I used to admire Texas for its freedom awareness, now, not so much. How will they finance debtors prison?

Traffic ticket tyranny:

A couple of weeks ago, the local paper printed names of El Pasoans with outstanding arrest warrants. 78,000 El Pasoans made the paper! When we compared Austin, same story: 11% of Austin has outstanding arrest warrants. How did that happen? Here are the facts.

if you can’t pay, you go to jail.

And that is exactly what happened. Nearly one in ten Texans can’t pay: students, single mothers, working families, essentially low and even middle income Texans whose income can’t keep up with gas, insurance, taxes and tickets too.

Oh Jesus get real... If You want to drive You have to pay insurance and follow trafic laws. No one forced these people behind the wheel but yet You act like they are victims. 10% of the population with an active arrest warrant, that's scarey.

El Paso Warrants: 59,429 people with 140,244 warrants as of 05/11/07

Socialists are Everywhere

You don't believe that we get all of our army helmets, household appliances and license plates from China, do you? Heck, even telemarketing corporations maintain numerous call centers inside prisons. What do the prisoners earn for their work? Probably 25 cents an hour. Anyone think that there might be another motive for imprisoning so many people?
