The army always is geared up to fight the last war.
The freedom movement is just as blind (should I say, "out of touch") as are government planners because, simply put, everyone looks to the past and not to the future.
I admire Ron Paul more than any other contemporary figure I have seen. Unfortunately he is also beating a dead horse, and is inadequate to help us through the future; nobody is because we are entering an unprecedented struggle for survival and government will suddenly become a meaningless idea, particularly at the federal level. There will be no federal government in 20 years, and the death rate will be so high that undertaking will be the best profession one could choose.
Why do I say these things.
Simply because civilization is base on agriculture. You are nothing but the result of energy that has been accumulated currently, or in previous times, and is now being converted to food. And without food you are no more. If you don't understand the energy problem and the food problem, then you might be prone to devote your life energy to the meaningless current political struggle; I say this is misdirected use of your life, because there will be nothing but the struggle to survive over the next several decades, and government will become a non issue. Feeding yourself in the collapse of the industrial age will consume your energies, and most of you will fail and die.
Civilization is a result of agriculture and current agriculture is based almost solely on energy. And energy, of which your being is the end product, is waining, and so is the excessive population dependent upon the exploitation of the energy savings account. We are in reality like spendthrift heirs going through our inheritance like the children that we are.
The big picture is that we left the stone age on the back of energy, and we will return to the stone age for the want of it. We will not reach the stone age in your lifetime, but we are headed for the way stations along the way, beginning with a quick return to "Little House on the Prairie" followed by a stop at Early American, only to return to the Dark Ages, and soon thereafter the new Stone Age. this unwinding may take a century or two, but most of you who survive the impending collapse of the Industrial Age will see "Little House on the Prairie", and relatively suddenly as the human population crash takes us down to under 2 billion soles by mid century.
So really this freedom movement is just a drop in the bucket of the history that is unfolding. It is just a last gasp effort of the few who think that the future will be a linear progression instead of a dynamic expression of the math of growth and decline.
If you don't understand where you are in history, you are likely to be a victim of the ebb and flow rather than a master of your fate. This "reclaim freedom movement" is just a meaningless flash in the pan, and the growing disinterest on this site is just a reflection of the disappearance of a spark that could have brought us relatively very little in the scheme of things.

Congratulations Liberty Belle on your daughter's accomplishment. She comes from good stock. You certainly have had your hands full.
We have missed you. Someone even posted something wondering where you have been. :-) I'm glad you checked in.... Enjoy your garden.

are still around, just barely posting. For me, I am just plain tired. Tired of psy ops pretending to be supporters (imo), tired of divisive posts like "I Hate Cops" or "I Hate Jews" or "I Hate Gays", et cetera. My local paper has had many articles of late SUPPORTING waterboarding and other torture...I find this to be very disheartening...and what's really sad is alot of those people profess to be Christians...
So, anyway, I have decided to stop by once or more a day, stay up-to-date on the real news, but for the most part, forego commenting...
at least for now...

That's been my point too
Then you get the idiots that start calling we old timers on this site - trolls like "BigMike" so you chalk it up to the new people will go away and those serious about liberty and freedom stay.
Granted, "BigMike" may have been around as long as me but he never checked the info before he started calling people names - so like you, I check in to see what's going on but don't post much lately.

I relate to some of what you say.
I'm tired of the divisiveness, and especially the posts from people who promote some sort of agenda that has nothing to do with Liberty, freedom, the Constitution, or Ron Paul.
More than that, though, I think the movement is in a temporary state of doldrums---unmoving, and without a rudder to steer it, if and when it does move again. Like a logjam of sorts. Eventually it will probably resume flowing again in a forward direction. Many things in this movement occur spontaneously, without pushing or prodding...I expect something along those lines to stir it again.

Anyone that knows anything knows a day does not make a market.
Human psychology being what it is, we tend to have a morbid fascination with bad news. Don't invest in Chinese export stuff like SIERRAHPBT ((smile)) JJA
Invest in the financial sector. It has to rebound the government won't let it fail. At fire sale prices, it only makes sense.
Just because the government
Just because the government won't let the financial sector fail doesn't mean financial sector stocks would be worth anything. Short term you could probably make a killing but you might as well go to Vegas in my opinion.
I'm to old to find out
I pretty much quit making big market bets since, "Black Monday", I learned my lesson, the heebs got the market rigged. I would of made more money shorting stocks.
The last time I went to Vegas (10 days - Monte Carlo) besides the cigarette smoke cashing my eye-balls (literally looked like fried eggs) the wife lost her limit for 10 days at the one-arm bandits the first couple of hours. Thank God the wife had Bausch & Lomb allergy eye drops.
I myself go to Vegas for the buffets while she plays her slots, but I was taken back how much they raised the buffet prices (I'm cheap). Then I had a big fight with the hotel, they wanted like $2 per bottle of water they left in the room that I thought was complimentary. Screw Vegas, and They are still waiting for me to pay for the bottled water.
The wife quit gambling after a few more experiences like the above locally at the River Boats and Indian Reservations - Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana. The last River Boat in Indiana, the tour company welshed and only gave us half of the gambling come-on dollars to get started money promised. The River Boat in Elgin, IL use to have a great buffet, good enough to write home about, but no more.
Once in Atlantic City, we caught the maid late in the evening going though our stuff in our room with the door closed. She said she was just turning down the bed and putting a mint on our pillows.

U.S. dollar drops to 4-month low
May 12, 2009, 11:26 pm EDT
HONG KONG (Reuters) - The U.S. dollar fell to a four-month low on Wednesday as optimism about a global recovery and concerns about U.S. fiscal health reduced its safe haven appeal, while oil held near $60 a barrel on hopes for more energy demand as inventories tighten.
