Jesse Ventura was on Larry King on May 11, 2009:

Personally, I'm glad to see Jesse in the media again, but it doesn't sound like he's too excited about a potential run for office.

While I don't agree with a lot .....

..that Ventura says, he would be great for this country..

Raw and Real

I haven't commented here in a while, but seeing this interview I felt compelled to thank the poster. I had missed this interview. The stark nakedness of Ventura's opinions is such a contrast to what the public is used to seeing, it even had Larry King telling him twice to "stop with Bush already"... as if it was immoral or criminal to criticize the former President so directly. What a refreshing interview.

Those who criticized Ventura's statement on being willing to foster a relationship with Cuba as somehow self-serving are wrong. Ventura's previous comments show that he clearly understands that the US policy is what has allowed Castro to remain in power, and that support for this policy is still celebrated in the US as some kind of patriotic litmus test.

I like how even when King asked him to stop, Ventura didn't.

And he did it tactfully.

Ventura speaks simply and clearly in a manner than everyone can understand, he doesn't over complicate things, and does not let anyone push him around.

Once you know a little about Jesse Ventura, it's no surprise he beat both the Democrats and Republicans, and their $10 million dollar spending spree for Governor, with only $300,000.

From someone that had no idea who Jesse Ventura was, other than a wrestling clown, I began to learn about Ventura here at Daily Paul, and have now grown to respect him. The same could be said of Ron Paul.

I suspect many of those here putting down Jesse Ventura, still don't know much about him.

Ron Paul's Convention Speech

Gary Johnson 2012!!

Jesse is a great guy, but Gary Johnson is our man for 2012!

Where is Johnson at?

If he wants to run for president, he should start getting his face out there. It's hard to find more than a few clips of the guy on YouTube, now's the time to get something organized. Test the waters, so to speak.

When Jesse declared his wish to be

appointed ambassador to Cuba, my hope for him took a nosedive. It sounded to me like another political wannabe angling for a posh post with glamor, good weather, nice beaches.
Then I read through the thread and saw the positive spin Granger got out of it and other posters. So ok, I'll try to be open to the hope some of you see in Ventura.
I can hope too, that his acceptance of Obama's performance so far is tactical and not cowardice toward bucking the popular trend. Again, it may be the darker side of that SEAL training kicking in: obey your commander; I'll be watching if a campaign develops.

Jesse Ventura is the most

Jesse Ventura is the most realistic chance to win 2012. Even if he is not a big "L" libertarian, anarco-capitalist or whatever

I like Jesse

Brave,Confident,Independent, Not afraid to ask questions and think for himself. An advocate for reading instead of watching the idiot box. Oh and he loves to surf ;-}

"I don't want to be in a battle . . . but
waiting on the edge of one I can't escape
is even worse"

"I have found that being rich is not about having the most but about needing the least"

I find the guy refreshing.

I like Ventura, and I like his insults aimed at the neocons.

I am doubtful he's the leader we are looking for on the presidential circuit, though. I feel we need someone who splits the difference between Dr. Paul's 'milk of human kindness' and Ventura's 'testosterone steel cage drop kick'. Someone who can engage the camera with a steely gaze and speak truth to power, but doesn't have a tart tongue.

I still think of all the people I've seen so far in the arena, Chuck Baldwin is the best speaker.

I agree with you on Chuck Baldwin!

Debbie

here here! I voted for the

here here! I voted for the man :D

Maybe

Maybe Jesse would make a good Secretary of State for Ron Paul.

"I have found that being rich is not about having the most but about needing the least"

We need someone as close

to Ron Paul as possible. Ventura is too brash, Baldwin is too far right. We have to assume that Obama will be in his best form. We need someone who can appeal to both Pat Buchanan and Howard Stern the way Dr. Paul does.

What about Peter Schiff? Is he presidential enough?

