Excerpt:
" The study of government almost never concerns itself with whether government should be, but only with how and what it should be. The existence of government is accepted without question."

The essence of government...
like most of man's contrivances, is to be kept small. I will argue that we have genius in both invention and execution. Yet we lack as a balance contemplation and proper application. By that I mean men make government to solidify their inspiration as valid social action, yet they continue to remember that the future is not solely created by the past. Unfortunately we are not omnipotent; and no matter how well organized or guarded government is, that original intention is always subject to attack, manipulation and degradation. We can only begin to meet the ideal when we set in place government for ourselves only, teach our children well and let them set in place government for themselves. That is how sovereignty operates. That is the genius of Lysander Spooner. But one great truth I feel will always be essential in government is that it be kept small and weak.

It is commonly thought ...
...that governments were invented to protect men from the gangs of barbarians who wanted to rob or enslave them. In actual fact, governments were the organizations set up by successful barbarian gangsters to facilitate the enslavement and robbery of their victims.
Some things never change.
