WND: Ron Paul was right
WND | May 11, 2009 | 1:00 am Eastern
Excerpts & emphases:
Less than five years after Karl Rove mused openly about the possibility of Republican dominance for decades – an idea which was absurd at the time – the Republican Party finds itself in disarray. The moderate wing is showing itself to be as RINO as ever, and in one case, that of Sen. Arlen Specter, the pretense is finally over.
But the worst mistake was the Republican Party's post-Bush obsession with so-called pragmatism. But, as events have proven, political pragmatism is anything but pragmatic! The party elite, supported by the party media, put forth one establishment moderate after another, starting with Rudy Giuliani, followed by Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson, before ending up with the worst possible choice, John McCain. (Ideologically speaking, Giuliani may be worse but at least the man can be confirmed to be sound on ferrets.)
These men were uniformly considered to be among the electable choices, even though the one man declared to be unelectable, Rep. Ron Paul, turned out to be the only candidate who actually won an election in November 2008.
This isn't the only thing that was strange about the Republican nomination. McCain, Giuliani and Romney were all considered to be more centrist on issues regarding which the country is essentially split. This meant that they were theoretically more attractive to voters on the left, while being less attractive to voters on the right. The important question, then, was whether they could pick up enough voters on the left as they were going to lose on the right? At the same time, they held positions that were more or less identical to Obama's on the foreign military occupations, immigration and the Wall Street bailouts.
Ron Paul, on the other hand, stood for positions that were extremely popular with the broad spectrum of the American electorate, as strong majorities favor ending the foreign occupations, limiting immigration and not bailing out the banks.
The electoral math is clear. Ron Paul was far less likely to lose the average Republican voter to Obama than John McCain was to lose the conservative Republican voter to indifference. No pro-life, small-government social conservative was going to sit out the election over the occupation of Afghanistan. And Paul was far more likely to take anti-war, anti-immigration, anti-bailout votes away from the pro-war, pro-immigration, pro-bailout Obama, especially since Paul's easygoing libertarianism tends to mitigate somewhat the effects of his social conservatism with social liberals. Even the most paranoid abortion supporter knew that what you had to fear from Ron Paul was a long and tedious lecture on the history of fiat money and the Federal Reserve, not his social views crammed down your throat.
So, Paul was a far more viable presidential candidate than the establishment moderates could ever have been.
But assume, for the sake of argument, that excitement over America's first Indonesian president was so overwhelming that Ron Paul lost to Obama in the general election by a margin similar to that enjoyed by John McCain. Would the Republican Party be in any worse shape now? No, quite to the contrary, it would be in a strong and consistent position from which to resist the continuous series of bailouts, to resist the extension of the Afghan occupation to Pakistan, and most importantly, to resist the tidal wave of federal spending that threatens to drown the American economy. Such a party would have also been well-placed to capitalize on Obama's inevitable errors in 2012; as it stands, only a complete meltdown in 2010 combined with Democratic failure to successfully blame the collapse on the previous administration will suffice to render a Republican candidate seriously competitive.
The problem with the cost of sacrificing your principles is that you don't pay it only once.

World Net Daily led the attack against Liberty! Neocon & Fascist
If you want to know the truth about WND you have to read this article by their editor, who led the attack against RP during the primaries, going as far as positioning Huckabee as the evangelist candidate.

Ha!
"These men were uniformly considered to be among the electable choices, even though the one man declared to be unelectable, Rep. Ron Paul, turned out to be the only candidate who actually won an election in November 2008."
Classic.
The word is: hypocrites, or hippo-crites, or RINO-crites
Which one do you like better?
you can digg
it here: http://digg.com/political_opinion/Ron_Paul_was_right_By_Vox_Day
WND has numerous columnists,
though it is run by Joseph Farah. Farah does have two consistant Ron Paul supporters as columnists, Vox Day, whose column is posted here, (he's a Christian Libertarian) and Illana Mercer, who describes herself as a "classical liberal." These two have supported Ron Paul from the beginning, and have consistantly emphasized their allegiance to his ideals. You can read the archives of their columns at the WND site.

Somehow I missed Vox's support for Ron Paul in the 2008 election cycle.
Better late than never, though....
Strange
How the truth comes out AFTER the primaries. Do yourself a favor unplug the television, put it in the garage. Cancel your mainstream media (of any kind) subscriptions. I think most here know where the truth lies and it ain't with anything mainstream. The rest of the world is slowly coming around. We cannot continue in this manner, I think we know this.
Just one last kick in the nuts, then a final deathblow
As I told everybody, even at the time...

