Congress doesn't congress often, it's just a show.
To be fair, it usually looks like that while congressmen are giving their speeches - they are speaking to an empty room and a camera.
Smoke and mirrors.

Holy crap!
Was that out loud? Did he actually say that in front of people?
Good God, that is a massively telling speech. Twice RP tells us to get ready for revolutionary change! Gee, what could that mean?
My only hope would be that he military is rallying around Dr. Paul's message and will soon overthrow the ruthless bastards that have held our beloved country hostage these many decades.
Something is in the works. DEFINITELY. And it's not going to go away quietly or without incident.
I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...
I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...
Dr. Paul holds a huge mirror up for the country to see...
Not too many politicians have the guts - or the brains - to do that.
"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul
Not saying "they" should, but...
if the 10,000 people who showed up at the Freedom March in Philadelphia when The Good Dr. was running for president showed up to a joint-session of Congress to celebrate their 1st and 2nd amendment rights... hmmm... well that would be an interesting situation indeed.
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants... it is its natural manure." -- Thomas Jefferson
Really profound
Most won't know what he is talking about. I wish he hadn't said, he could be mistaken there at the end.
You gotta give it to the good doctor for having the patience and
fortitude to keep repeating himself over and over and over again. I think I'm going to send this to some of my overseas friends to remind them that there are indeed real peace-loving, liberty-loving, republican Americans who are doing what we can to restore this republic and that Dr. Paul is our standard bearer.
And Freightrainblues? If the shoe fits...I'm from New York, but I don't take it personally when people include "Wall Street" in their disgust/disdain, etc. The shoe fits...
Detroit has blown it many times over--workers, unions, management, etc. "Motown?" Do you guys even have a race track anymore???? "Motor City". Please.
How True!
At least there is one light on in the congress to dispel the darkness.
Wow!
I got the eery feeling that RP was describing the scene in 1984 when referring to the U.S. today. This was an uncharacteristic style for RP but I loved the content. His comments are gradually getting more controversial and hard hitting.

You can pretty much understand Congress when you think of the Democrats as the Genoveses and the Republicans as the Gambinos. - Michael Ruppert (paraphrase)
Fab speech!
Dr Paul's not used to reading from a script so it didn't have his usual fervour but it was awesome in content.
Ron Paul is even waking us up in the UK!

I'd like to see the camera swing around to the floor
We'd probably witness a few napping Congressmen yawning, and chatting with their pages, looking at their watches, shuffling papers, and acting pretty disinterested. What a shame. Here's a man calling a spade a spade, and most just don't want to hear it, much less take corrective action. A call to arms! We've got to start voting these bum Congress people OUT!

The Seats Are Empty Nearly Entire Session -- Every Day!
The politicians are only interested in getting their own little grubby bills and faces on camera and that's it.
When there's a vote, they filter in.
Other than that, it's a rare occasion that all the seats are full.
If they didn't pass so much legislation, then maybe the rare time that they did, they would all actually come and debate together.

In its own way, it's good they're not around more.
More time to figure out ways to screw us.

They are sitting in their offices writing up bills to screw us.
If they actually had to sit and listen to each other, not only might they learn something, but they would have much less time to conjure up bills.

