Husband Lost His Job
Submitted by 2bfree on Tue, 11/27/2007 - 02:47
Hello, Just wanted to say my husband lost his job for puting a Ron Paul Sticker on his tool box at work. ( he made the toolbox himself ) They said he pointed out at work. They went back 6 months to find where he was 1 minute late. He worked there 9 yrs. This all started when he put the sticker on, he didnt last 3 days after that, he began to get hateful notes attached to the toolbox, telling them he better support the dems, ( he said forgive them they do not know ) he will know 100 percent in the morning if he has a job or not. But they escorted him out tonight. He works at Briggs & Stratton in Missouri. He is being positive about it. He says this gives him more time to work for Ron Paul! BUY TUCUMSEY OR HONDA. Long live the REVOLUTION.

SAVE THE HATEFUL NOTES
That is evidence of harassment and a hostile work environment. He can sue for that.

He isnt alone ... no such thing as free speech at work
I didnt lose my job, but I was publicly censured at work for having the following information in my corp email signature:
Fight RFID: www.spychips.com
Save America: www.ronpaul2008.com
Every American Must See this: link to Aaron Russo film; America: Freedom to Fascism on YouTube
I get a couple hundren emails a day, many of which have dozens of recipients. By including the above information in my signature, I was simply hoping to reach many more people that I would normally have the occasion to interact with on a daily basis. I have recieved many messages from people I seldom work with, as well as others who are both familiar, and not, and not one correspondence regarding the links was negative.
Perhaps I should mention that my company has ties to the finance/realestate markets. Perhaps it is felt that access to this information could be threatening to revenues, based on affiliations the company has with banking and financial insitutions.
No, I havent been fired, but a clear message was sent: We will not tolerate our employees understanding the impact or ramifications of the activies of the corporate body they work for.
Believe me, you don't your husband working
for people who are clearly bad businessmen. Only a complete moron would fire a productive employee over a political opinion as long as the employee wasn't disruptive. Your husband's job can't have been too secure anyway under management like that. No wonder BGG is down 25% in the last 3 months. I'd go put your story on every stock message board I could find.
RE: Husband Lost His Job
That is terrible. At work, there are people who are BLINDLY LOYAL to Bush Co. They have had pictures and calendars for years and the first day I put up a Ron Paul bumper sticker it is promptly removed. Go figure.
No amount of reason or logic pertaining to the government's War "of" Terrorism or destruction of the Rule of Law gets through to them. They 're lemmings. They LOVE the WAR. There is no free speech right at work. This may be an act of discrimination if they have not applied corporate policy equally to all.
Jobs are Jobs...
Look at it this way, now he is Free to do what he really loves. Stay positive and everything that you really need is going to be right there for you. The universe is amazing and always provides what you truly feel.
We have to feel it and believe it before we can recognize it.
As with Ron Paul. He was always HERE but we were not in the place to recognize his Greatness. His message has always been the same, but it took a G. W. Bush to stir and move LOVE within ourselves for the U.S. Constitution and the Champion of it.
Good Luck and I truly believe that you are on the road to Liberty, Truth and Prosperity.
Husband lost it
Just thought I would come back and let everyone know its official. He was told and he texted me at work and let me know. There is no union and Missouri is an atwill state. They can fire you for what ever reason. I just find it hard to believe that it was the points. They let him work 6 months thinking everything was just fine. Then all of a sudden they find one minute and fire him for it. After he worked through the busy season. Thier point system is hard to understand and most people dont even know they are in trouble. They can go back a year. All this a couple of days after he put up the bumpersticker !! He recieved alot of nasty notes. One fella who was giving him hell had alot of pull up front. He will find something else. He had been with them since after highschool. His birthday is Nov 29th. Well he is staying positive and looking and this gives him some free time to help spread the message of Ron Paul and practice his singing and writing. He wrote a really good song about Freedom! . Well to all the folks who gave support, Thank You. Keep up the fight.
Thay can't fire you for a hostile work envirnoment.
That is prejudice.
See a lawyer - (preferably one that is not against Ron Paul!)