WND Led the attack against Liberty during the primaries!!!
WND is a Zionist Propaganda Shill mascarading as conservative.
On February 22nd, 2009 borisimo says:
WND and its editor Farah are warmongering Zionists who miss no chance to be apologists for the Zionists and who miss no chance to spread their propaganda against Iran or anyone who doesn't support Israel's immoral policies.
They give lip service to the constitution, but editorialize in favor of those who oppose actually taking any steps to restore the constitutional Republic.
Be aware friends of these people trying to capitalize on the Freedom Movement. WND strategically used every trick in their hat to underscore Dr. Paul's success during the presidential election.
WND in my opinion is part of the neocon-zionist-one party system propaganda machine. http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=56177 (thanks neoconned)

borismo: Sad to read and see this storey. There seems....
to be no one out there that can be called "a given." I do believe that Alex Jones can be trusted, although he has an agenda as well. But we are discussing reading material...The power of the printed word, which can be used against anybody and at any time.
I don't know
about World Net Daily, but I like Vox Day. His book, "The Irrational Atheist" is a great resource for both believers and atheists, because it points out the atheist movement's inconsistencies based on facts and doesn't resort to bible or other holy book quotes, allowing some understanding between the two groups. You may download and read it for free here: http://irrationalatheist.com/freedl.html
you are wrong
Vox Day's "book" is one of the worst pieces of garbage I think I have seen. As high as his IQ may be it amazes me that someone can so blatantly misrepresent the authors he criticizes. I am sorry for anyone who takes Day at his word. Here is the first review found on google and I am sure that there are many others that show his errors:

I would pay a great deal of money to see him debate Dawkins. It is truly sad that we are such a religious nation. There is no God. sorry

"How can we justify to the unemployed and underemployed in the United States the incredible cost of maintaining a global empire?" - Dr. Ron Paul
The Rupublicans already have their leader....
The number of times RP is interviewed on the MSM network shows he is the one to speak out about the real issues in the Republican party and in Washington - how this guys position did not make resonate to a larger % of the US population i'll never know. Election fraud I would have to say.
.
.
NOW they figure it out????
How loud can we say,
"WE TOLD YOU SO!"
Thank you, Steve
WND is the ultimate neo-con website, in my opinion. Where were THEY in the primaries last year, when they could have been influencing voters to support Ron Paul?
I'm not sure if it's a good sign or a bad sign that they are singing his praises now.
Not sure if you are serious or not...
Some of the best press Ron Paul got in something closely resembling mainstream was from WND opinion columnists. I can’t tell you how many excellent Ron Paul articles from that website that I forwarded to people. Even Ron Paul himself is given a forum on that site.
Agreed.
WND crosses the spectrum of those on the right and I go to their site often to see news that the MSM refuses to cover and they often do a very nice job of reporting and they had some very good articles on Ron Paul throughout the process. They do have a neocon aspect, but overall I'd say the website is well balanced.
Wow, that's news to me
I stand corrected. Thank you.
My impression of WND is that they are neocons (longtime WND columnists Ann Coulter and Joseph Farrah are neocons, for example), so I gave up on them long ago. I didn't go to their site regularly but thought they were pretty solidly in the Republicans-are-always-right camp. I thought they gave Huckabee WAY too much publicity and credit. I should have been on your mailing list- then I would have seen the pro-Ron Paul articles, too. :)
I'll do more research now.
Yes,
and they are hot on the Obama citizenship questions. They do better reporting on that than any other source.
um..4GodinVA
You did notice that the author of that article is a libertarian.
I saw this coming.
When the desperate push was on to nominate "anybody but Ron Paul", I could sense that poor old worn out McCain would make Barak Obama a certain shoe in, and that's about the way it was planned. The world planners were laughing their behinds off. "Look at who we can get elected in America!" Besides, the way Bush wrecked the GOP, it was an easy call to see that the Democrats got their turn. The Democrat side is much more constructive in passing the official legislation they have planned for us anyway. Our Congress people are dupes. They know how the real game is played, but they go along with it for a reason, continued election wins and the spoils that go along with it. It's time to start defeating these people. That's the only way we can get America back. We as voters have to get educated, and hold these elected officials accountable.
alan laney
They're stating the obvious ...
Where were they when it might have counted?
Besides, I sick and tired of these "conservatives" who either believe (or like to make believe) we actually have a two party system.
Count on a Zionist Rag like WorldNetDaily ...
to state the obvious, when it is no longer viable. Remember, WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah was one of the first of the "trusted alternative media" to declare Ron Paul "unfit for the presidency".
This reminds me of the article they published in August, which Keith Olbermann so effectively used to discredit the "Obama eligibility" movement.
I hope RJ Harris, Rand Paul, Peter Schiff and others use this to ram down the throats of talkradio and other alternative media when they, inevitably, come after them.
I didn't hear about that
I didn't hear about that one. I just started to like that site too. These people have some serious nerve. Nowadays people don't care about the past. I mean, you can pretty much say anything in the media on the economy or politics and then say the exact opposite weeks later and nobody blinks an eye. It used to be the media's job to point the hypocrites out, now they help disguise them
Worse...
The ARE the hypocrites!
maybe
somebody could post the video of ron at the debates which he stated we would lose again in the elections unless we got back to core republican values,of course ron was right again.
considering the GOP has lost its way and is in shambles, this video could once again point out how ron was right and could wake up the neo-cons???
thanks!
Well said
Couldn't of said it better myself.

Great stuff!
This article is right on the money, and I emailed they writer to thank him.
And thank YOU for posting it.
"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
