Privacy intrusion at the Doctors

The other day while checking in for an appointment to get routine bloodwork done I was asked by the receptionist as to whether I was a military veteran or not. When I responded that I was she handed me a form and told me to fill it out. After looking over the form (which asked tons of questions that the military should already have the answers to) I politely responded that I didn't feel comfortable with filling it out. She quickly snatched the paper from my hand telling me that is was a Government program for my benefit. She then repeated "thats ok" about 5 times as I was walking away. Guess I'm going on another list now.

Isn't it amazing--if these are all 'new' programs, such as the

ones declaring that our veterans may be unstable----that they already have all the forms printed up and distributed to doctors?
Sounds pretty suspect to me!

Whats really upsetting

is the number of individuals who will just give them all the information they want without questioning why they want it.

If not us than who?

I agree---more than 10 years ago my doctor wanted my SSN#

to use as my acct. number. I can still remember the look of disgust on the face of the secretary when I refused to give it and told her she would have to assign me a number.
Most people do just go along----and now your SSN is linked with your Driver's License # in many databases.
