Non-Partisan Effort: Vote Out ALL Incumbents

0 votes

We need to gather up all the independents, libertarians, greens, constitutionalists, and disaffected democrats and republicans and unite efforts to VOTE OUT ALL CAREER POLITICIANS in 2010.

There are huge sea changes taking place in Japan, the UK, India and numerous other key democratic-republic countries. We need to do our part here in the U.S. - clearly congress needs a significant wake up call and allowing career politicians and political snake oil salesfolks to continue in their positions unchecked is NOT a viable solution to our country's ills.

Needless to say, the earlier we unite a large voting bloc to this idea, the better chances we will have in the MIDTERM (key) 2010 elections.

Midterm elections can be swayed much more easily than those during the presidential race as there is less mass inertia and big-corporatist propaganda to overcome.

I think focusing on cleaning up our foreign policy, restoring our civil liberties, restoring sanity to government spending, creating clarity, transparency and oversight in government, ending the war on drugs, and simply RESTORING SANITY can be the united sales pitch for independent Americans to take back control of the country from CAREER CORRUPT POLITICIANS.

I feel the more this message is applied to the broad swath of Americans who want sensible and NON-CORRUPT decisions to come from DC, the more likely it will be that common sense, good-hearted/minded/souled individual Americans will reach the halls of Congress.

In California, we just witnessed a MASSIVE rebuke of bail outs of big government mismanagement in the just-past special election (which was backed by the Democrats, numerous big lobbies and the "Republican" Arnold Schwarzenegger). The propositions all got TROUNCED except for the one that limited political pay when there is a budget deficit :) This vote was VERY telling about the disgust voters have for political BS and ever-expanding government nonsense.

So for 2010, let's get this rolling NOW.

VOTE OUT THE CAREER POLITICIANS, VOTE IN COMMON SENSE AMERICANS, RESTORE SANITY IN 2010!!

Notice the upheavel in the British and European elections

While not a total revolution of ideas and ways, there was definitely progress made towards throwing out the corrupt interests. Consider the breakdown in Britain with growing calls for Gordon Brown to step down. Also, the Euro area went considerably away from socialism and there were a growing number of Pro-Sovereignty reps that overcame the inertia and propaganda to achieve electoral wins. We need to take these moves to the next level in 2010!

Yes Yes Yall

I like it, I'll do it, but...

...there is a problem. To vote against an incumbent, there has to be an election. Due to the overwhelming incumbent advantages, there were 55 unchallenged seats in November 2008 House elections. Hence, no elections!

Also, for your vote to be fully meaningful, there has to be a meaningful opponent to vote for. Most challenged elections (against incumbents) included an incumbent against a wildly outspent challenger who in many cases was merely a gadfly. The conclusion is foregone and little ink is spent parsing the results.

These two reasons explain why 94.8% of incumbents won once again in an alleged 'year of change.'

All the 'change' occurred in the minority of open, competitive elections *without* incumbents. In such cases, serious candidates step up (as they have a chance to win) and are better funded (because they have a chance to win).

Term limits would be helpful here, as an 8-year term limit mandates an open, competitive election in every seat at least once every eight years.

Need organization

And to expose corruption, cronyism, violation of oaths and plain old incompetence.

My feeling is a national organization of third party and independent voices in unison saying "enough of the nonsense" will make the biggest splash.

Stick to the topics we can agree on and focus on those while tailoring it to each local district (i.e. based on longer standing "conservative" or "liberal" leanings).

We need to open the floodgates and end that BS 95% re-election nonsense.

Kemp: I'm glad you said this

I've been pushing this idea for nearly 5 years now and the better part of 2 years hear on DP.

I called for a Voter Constitution and a Consumer Constitution last fall -- but the idea was a little ahead of itself.

I hope your idea and you putting it forward will finally catch here on Daily Paul.

I like some of the ideas posted alread and that is my main point.

Take a good idea and make it better -- keep revolving it.

We are still using the same or similar means of idea transfer as folks were using in the 70's for pete sake: Protesting, Yard Signs, Fliers, Precincting, and door-to-door.

If insanity is repeating the same thing over and over expecting different results -- maybe we are all a little bit crazy.

Let's innovate (beyond blogging on the internet) -- Let's make money getting Ron Paul elected; now that's entrepnreneurial and free-market thinking.

Octobox

Good ideas

I think one important thing to do is combine under a broad umbrella on a national basis and then each individual district tailor their message to the respective make up of the local area. This provides the two sides of the equation: 1) being a part of a broad national movement, and 2) allowing the broad unity to be focused on specific issues to fit the local norms.

I think this is the best way to create a lasting presence in the federal government for those who are focused on libertarian/constitutional/righteous governance.

