasn't gotten to the point of the massive inconsistencies he still holds dear.

????

have they ever heard of life insurance?????

but I guess we should shell out some more gubbament money.

I can guarantee you Dr. Paul

I can guarantee you Dr. Paul votes against this Federal government program and I certainly agree with him.

What right does the Federal government have to give my tax dollars away to a family of a slain Police Officer???

Let me tell you something, if that family doesn't have a life insurance policy or some other protection in place to prevent financial turmoil after the untimely death of their slain police officer father, whose fault is that??? Mine? Yours?

Besides, with the morally corrupt Police culture we have in modern America, what are the chances that the slain police officer deserved it? Let me clarify, what are the chances that this cop has done something in his career where maybe he deserved to be buried early??? I know many police officers back home on the East Coast, if I used statistics from my own personal experiences, I'd say the chances are GREAT!

Let's be honest here people, you can't have your cake and eat it too. Which is it going to be, big government or small government... local government or federal big brother???

well I can tell you this

My dad works on cases where he decides whether or not (Along with the judge) a family gets money from the federal government for thier slain family member who died in the line of duty, and its a serious thing. I just showed that clip to my dad and he was outraged that they were cutting the money. He supports Obama too and he is outraged now.

Yes, I caught that too and

Yes, I caught that too and brought up on this thread:

I also emailed the Utah cop, Carl Wimmer, and praised him and then set him straight about what he said and about Glenn "Rodeo Clown" Beck.

If that wasn't intentional, I'm not sure what is....

Most people have no clue

Most people have no clue what real freedom is because it comes with absolute personal responsibility and they don't want that. They want a socialist hybrid cross of freedom on some things and governmet intervention on others.

First

I must be mistaken then that police officers are NOT federal employees? They are state, county employees. No?

Secondly, that little bit of money for police officers, which I had no idea would come from the federal government, is for DEAD police officers' families. It is not money that should be cut first and foremost. Wait to cut such a thing until we get down to bare bones where we should be.

I was very encouraged by Beck's program. Extremely so and he promises another tomorrow. I still have my antennae up, because I don't know why Murdoch is letting him do this.

Cut anything and everything...

Anyone catch what exactly this SCOTUS...

Case that Judge Napolitano was excited about is?....I'm on an oil rig and the office can get kinda noisy ....

Just to play devils advocate

Just to play devils advocate here...
ALSO A WARNING that this is a legalese and not just arbitrary comments.
The police are members of "political subdivisions" of the "Federal Government", in other words they are "federal employees", so it IS the responsibility of the "CORPORATION", UNITED STATES to take care of their employees, However, we all agree there should be NO corporation called UNITED STATES...

BUT, as each of you keep your social security number ?(and various other voluntary Federal government contracts) and claim to be a "citizen of the United States", as defined in the U.S.C, you are also federal employees, so it becomes your responsibility to pay into a pension program, and support your fellow workers....Also "STATE OF" is another political subdivision, so if you have a drivers license, or any other "STATE OF" contract, you can be considered a "Federal employee". People who use a zip code are ALSO inadvertently claiming to be in a Federal zone, which is why everything I have just mentioned above, is a voluntary program, which you apply for, and are NOT required to have! This way, you are VOLUNTARILY giving up your rights...remember the constitution for the United States does not apply to federal employees, or anyone living in D.C.!!

What brand of tin foil

...Do you wear to prevent the "federal zone" beams from piercing your skull? And is "WARNING" supposed to mean "warning," because you legal eagles like to also argue that words in all capitals aren't the same as regular words.

Trying to opt out.

Yes, I am trying to opt out...at least as I possibly can. I just want to be left alone, even if it means, moving my family from one economic class to another...never thought we would be well below the poverty line! lol

But, "legalese" or not, police officers should not be employees of the federal govt.

I'm with you on the inconsistency.....

But MAN that pumped me up with the news on the Montana challenge to the Federal Government being replicated very soon in Utah and Texas! I just wish I didn't have to wait till next January for my state legislature to reconvene..but this does give us time to craft bills and present them to our reps before they do...live in Texas or Utah?....call your state reps!!

And your right about it being unlikely that this would be happening if McCain had been elected - but hey - I'll take it - in some ways Obama is the best thing that could have happened to our movement.

"Pumped up!"

Yes, these movements, whether there is inconsistency or not, ought to get us psyched....also, maybe reserving a moving van to Montana?

Maybe I would be moving if I still lived on the left coast...

but I'm in Florida...and I'll be working on replicating it here ...(I lobby one day a week when legislature is in session) this needs to happen in every state...and somehow we need to wake up the anti-war left...and get them working on their own state rights initiatives...thinking ..thinking...

I might be in Florida soon.

I am a Florida cracker myself and may be moving back soon. If I make it back you will have to fill me in on what is going on.

Right on...

I'm in the Tallahassee area when I'm not at work in the gulf.....send me an email if you do get this way!

If you are being sarcastic

If you are being sarcastic here which I think you are, then shouldn't the question be whether the government has the right to take away from us to help the victims, however justified they maybe in their needs? You may see a personal responsbility to give aid, but shouldn't the rest of us be allowed to make our own choices, however wrong you may see them to be, and not be forced or coerced by the government to do so?

Every officer

should have an insurance policy paid by his force. That's it.