Detroit
I am saddened that he threw in my hometown of Detroit.
Everyday many of us in Detroit speak out against the Fed. That was my only mission at the Lansing Tea Party, and many unaware of HR 1207 were very aware of the dangers of the Fed.
I am a teacher of US History and Economics and devote my life to providing the truth that’s not in our textbooks.
Two of the big three took bailout loans that will never be repaid. We looked at awe at the $700 billion plus given to the banks without a second thought and then our auto industry publicly humiliated over far less money.
Now we watch our once proud pillar of American industry with her head lowered to the mercy of the Executive Branch and the California agenda. Waxman takes Dingell’s seat and Obama fires Wagoner.
We know who killed the auto industry. It was not the desire for smaller, more fuel efficient cars. We desire 4 wheel drive vehicles to secure our loved ones on our winter ice and snow. We desire SUV’s and trucks to haul our hunting, fishing and recreation equipment ‘up north’ to enjoy the outdoors. What killed the auto industry is government and we know it. The Federal Reserve bubbles created by artificially low interest rates, ‘free trade’ agreements and high taxes sending businesses overseas. The credit crunch freezing the ability to get loans, and poor mandatory lending policies enforced by the federal government mixed, the GSE mortgage purchasing mixed with $4 gas created the perfect storm.
The fact is Detroiters have been in a recession ever since the dot-com bubble burst and the NASDAQ crash of 9/11/2001. When Bush came out publicly and said the recession was over, my friends and I took turns asking, "Hey Matt, your dad still unemployed?" "Yep." "Hey Chase your dad still unemployed? " Yep" "Hey Kyle, Your dad still unemployed?" Yep" "Looks like the recession is over."
It never ended - 8 years later I still watch friends and family members go in and out of employment. Students return from college and live with parents or pack into small homes to split costs. We are the first into recession and the last out – it has always been that way. In the case of the 2000’s we rode one recession right into the ‘next’ one.
We do not cheer the destruction of our currency and the loss of our investment. We are not profiting from the government or the bailouts. We are not Wall Street and we are not the MIC; and we refuse to whimper when we see our pensions vanish by forces out of our control; and we refuse to surrender our faith that the our tireless blue collar work ethic will bring us prosperity once again. The clouds of depression have darkened south east Michigan for eight years and still each morning, we wake up; brand the English D on our caps and in our hearts and take it upon ourselves to find the next job, clock in and pursue the happiness and security of ourselves and our families.

America...
home of the brave. Detroit IS America. Thanks for your post.
Where I do Agree
That the government has done most of the damage to this country as a whole. I have to say that when it comes to our auto industry, the blame somewhat is across the board. It falls on the car companies, American buyers and Washington. Our car companies have just like our country lived outside its means for a long time. When other countries were building smaller more fuel efficient cars we were build the biggest V8 you could fit under the hood. My grandfather was alive when the first cars hit the road. Him and my father and myself have always done our own mechanics. It seems to all three of us that the majority of Americans have only cared about luxury and speed when it comes to their cars. Efficiency, safety and being practical were last in line. Sad for me I have first hand experience.
Examples, I have a 1995 Geo prism sitting out side that I drive right now. It has 365,000 ORIGINAL miles on it and gets 30 t0 35 mpg. It's a Toyota engine in it. You would be hard pressed to find a American 4 cylinder that would come close to making it to that many miles. My 1995 Ford F-150 is in my driveway and I have been restoring the whole frame on it. I guess those years ford decided to make their frames out of recycled Budweiser cans. Oh but my girlfriends 1987 Audi sits outside also and you would be hard pressed to find a spot of rust on it. Also you don't need a huge SUV to be safe. If that was the case why has cars like Volvo always been the safest? I am going to go back and talk about Audi again here because out of all the cars out there they have impressed me the most. Their Quattro all wheel drive system makes our 4 wheel drive system laughable. They are rated one of the safest cars in the world. They can get 300 horsepower out of a 4 cylinder engine stock out of the factory and still get 20mpg where we need a v8 to do the same. Audi has a 3 step galvanization process that they apply to their cars. No rust...So also to set the record straight all this time knowing this. I still bought American made cars. As far as logic goes American made cars just don't compare. European cars have us beat when it comes to safety, engineering, quality, and longevity. Asian cars surely have us beat when it comes to efficiency, and longevity. If we took a third of what we spend on defense and luxuries and put that money into R and D with our car companies we would still be a big player in the auto industry. Instead we just remain a throw away car nation. Sorry for the rant but It saddens me to know the we have such brilliant competitive minds in this country to build better products and instead our great workers are forced to build crap.

Heartbreaking
Ron Paul talks sense, but to whom? The Congress sold out long ago. We few who love what he says have no power, no say, no ability to make meaningful change. (Sorry if this sounds negative) But the steamroller of the US Mafia will just roll on, bringing the U.S. down completely until there is a New World Ordure.
What is heartbreaking is that it might have been prevented long ago, but, since the Kennedy Assassination, the thugs have run the show.

Oh how the voters
missed a golden opportunity to elect an honest and honorable patriot. I hesitate to call him a politician because he doesn't fit that role as we know it. We have become so complacent that we continue to elect the same crooks and liars over and over again. What a shame. My hope is that the exposure Ron has been getting will make him known to enough people that during the next election they will at least listen to what he says.
bump it again
best speech ever
