Maddow on Obama's "Indefinite Detention" & Unconstitutional Power Grab

The man is not only repeating all of FDR's economic mistakes, he's ready to incarcerate people without trial, as FDR did to the Japanese-Americans.

I know that there are a bunch of people looking for grounds to impeach him. There it is.

Almost six weeks ago in Keene, New Hampshire, Videographer Sam Dodson was filming in the district court lobby. He was arrested and went limp (in the classic "I will not assist you" mode). He did not provide his name asserting his (supposed) right to remain silent. He has been denied due process and has not been able to go before the court.
Many writs of habeas corpus have been filed up to the New Hampshire supreme court, all to no avail. Wiki defines it as "You (shall) have the body[1]) is a legal action, or writ, through which a person can seek relief from the unlawful detention of him or herself, or of another person. It protects the individual from harming him or herself, or from being harmed by the judicial system. The writ of habeas corpus has historically been an important instrument for the safeguarding of individual freedom against arbitrary state action."
Sam is in limbo, in fact the judge is hinting around about his "competency" to stand trail. So, in a classic tyrannical move, they may cover themselves by finding a quack to deem him incompetent and lock him away in a hospital for God knows how long. Sam is an activist with the Free State Project, not a dangerous criminal.

and it's very hard to get details about who Obama is planning to detain. Obviously he already has people slated for this Nazi treatment; however, he made it clear that he's not talking about Guantanamo or a Afghanistan or people who would show up on a battlefield.

Who is he planning to detain?

Rep. Peter King is saying some non-felon, non-criminals in America are "Dangerous Terrorists" and trying to disarm them. Obviously they are not really dangerous terrorists or they would have been jailed or deported. Is the government now calling anyone it is suspicious of a"Dangerous Terrrorist"? What is the criteria to be considered a "Dangerous Terrorist," if a person doesn't have to be either dangerous or a terrorist to qualify for that designation?

Perhaps everyone targeted in the Right-Wing Extremism report is not only a "Right-Wing Extremist" but a "Dangerous Terrorist"? All this rather groundless and escalating name-calling is eerie and suggests that people are being sorted. Sorted for what purpose? Indefinite detainment?

In other words, friends....will we meet in the Gulag after all??

Does that unthinkable, nightmare scenario sound as possible to you to you as it sounds to me?

Even if we are in no wise the target (yet) for our essentially benign political leanings, is it even worth being an American and enjoying all the privileges and securities of this nation, if that security requires keeping massive numbers of innocent people behind bars and killing others, like all the brutal regimes of the past century? If we have to remain cold-hearted and oblivious in order to enjoy the higher standard of living available to us???

I don't think so. It's unconscionable.
