Joel Skousen’s World Affairs Brief

Critical analysis of current events is a complex process that is not systematized or rigid. All the information you see or gather is, generally, a combination of truth, half-truths, and error. Filtering out the truth begins with finding reliable sources, as well as critically scrutinizing sources that are known to have a specific bias.

Reliable Sources: No journalist or historian bases his writings on original material, except when relating what he or she personally experiences. This world is much too big with much too much going on for anyone to directly witness anything but a small fraction of life’s happenings. Thus, we all have to rely on sources of information. As all of my readers know, most of the world has become heavily reliant upon the establishment media. People are busy, with little time to study and analyze current events. So they scan the front page each day, or watch the TV evening news, relying on these easy, quick sound bites to "inform" them about the world.

Almost everyone who gets this minimum dose of daily news thinks that they know what is going on in the world. This is not so, even though the media rarely tells an outright lie. What writers and editors do is purposefully omit key pieces of information that would significantly change people’s opinion about what is being presented. This brings up the first rule in finding reliable sources. Search for someone who is skeptical of the official version, and who searches out key information that has been withheld by establishment sources.

It is fascinating to see how uniform the evening news is. No matter which channel you turn to, the same stories appear with the same general emphasis, even with regard to local stories. A common illusion today is that Fox News is significantly more conservative than the other big three networks. Not so. Fox is merely playing the role of the pro-government cheerleader, just like CNN did during the Gulf War, when it came out of obscurity to become an instant major player. That never happens without government ties. Meanwhile, the other three majors are doing their part. They criticize the current administration mildly, enough to satisfy the liberal opposition. In reality, however, they are part of the same machine designed to protect any insider administration, whether Democratic or Republican, from its strongest critics on the constitutional right. They make sure they keep the most damaging evidences of conspiracy out of the public eye...

This is my kind of Mormon!

He is obviously a true patriot and has the reverence for the US Constitution that all true Latter Day Saints should have.
He offers invaluable insight into how a man or woman with intellectual integrity can see through the mainstream media fog and discern the truth.
I still have hopes for Mitt Romney and Glenn Beck, but Brother Skousen is the real deal, right now.
This was an article well worth the time it took to read and ponder.(Atheists and agnostics are welcome to skim the last few paragraphs if they are easily offended. They stand or fall on their own without detracting from his main theses, but may add some credibility to those of us who are Christians.)

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive."

it was good until...

... he said "Satan has a pretty good track record of protecting his own on earth. "

He rants for half an hour about how to use inductive reasoning and scientific common sense to sort truth from bullshit and then starts talking about satan :)

>The fact that people involved in the conspiracy for global control already have more money and
>power than any man can use. Why should these continue to push for global control?

Human nature. Natural selection. Addiction to whatever makes you feel good. Sense of conquest and empowerment.

>· The generational affect. The conspiracy doesn’t fade or alter course after the death of key
>people. If the driving force were only an individual or a small group of megalomaniacs, they would
>be incapable of controlling the direction others would take after they are gone.

Effect, not affect. Given that condition A creates behavior B, it is likely that behavior B can occur across generations assuming condition A persists.

>· The fact that the globalists, in prepping the world for WWIII and encouraging a Russian/Chinese
>nuclear preemptive strike on the West, would also destroy the wealth and power of these same
>powerful conspirators. Why would anyone do this?

I don't think they plan to destroy their own power, but very likely they don't mind taking the risk - just to feel scared for once. Amazing what people will do to seek thrills when everything is guaranteed. Just look at gambling, bungee jumping, and so forth. Life is boring when it's good.

No need to invoke Satan.

Even though you don't agree, you may find it interesting...

Even though you don't agree, you may find it interesting how Satan came to be Satan in the first place according to LDS belief. At least you will understand Joel's perspective when he brings it up in discussion.

Beware

He is a good News source but he defends Romney

I find it very hard to

I find it very hard to believe that someone who believes in 9/11 truth could ever support Romney or any other mainstream candidate, even if they do share the same faith.

Skousen out right rebukes Romney in that link up above.

"Its a very sad commentary when a member of the Mormon church who has the only scripture on the face of the earth that warns America about these secret combinations, should surround himself with advisors that are a part of that secret combination. I'm not saying that Mr. Romney understands that, he chooses not to because he wants so badly to be elected."

This is the first I've heard of Joel Skousen, but I'm delighted to hear another Mormon who is in favor of Ron Paul and the constitution. I really don't understand why all Mormons aren't. I'll need to do some more research on Skousen but he sounds like he has his head in the right place.

From what Ive read and seen so far he sees right through Romney and Glen Beck's charade. He calls them out for what they really are, true wolves in sheep's clothing, playing on Mormon sympathies. At the very least Beck and Romney are willfully ignorant opportunists who are interested only in the pursuit of influence and fame, but that's not saying much either.

Here's a great article I just found on Skousen's site where he pretty much calls Beck to repentance...hard:

Good stuff.Thanks for posting photoshopwiz

That is not True!

In fact, he is very disgruntled with Romney. I'll post a link tonight of him saying it himself.

And indeed, a funny little story comes to me from CPAC, where Romney supporters were so disgusted by their candidate’s decision to suspend his campaign that they turned over their booth to Ron Paul and will be voting for Dr. Paul, too.

UPDATE: btw, I am not saying Joel is a Romney fan. He just doesn't place him in the dank and creepy 20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea level of McLame and Ghouliani.

Are there not some people on here who were pro-bush at one time?

I've read comments where people have stated they were pro-bush, but they woke up, got educated, and "repented" of such support.

Was I pro-Mitt one time? Yeah, but then some good LDS friends of mine helped me realize the scam he is and they also helped we wake up to the "awful situation" we are in and what the proper role of government is. Pretty much everything Ron Paul teaches and advocates. Fortunately for me, they did it soon enough that I was able to vote for Ron Paul in the Primaries.

Currently, out of all the other 2008 presidential candidates, Mitt Romney strikes the most bitter taste in my mouth. He is truly a wolf in sheep's clothing. He simply represents Romney's flavor of collectivism. Even if he runs again and get the GOP nomination, I will never go against my new found principals as taught in the constitution in the spirit of the founders and vote for him. NEVER !

I agree with most of what you say, but still think McCain and Giuliani the worst, with their support for amnesty and their high powered push for the NAFTA superhighway and a NAU ... along with the way they openly and disrespectfully laughed and mocked Dr. Paul onstage. It is absolutely unforgivable to me. And, pardon me, but who is asking you to compromise your principals and vote for anyone other than Ron Paul ... or Baldwin, Nader or any third party candidate as he suggested? Certainly not me. I am a former lifelong dem who lost half of her liberal friends because I can never go back since discovering the freedom movement two years ago. Fortunately some have stood by and acknowledged the sincerity of my beliefs.

I do agree with you, please let me clarify.

I definitely think McCain and Guliani are the worst. My animosity towards Mitt is more on a personal note and I don't expect anyone to share it. It's just that I still have many friends who still believe he will save the republican party and this country next election. Most people in my sphere of influence already know McCain and Guliani are duds. It's the one they are still being deceived by that is making it very difficult for me to help them see the truth.

Joel was a great guest on Coast to Coast the other night. Liberalnurse and I heard an exchange with the host ...

Showing exasperation with our government representatives who are blatantly betraying us, George Noorey asked him if there was anyone he trusted ... anyone at all? ... and he replied "Ron Paul" and George said he trusted him too.
