The Pillaging of our Land: Senate Bill 787: Take Action NOW!

They have already accomplished their goals with the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact....this "compact" (Section 4.12 (5) defines even the Groundwater: The Basin surface water divide shall be used for the purpose of managing and regulating New or Increased Diversions, Consumptive Uses or Withdrawals of surface and groundwater.
The ENTIRE state of Michigan falls under this "compact". I suppose they figure that they got away with it with this compact, so why not go for the whole US! Just tell them NO WAY on S. 787...enough is enough!

I don't know if people realize how crucial this bill is. I'm not sure what the exact status is and I will work on this tomorrow - its too late to call the committee. I think it has been introduced - I hope it hasn't been voted on yet!

contrary to the basic principles of freedom, etc., that helped to format this country. Is it a perfect term, no, it isn't. Is it grammatically correct, it may not be, it may be and probably is a slang term. However, the bottom line of any language is the ability for it to be understood. I think most Ron Paul supporters well understand this term, hence its use. Further, instead of using your time to get nit picky on some linguistic term, why don't you use your time more effectively by picking up the phone and making those important calls against Senate Bill 787.

For everybody else, today would be a wonderful day to call on this draconian bill that really threatens our ability to even call property our own in any manner. For those of you that want to rant about the fact that the property isn't really ours to begin with because of all their funky laws, etc., I tend to really agree with you with great umbrage, however, we can only put out so many fires, so let's start with the most flaming, which is this motley bill. I think motley is a word by the way, and if it isn't, it is used in the name of one of my favorite bands.

just called the number again and asked about the law of the sea treaty. guy i talked to said hold on a minute and i can ask an expert on that for you . he then came back on the line and said no it does not have anything to do with LOST. take it for what its worth its from "the guy on the phone".

I remember when clintski was trying to pass the wild rivers initiative (?). he had a hard time because of state sovereinty issues. this is obviously amuch broader power grab .

question i just heard sometime ago that the aquifer for the great lakes area was being sold to a foreign company or country. i believe they would own great lakes as well. how can both the federal government and a foreign country own he water at the same time?

there could be a serious connection. Obviously these people are feeling desperate, so call, call, call that number and don't stop and call Boxer's number too and make it clear that Senate Bill 787 that she co-sponsored was highly inappropriate. Further, to clarify, the committee of which number I have posted supports our position completely, Boxer, however, is the chair and she is on the opposite side and wants everybody's water to be under her thumb. So, call her office, the committee, whose number is posted is MORE than happy to give you that number or transfer the call!:)

Admiralty Law. Law of the Sea Treaty. I'm bringing these up until someone comments about the relation of these to S787. Redefining navigable waters to just waters in general, my speculation is that it has something to do with Admiralty Law or LoST.

They told me that have "had significant calls" against this bill and would love more calls. Also, they commented that calling Barbara Boxer's office, who is the co-sponsor and the chair would be helpful as well. If you call this number I have posted they can forward you her office's number. So.............keep up the great work and have as many friends and family dial that number!

Well, guess what! It may no longer be "your" property. The idea of private property is private ownership, the idea of private ownership is the ability to manage your own property. Once you have any body of water from a puddle to a lake, it will no longer be under your control if this demonic bill passes! Please call ASAP! Make it Monday's priority!

We, RP'ers may be the only thing standing in the way of this bill going to the floor. Remember the people on the other end of that line really appreciate us giving our time and energy to stop this appalling bill!

land grab. If anybody is for clean water, I am, I've been drinking purified water for twenty odd years, long before the average person had caught on to it. I've also been a big fan of organic again longer than most people even were aware of it. The basis of this bill is to be able to give draconian powers over landowners with any water on their property. A good example of what this bill is capable of is shown in the case of Lynn Moses, please google him and find out what terrible injustice was meted out to him and his family. Once you read that, I think you will see just why this bill is so terrible.

Seems to me that it's an attempt to *prevent* "the pillaging of our land", or more accurately of our water by pollution-causing industries.

this is important.

because it now resides in committee, the only way for us to effectively deal with it is by having hoards of people calling the number that I have posted. Now, let's say that they pass it to the floor, that is exactly when we have to deluge our congressional representatives with certified letters and emails, and, at the very least, calls. This is the way the process works and the more familiar we are with these processes is the more effective we will be in effecting a real difference. In other words, we must ALL become experts in legislative and political processes in order to be successful. For example, the chairs of each committee are the Grand Poobah of that committee and often have total or huge power in which to pop that bill out for vote OR to pop it into a garbage can. This is why we must educate ourselves and each other in order to increase our effectiveness. So, have everyone you know call this number, and if they aren't open, leave a message, with your name, zip and opinion in Saying NO on Senate Bill 787!
