NEW ULM, Minn. – A Minnesota judge has issued an arrest warrant for the mother of a 13-year-old boy resisting chemotherapy after the pair missed a court hearing on his welfare.
Brown County District Judge John Rodenberg also is ordering that Daniel Hauser be placed in protective custody so he can get proper medical treatment for Hodgkins lymphoma.
Daniel and his parents, Colleen and Anthony Hauser, were due in court Tuesday to tell the judge results of a chest X-ray. But only Anthony Hauser appeared in court.
He told Rodenberg that he last saw Colleen Hauser on Monday evening, and she told him she was leaving. He said that was all he knew.
The family's doctor, James Joyce, testified that Daniel's tumor has grown and he needs immediate assessment by a pediatric cancer doctor.

Daniel Hauser and his parents, Colleen and Anthony Hauser, were to appear in Tuesday in the southern Minnesota city of New Ulm. A judge had ordered the boy to undergo a chest X-ray to see how his Hodgkins lymphoma was progressing.
But only Anthony Hauser appeared in court. He testified that he last saw his wife and son on Monday morning.
He said his wife told him she was going to leave and "That's all you need to know."
A court-appointed attorney for the boy is recommending that custody of the boy be transferred to Brown County.

What physician intends to assault this child with deadly force?
Chemo agents are poisons. What kind of doctor would inject that into a patient that did not consent, even if a minor?
On the off chance that one of you knows how to contact them, please have them look into emancipating the boy. Might be too late, he might be too young, but then HIS consent (or refusal to consent) is legally binding.
Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

you know most of the cops there would just love to find this kid and arrest his "criminal" mother. they would be a hero at the station and probably get interviewed on the news.
chemo at gunpoint doesn't sound very fun to me. no medical marijuana either.

Hodgkin's Lymphoma is one of the most treatable forms of cancer. There is no specific known cause. Mario Lemieux had it in 1993 and was cured.
My brother had it, and they caught it late stage 3 early stage 4. Yet they cured him, the most aggressive chemo ever tried here. Since then he has gone on to be a medical doctor. I think it was his inspiration.
He went in for tests, and the cancer clinic called him to make chemo appointments before he even knew the results. They jump over everything, they are the priority for treatment. In a tragic tragic illness this is one they can cure. The oncologists save very few people, and this child has a cancer that they can treat successfully with an EXTREMELY high success rate.
The success rate of the treatments caught early in younger patients is close to 100%.
I don't think the judge should overrule the parents decision, and it is a hard scenario. I am not sure what the law is, but if it is not their religion to refuse medical treatment then refusing this treatment is like starting a combine tractor when your childs climbed into the gears.
Not a lawyer...or a priest. I am a parent though, and have had family fo through this. It's unfortunate how some people panic at the thought of cancer....as if all cancer were lung cancer.
I hope the kid lives a long life.

You have had good experience with chemo, however, a survey of doctors notes 75% would NOT do chemo or radiation.
People must be allowed to do their own research and then choose.
This proves the state own our children.
Friend of mine's daughter was mis-dx with Cancer; threatened her with court hearings. She ultimately contacted St. Jude's Children's hosp. and got a different doc who followed their protocol. The wart removed from her daughter's foot was sent to five labs - the hosp. WANTED to treat as cancer as the family had health insurance, and they wanted the business. Proof? They sent it to be analyzed in March and contacted them in August stating it was Cancer and she needed immediate radical care.
Most docs cut off a wart and just throw it away. There was NOTHING suspicious about it at all.
If the judge wants chemotherapy so much...
let him take it.

share the details of your experience. After smoking for many years (i recently quit) I do worry about cancer. Especially since my Dad had lung cancer and died (from the "treatment" IMO). What finally prompted me to quit for good was that I felt a pain in the middle of my back off to one side of the spine and knew it wasn't just a normal pain or muscle pull, etc because it wasn't going away and felt very strange (I had it for a couple of months before I did anything). I didn't go to the doctor. But I did do Essiac tea for about six weeks and the pain is finally gone. I'll never know for sure what it was, but I'm doing as much research as I can to try to prevent or treat myself from cancer. I got my juicer back out and started growing sprouts too

Certainly it should not
reach this far. The decision about how to treat a disease belongs to the patient and the parents of underage patients. This is totally unconstitutional.
I had inoperable lung cancer and refused chemo. Due to my study on the big C I knew that the drugs and surgeries kill faster than the cancer. I chose alternative methods and am now cancer free. The cost? Under $200.
I pray this mother and her child are able to continue to elude this court.

So as far as the court is concerned, the State, not the parent
of their minor, decides treatment.
I am with the mother of this child. I would do the same. God speed and protect them from this medicine tyranny. The state does not have the authority to dictate treatment.