Sounds like opportunity is knocking!
Briggs and Stratton engines break down and lots of people need them repaired! A small shop in Baltimore has many lawnmowers and other appliances in their yard at all times and they are not there for sale! They are awaiting the shop's opportunity to get to them for customers.
I too lost my job to power-jerks one day and made the decision to never again place myself in the position of having to rely on the whims of another for my livelihood. It was rough in the beginning but I am now self-sufficient and really quite comfortable.
Positive thinking manifests...it truly does.
Good luck.

wow....
The founding fathers were forced to pledge their "lives, fortunes, and sacred honor". It seems as though your husband has been forced to do the same. Stay positive, stay strong, and keep fighting.

I get the feeling…
… that there is a lot more to this story than merely putting a RP sticker on a tool box. I do know from extensive experience that politics and the workplace do not mix. Most, if not all places of business frown upon ANY political activity in the workplace (religion & politics). Knowing the enthusiasm of average Ron Paul supporter as I do, I would find it very hard to believe that strong attempts of conversion were not served up among other employees along with the RP sticker. There is a time and place for everything. It is no fun being fired (you have my heartfelt sympathies). But, my experiences have been that new doors open as others close. I personally wish you the best.

He sounds like an upbeat guy
I don't think it will be long before he finds somewhere to work. Has he considered working for himself? Also, other places may be more open-minded. I don't think I would want to work in that partisan an environment.

I agree.
Sometimes I wish I could
Sometimes I wish I could lose my job so I would have more time to volunteer for Ron Paul. Grassroots, internet, door-to-door campaigning is SO much more fun than sitting here at work all day.
Sorry about your husband's job though. Is MO a "Right to work" state?
Not the ACLU
The American Communist Law Union probably hates us. I'm not even sure if they like themselves!

I thought the ACLU was Anti-Christian Litigants United. Hm. Maybe they changed it recently.
Hey, just kidding, liberals. I apprecriate the work the ACLU does on exposing the unjustness of the patriot act and other tyrannical laws passed duting the Bush regime.

Absolutely take this to honest end!
This is a free country and if those who support democrats would just open their eyes Ron Paul is the candidate for labor! But more importantly, this needs to be broadcast from the streetcorners! Maybe this will wake some people up and we can honestly discuss the issues. It's another opportunity to spread the word!!
You have my sympathy and support...stand strong...and I'll be sure to mention it on the air as well. Keep us updated!
You know, it might not be a bad idea to get local Ron Paul supporters to picket the company! Signs like "Ron Paul Supports American Labor" might quickly get some attention!

Unions?
Was this a directive from a Union boss? If so I think the ACLU should be contacted as well as your state's labor board. The Union, although they often try, has no right to co-erce you into voting for someone they like.
Solution:
1) Get a Labor Law Lawyer
2) Contact Local Media to Do a Story on this
If in fact the issue was the Ron Paul sticker then you have a case.
get a lawyer
after all, i plan on law school after college, they're very helpful

Forgive me
If I'm a skeptic but it just doesn't make much sence as told. I think there is something else to the story. In addition rather than beating the streets for another job, dedicate full time to the campaign? Then plug other manufacturers? I dunno. I'm not saying it didn't happen it just doesn't add up in my mind.

THIS IS NO JOKE
I wasnt plugging anybody. What I said was out of sarcasim. I stated they said he pointed out. They also waited 6 months to tell him about how he was a minute late. I wish this was all a joke. He will find out in the morning if he has a job or not. Beating the streets? He lost it tonight. He WILL find another job its not the end of the world. He will get to dedicate MORE time now. I know what he feels like. I was also banned from a local forum for 30 days for posting about Ron Paul. I dont care and niether does he. We believe in this man. All this stuff in this world is material. It doesnt mean ****. What matters is what kind of world we leave behind. If this man doesnt get elected a good percentage of us will be outta work anyways. Thanks to all who gave support.
I don't believe
I don't believe I would want to work at a place so intolerant, 9 years or not. It's a sad situation, but I'd be looking for a more free environment. I know it's easier said than done.
Yeah, but you wanna be doing
Yeah, but you wanna be doing your looking when the bills are paid, not when youre out of work.

He displayed a sticker on his personal property. That won't fly. You can probably get someone to take the case pro-bono.
Also... think about contacting the local news stations in your area.

wow ...sorry to hear that
Sounds like your husband stuck to his guns though. Cheers to him. It sounds like this may cost the Briggs and Stratton people. Doesn't sound remotely legal.
I love the Honda OHV motors .... got nine of them powering our pressure washers ;)
Good Luck to you and your husband.