First of all before any change can be made people need to be

shaken out of their mindset of dems vs repubs and repubs vs dems.

When it should be We the People vs self interest Congresspeople both repub and dem.

As long as these voters still believe in what Rush and the MSM are pushing, which is divisiveness it will be very difficult to vote in people who care more about doing what's right than doing what's best for the party...that goes for both dem and repub party.

Education is the answer to everything that's wrong with our country.

If the majority of Americans are representative of Jay Leno's Jaywalkers. then you have to know education is sorely lacking among the American voters.

Education should be the number one priority. When most Americans don't even know what form of government we have or even know the difference between a Republic and a Democracy you know we are in trouble.

Maybe the answer is not education, but reeducation?

Rather than "Democrat vs. Republican"

the focus should be on LIBERTY vs. TYRANNY.

The vast majority of key issues can be seen through this lens and then the side issues are exposed for what they are: divide and conquer topics.

A third party is needed.

We don't have to repackage anything in terms of incumbents; all we need is a strong third party that votes out the GOP and the Democrats.

And really, with this movement--do we really quiver at that 15% requirement for debates? We could get 15% in 2012--if we tried.

SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA
Support the Constitution of the United States

SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA
Support the Constitution of the United States

That was no massive rebuke

That was massive apathy.

It was a HUGE waste of money.

But it sure gave Arnold the gusto to threaten us.

I wish voting out the incumbant worked, but it does not. Ron Paul for example is an incumbant you are not going to get voted out. And here in CA, where we are so corrupt, counties only run incumbants. Notice?

The GOP is broke and will not fund any Ron Paul Republiucans in CA. And now, our Indy movement is being derailed by the NEO Indys because we can't get Republicans and conservatives to understand how the game has been set up, they are too busy playing games with the GOP (who, in CA under Arnold wants a global government like Obama and Feinstein and Boxer and pelousi and Reid, next door in NV, and McCain next door in AZ, and OR and HI....

Oh yeah

Here are some charts of county-by-county results:

The propositions got handled in essentially every county. That is unheard of.

kemp

look at how many turned out.. http://vote.sos.ca.gov/returns/status.htm

People did not turn out, and who would have voted yes except those who do not know how to read but think now that Obama is president the best thing to do is vote YES.

These are the folks who show up at the office complaining how school children are not going to be educated because of the no vote, and that is what Arnold is now trying to sell.

When you figure that the majority of residents in CA do NOT vote, adn have a very expensive election, that wasn't an election, but a GOP governor telling us to say YES to MORE taxes, and now he is threatening us? Do you really think this is going to attract people to the party? Honestly, I don't believe Arnold has any intention of attracting anyone in CA into the GOP.

WE ARE GOING TO WIN!

There is no one running for president.

I'd call it a rebuke

People who did not know any better, stayed home. People who knew what the hell was going on in the state budget game went out to vote and destroyed all the BS propositions. Out of those who vote with some degree of understanding (of which these voters were more likely to be) the propositions were a huge rebuke.

2010 will have more overall hype than this special election (and thus bring out more drones) but it will in no way be close to what 2008 was. 2008 was a very challenging year for liberty as people were basically voting against Bush and the only real alternative was the Democrats, who happen to be worse than many Republicans on a number of key issues.

2010 could be a different story, IF people unite and get organized.

RETURN TO SANITY, RETURN TO COMMON SENSE 2010

For 35 years

I have voted out all incumbents including judges, water commission,
city council, mayor, the reason why I have yet to see one person
in Kansas who is like Ron Paul.

But now we have a State Senator who is a lot like Ron Paul
and her name is Mary Pilcher Cook.

" I will take REAL money and YOU
can have the change "

"Freedom is a right that can never be won in war, only by each individual "

as an example

We need a challenger of such a sort for Harry Reid.

I think he is ripe for the picking in Nevada, in spite of his potential Obama-pushed fundraising haul.

Also

I think some of the individuals we are already planning on supporting here on DP, such as Adam Kokesh, RJ Harris, Rand Paul and Peter Schiff are exactly the type of candidates folks should be looking for in this TRANS-partisan effort to unite COMMON SENSE AMERICANS to throw out the corrupt career politicians in DC.

We need to get these folks to tap into a BROADER American consensus that we need TRUE CHANGE in DC and that can only come through looking within at our own common sense American ideals, ones which are not subject to party platforms, but are focused on doing what is best to RESTORE SANITY and common sense to the American political landscape.

We need to work with and UNITE with fed up individuals across the political spectrum on key issues (such as those mentioned in the post) to help save America from an out-of-control DC that is being run by out-of-touch bipartisan career imperialists.
