SEATTLE -- Authorities have released surveillance video showing a burly sheriff's deputy slamming a man head first into a wall earlier this month, leaving him in a coma. | Video

Christopher Harris remains in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center, his family says. The 29-year-old had been pursued by deputies May 10 after a witness wrongly identified him as a suspect in an assault.

Sheriff's Sgt. John Urquhart, who released the video Thursday, says Deputy Matthew Paul did not violate policy in tackling Harris. He says Harris was trying to get away, and calls the injury "a tragic accident."

A Harris family lawyer says the video and witness accounts show he was a victim of excessive force."

Now that the cut and paste story is out

Who wants to read the real story?
Anyone?
Shed your sheep's skin a open your mind to the truth.
Here is the real story behind this flame war.
The mere fact that this poster felt the need to leave out such crucial evidence shows the DP that his ineptness at providing sound information was on purpose.

Fellow DP members I ask you to read exhibit 1A
Here you will find out the real story behind this trolls empty and tactless thread.

No

He was running away. Then stopped as to give up. Cop was running full force. You don't think the cop saw this kid across the mall and started charging in like a mad bull? That's absurd.
Don't run from the police. Come on people this is simple critical thinking here.

Every run in with the police I have had has been polite and calm. Its all about attitude. Of which this kid was surely coping.

Its amazing. The more I hang around the DP the more those lacking in critical thinking out themselves.
So many emotionally charged response yet no logical ones.
Sad really.

No many of us have been

royally screwed over by cops many times..

And know the ropes.

Either way, IT was unecesesary and criminal.

Even if the kid was running, at this point he stopped and witnesses herd him say, I didn't steal anything...

It is natural reaction to run if you have police running at you or anyone.
Just look at the videos the last few days.

Even if he layed down would he get a "distraction" blow.

This cop needs to go to jail for assault at a minimum and be fired.

EVEN IF THE KID WAS RUNNING AND WAS GUILTY OF STEALING..

WHICH HE WAS NOT GUILTY OF EITHER.

UNACCEPTABLE ! Gratuitous use of violence and force.

-Yawn-

Ok, look.
1-Kid had to have been stop at some point and question right?
--Unless somebody fasly accused him of stealing

In both cases why the hell did he run away?
I am sad that this video did not have any sound. I am pretty sure the cop yelled "stop" or "Hey you!"

2-How does one stop from a full sprint?
--Was the cop going to just run past him?

Now, we don't know how long they were chasing this kid. It wasn't stated in the article. So for that much force I would say the kid put up a pretty good chase. I'm sure more video will surface showing the kid dodging and weaving from the cops.

3-If a cop was running at me I would step aside and let him pass. If he was gunning for me I would stop and wait to figure out what was going on. If I am in my rights as a full citizen and not a suspect then I have nothing to fear. Why run?
--You run not me.

Besides this article is so vague and without facts that its only goal is to incite flame wars like these. Great job journalists.

That was a hell of a hit

The shoulder ram is a not a use-of-force technique -- though in an open field (on the grass) it might be usefull -- kind of a funky move.

This cop will get fired -- for multiple reasons.

I'm just gonna let you guys know -- encase I never made this clear

1 bad cop = 1 fired cop --- smile.

If you watch these types of videos and never post all the 1000's of positive cop videos out there -- Or the humorous ones.

You subconscious will begin to believe this is the way it is -- everywhere.

I have so many righteous or good cop stories -- I could post 5 per day for 100 days easy.

If need be I'll call my friends to do the same.

If you want to go toe to toe -- just understand you will run out of bad cop videos and stories a lot faster than I will.

I've known 1000's of them over 20 years.

You guys watch stuff like this like porn -- you are addicted to the notion of a tyranical police state -- when you go outside there's very little evidence of it.

Octobox

Yes ......attack and ask questions later ......

oh yeah wait the guy had his head slammed into a brick wall so it's hard to answer questions when you are unconscious.

Stop the NWO....It's just illumi..Naughty !

Totally needless violence.

Totally needless violence. This officer needs to go to jail for that one. Did you see you that guy's neck bent against the wall? It looks like it snapped. The guy probably didn't even know they were after him and was probably trying to move out of the way of their path when he was charged from the side.

It's unfortunate

but in the eyes of those giving the orders you are NEVER the wrong man.

If you disobey their order, given rightly or wrongly, they appear to feel justified to do anything they want.

DO NOT show 8 sided box this one!

Please, someone delete this post- Octo-box will just use it as an example of the police defending themselves against that kid that was running....AT FULL SPEED....away from the Black Uniforms.

POLICY?!?!?!?

Tragic accident? Is it the policy for these thugs to violently drag a human being who has just obviously sustained head and/or neck injury?!?!?!?!?

This bitch needs to go to jail, pronto!

In other words....

Police law = policy.

Rule of law = assult, attempted manslaughter, attempted murder.

How many days off with pay did this criminal get?

I hope this officers child is never misidentified in a shopping mall.

Battle in Seatle, anyone see it?

`Wise people, even though all laws were abolished, would still lead the same life'- Aristophanes -

“We have allowed our nation to be over taxed and over regulated and overrun by bureaucrats, the founders would be ashamed of us for what we're putting up with.” Ron Paul

Oh, it was a tragic accident.

If only the slave had knelt before his god he would be well today.

Cops love you!

Unreal!

Terrible. The kid wasn't running away at all. Liars.

Can you imagine...

Your walking down the mall...

You are startled by a big yell and turn your head and see some big man in black running at you. You kinda move back as he is running straight at you and boom, He hits you and your in a comma for life, or have brain damage for life.

I saw the video. The kid was not running away, the guy just ran up on him and scared the S@#$@ out of him so he backpeddled. The cop hit him he flew back and cracked his head on the concrete wall. And, was out. The kid looked like a stick man next to the big cop. It was totally unnecessary.

I would love to see the training manual with this move in it.

"Deputy Matthew Paul did not violate policy in tackling Harris. He says Harris was trying to get away, and calls the injury "a tragic accident."

B.S. ...Watch the Video...IT was gratuitous violence on a innocent kid just out shopping. It hardly looks like he was running away, he was just startled.
