I went over to AntiWar Radio to see who Scott Horton had interviewed lately, and I bumped into this interview from yesterday.

"Anne Rand", wtf lol?
I thought Rand Paul was supposed to be named after Ayn Rand. Why can't he even get her name right?
ps. good interview. I like how Scott is skeptical of him.
As far as I know
Rand was born Randall or Randy and changed his name to Rand just after his father's 1988 LP run. So if one make any typo mistake etc. this automatically means someone does not really understand a writer? Sorry, this argumentation does not make much sense.
Well, it makes one wonder.
He may have an excellent grasp of the author, but when it's as glaring as that (ie. "Anne Rand") it does make me question.
And Afghanistan, wtf?
He would have supported a declaration of war? Whoa...Maybe sometimes the apple does fall far from the tree...
Ron Paul also
voted for the use of military action against Al Qaeda, so what is your problem?? The only logical reason why one could be against taking action against Al Qaeda in Afghanistan is if you are a 911 troofer, maybe you are?
Hey, Rand Paul has never held elected office, brings consistentent constitutional arguments and you want to grill him???
Say, why don't you run for office then?
That's not the same thing that Ron voted for Spec
Not quite.
Rand said in the interview that he would have voted yes on a declaration of war against the country. Ron just voted yes to House Resolution 64 which was supposed to go after the specific people involved.
Well, shouldn't someone who is supposed to be very pro-liberty be questioned if they say something blatantly anti-liberty?
You seem like splitting hair
have you considered that with "declaration of war against Afghanistan", Rand means the same as "voting, e.g. congressional approval! for the use of military action (that is war btw!) against Al Qaeda. Rand means Al Qaeda in this sense, thus he is saying exactly the same thing as his father
It is clear to me Rand meant support for the actions in Afghanistan, decision by the congress, not the president alone. Look at the context and stop judging to conclusions.
Once again: why don't you run for office.... question for you, since you are a big L Libertarian, does it not mean all the D and R voters are anti-liberty, to use your logic???
reply
If he did mean "Al Qaeda" by the term "Afghanistan", then I'd be relieved. We'll see. Hopefully he'll clarify that at some point.
I'm actually not a Libertarian. And no, I don't think that all D and R voters are ant-liberty. And I won't run for office cause I don't think I have a snowballs chance in hell of being elected, lol.
Spec, do you think that Ron would have voted
yes on a declaration of war against the country of Afghanistan? From what I've read it sounds like he wouldn't have. I know he he tried to push the letters of marquee and reprisal (no one bought onto that of course)...I'm skeptical that he would have went gone as far as Rand would have in declaring war on the country as a whole.
ps. I came across another video where Rand says that he would have probably voted yes for war on the country of Afghanistan. Link. (about the 2:35 mark).

ya
I didn't know he had a full "show." I was under the impression that he just did interviews.
Definitely better than the conspiracy oriented shows that's for sure.
How's the rest of his show?
I have never listened to a full show of his. I've just listened to a bunch of the mp3 interviews that are posted on ant-war.com.
Scott's full show is awesome, but . . .
It is my guess that he gets into some hot water for his rants. I like them, but some people found that saying, for instance, Dicky Cheney should be executed is not their cup of tea. Great show.

don't you just love hearing someone running for office - admit that foreign policy and economy are inter-related or inseperable ....

Good interview
I listened to it already hours ago directly from antiwar website, but it is also on youtube. I felt Rand Paul did a very good job. There are some criticism in the comments section, which I feel is unjustified and have made my own comments to explain Rand's position. Rand has to state policies in his own words, which he is doing. He is not pandering, but rather focussing on the issues which will lead to a universal acceptance in the GOP, while still going into detail. It is a good strategy to bring all back to fiscal conservatism.
answers
I thought a few of his answers were weak, but I expect to hear more as the campaign develops. I didn't like the pardon for Nixon thing, but sometimes you can't parse ever word in something like this.

bump Has this been posted somewhere else?
I don't think so
But thx for posting it here.