Peter Schiff

is a great guy and I hope he runs and wins the senate, but let's be realistic here. If he does win in 2010, he'll have to essentially start campaigning the minute he becomes a senator. If he doesn't win, I don't see people taking a financial analyst seriously in a bid for president. I would support him, but realistically 2012 is much to see to consider Schiff a possibility, in my opinion.

Jesse's speech was all about

Jesse's speech was all about him?!?!??! Did you hear JOHNSON?!?!?!

Ventura 2012

Exactly what I was thinking

I like Johnson, but his 2008 speech was nothing more than a resume of things that he's done. That's not a bad thing necessarily, but saying Jesse's speech was all about him is ridiculous when you compare it to Johnson.

Good point.

Johnson is an ineffectual speaker if that event was any sort of hint.

SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA
Support the Constitution of the United States

SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA
Support the Constitution of the United States

you're right

i like Johnson and have been watching him for many many years. he is a ineffectual public speaker and his tv interviews are not much better. he would make a great VP.

“We have allowed our nation to be over taxed and over regulated and overrun by bureaucrats, the founders would be ashamed of us for what we're putting up with.” Ron Paul

People do not need a great speaker

but someone that does not have experience or insight in doing the right thing. Already have Obama for that.
Chuck Baldwin did not want to go in politics and has no political or business experience, apart from the VP run in 2004 and as presidential candidate in 2008. Baldwin and Barr together got less than Dr. Paul in the primaries.

Gary Johnson needed to introduce himself to many who many not have known him and though not a rhetorical speech, I find the contents of his speech very good. He went into detail where he agree with Dr. Paul, unlike the others and he has real achievement, two terms as red gov. in a blue state and transforming the budget form red to black in NM, not only cutting taxes and stand on principle (veto), but also introducing innovative free market principles like privatizing half of the prison system without firing anyone. I can see many parallels between Paul and Johnson, in background, intellect and also personality.

If you read Chuck Baldwin's columns, you will see

he has lots of experience. He's also highly educated, steeped in the Founders's wisdom, and is very courageous. The only problem is that he's a 3rd party candidate.

Debbie

Baldwin

is also Huckabee reinvented.... IMHO

How so?

Jesse explaining that he was waterborded and that CHENEY, excuse me, Chickenhawk Cheney was Unamerican by using torture? Seems to me, Jesse was telling by what authority he had to attack Cheney on air.

Hmm

His comment on losing another 30lbs kind of stuck out. Maybe he's losing weight to look fit for running for office again. When he ran for Governor he looked a lot better than he does now. Maybe he's collecting himself "getting his life together" for a possible run at something. Only time will tell I guess...

He also

didn't have that fidgety problem that he's shown in the past - rocking back in forth as he's talking. That was good to see. I wouldn't be surprised if he made those comments to see if people are still interested in him running. Let's recruit him and show him we're ready.

I really respect Ventura

Would love to have him in our group we are sending to clean up Congress.

Great idea

Does anyone know how to get in touch with who created the Rand Paul, Peter Schiff, Napolitano, and Kokesh sites and widgets? It was just last year that Ventura would consider running if he saw that people were ready and making action. Getting an "official" site would be great.

~~~~searching ~ for ~ the ~ perfect ~ wave ~~~~
At the Rally for the Republic Jesse said he would run but only if he had support and a place on the national presidential debate stage. He was pointedly proud that he was not a Democrat or a Republican because they bankrupted the country among other things.
In this Larry King interview, Jesse said that he is not interested in running for office and that it was too early to rate President Obama. He pointedly went after Bush and Cheney by contrast. He asked President Obama to be installed as the Cuban ambassador. That might work out for President Obama. It would politically neutralize Jesse but might enhance his surfing skills.
Jesse might be able to popularize surfing in Cuba.
i dunno...
something about him rubs me the wrong way.
at the rally for the republic, his speech seemed to all about him.
when larry k was introducing him he seemed to smirking or something about his "accomplishments."
then it was him saying he needs a couple of years to evaluate obama...
that was when i stopped watching...
Ron Paul is my President
Ron Paul is My President
that was awesome, thanks
