Question about C4L Message (problem?)

0 votes

So a group of my friends went out of town last weekend to a hippie jam fest called Summer Camp. They came back with a booklet of all of the groups that were present. They apparently had political groups there aswell. Anyway; My best friends' father was looking through it and found campaign for liberty in the book. The description, however, turned him off to the organisation. He liked how it described personal liberties, sound money, and he has his gripes about a completely non-interventionist foriegn policy. He does agree that being in 130 countries around the world is too much.

However the thing that turned him off to the group was that it said they were there to promote the social welfare.

What does that mean exactly I guess is my question. I do not like the wording. He took it to mean something along the lines of free healthcare and the likes...
Thanks.

Hey Sleeeeeve

You tell your dear friend that there's a whole lot of Ron Paul supporters who are not too happy with campaign for liberty, and we Ron Paul supporters are sorry that the literature was off... Many of us went through this during the campaign, I could not believe it when I picked up my eight by four foot Ron Paul campaign signs and not one said, "For President". How do you leave out FOR PRESIDENT after you begin with WHO IS RON PAUL?

Perhaps if you expalined to your dear friend, that many Ron Paul supporters would like the USA to get back to it's constitutional roots, where we were not a in debt to the military industrail complex occupying over 150 military bases like some global police state. It is not our job to be the police of the world and force democracy through WMD when we can't find the WMD that were claimed to be there.

And ask your friend. How would you feel if we were occupied by China's military, for decades?

I am happy to know C4L was there, but I am not happy w/C4L, and from what I read here, not allot of folks are happy with the direction C4L is going. If they are for the GOP, which they appear, they are doing a lousy job standing up to the neocons, and if they wanted to attract the large group Ron Paul's message of "Freedom is popular", they are blowing it.

And finally, we can see today that the experts are not experts. None of us are experts, we are all feeling our way. Some folks do not want to feel their way... they want the government to care from them from birth to death, but some of us, know we can do better than the government if we are free from the government holding us back, and why freedom is popular.

His son & I are working on

His son & I are working on him all the time :). He was the one who stresses the constitution; got my first pocket constitution from him actually... He is a very rational guy and I'll bring some of those points up to him :) He does believe that congress should be the ones declareing war. However, the other day I met one of the smartest(seemingly) brightest kids i've met in a while and he did not know that congress declares the wars... Thankfully when I met him I also met a fellow ron paul supporter who assured him I was correct. hehe

LOVE Sleeeeve

Check out the Un Agenda 21 thread... bring that up to your dear friend and ask what he thinks of that? I'd be curious myself. What a great group of wonderful friends you have to spend this summer of your life... With LOVE. Kudos!

Haven't watched the video all the way yet; But I can tell you one thing, he homeschooled two of his three children :)

Interesting question

Why does promoting social welfare imply free stuff or socialism? If that is true, then perhaps the wording needs to be changed to something less socialist sounding. Anyone else have any ideas what this exactly means?

The dictionary states there are two definitions to welfare:

1. the state of doing well especially in respect to good fortune, happiness, well-being, or prosperity (must look out for your own welfare)

2 a: aid in the form of money or necessities for those in need b: an agency or program through which such aid is distributed

Obviously the statement is referring to #1 but people are taking it to mean #2. Maybe you can explain to him the difference in the terms and someone should think about modifying the term.

The lip of truth shall be established forever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment...Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are His delight. Prov 12:19,22

Thank you! I will do that.

Thank you! I will do that. He is like a father to me and we debate and discuss politics every chance we get; we're both unemployed right now so we have plenty of time. I do remember him slipping Ron Paul's name into conversations at family gatherings during the primaries quite often :D. He's the one that actually led me to my thinking of begining to ask what the federal reserve was; he didn't know... So I felt I had to one up him :) then I found Aaron Russo & Ron Paul :D

What is the exact wording?

I checked the entire Mission Statement and Statement of Principles on the C4L website ( http://www.campaignforliberty.com/about.php ) and the words social and welfare are nowhere in it.

Was this an ad?

What state?

It was

It was in Illinois. It listed many goals & one of the supported goals was to "support the general welfare" It was more like a description of the group for the guide/schedule to the concert/event. There was a political tent with many organizations.
