Former AL Chief Justice Roy Moore Announces Gubernatorial Bid
Former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore --- who was removed from office earlier in the decade for defying a federal judge's order that he remove a Ten Commandments monument from the court house --- is running for governor of Alabama in 2010.
A news article is available at http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=9... and you can Digg the article at http://digg.com/politics/He_s_back_Ten_Commandments_judge_ta...
Moore's campaign website is http://www.moore2010.com/
I urge those of you who have theological and/or social issue disagreements with Moore to still consider supporting him. He is a state sovereignty advocate who has proven he is willing to stand up to federal intervention in state affairs, and that's exactly what we need in governors. He even mentions support for the state sovereignty movement at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1YGtdATrns
Along with State Senator Randy Brogdon in Oklahoma, Ray McBerry in Georgia and Debra Medina in Texas, we have a good opportunity to get strong state sovereignty governors in 2010!

Judge Moore would be a great
Judge Moore would be a great governor... he deserves our support.. I love watching all the anti God, wiccans get their panties in a bunch. You people are awefully stupid.. in time you will see what I mean.

Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐
Um..
Why would you consider Wiccans anti-God?
Just wondering.. technically they should be better than christians because they have more Gods... so in a hockey game your God would lose!
Seriously though... I could completely debunk your religion in 30 sentences. I could do the same with mine. I wouldn't, however, consider you stupid for believing something different than I do, in the area of religion.
I would consider you rude, or at least socially inept, for calling someone that does not believe the same religion you follow stupid.
If you are going to follow the freedom movement, you might want to remember that freedom of religion means freedom of ALL religions.
In time you will see what I mean, if you grow personally.

You're a lot more generous here than I'd be, Devon.
Kudos on your patience with him, for with him I have little to none.
Well...
To me it really doesn't matter what he believes or what he thinks of my beliefs.
Calling someone stupid because of thier beliefs, however, is just showing that you are merely playing lip service to the idea of freedom. That is, after all, the entire concept... that we are individuals that are allowed our own thoughts, beliefs, property, etc.
I think you have a valid point about Roy Moore... I really cannot support someone who leads with thier personal religious beliefs instead of the Constitution.
So he's not for me... but if others in this movement vote for him because his religion is the same as thiers, then they are selling themselves and the movement out.
He should be vetted on his qualifications, which seem, at this point, kinda crappy. After all, he was thrown out because he either could not read, or chose to break the law because of his own religion. Either way, a bad scenario... :)

Drop the social issues....
We need constitutionalists in there. He is a good man... States Rights... 17th Amendment dropped.... Lets go...Kickass... Washington needs to know who is the government. US!

you will find out that Ron Paul will come out in support of Judge Moore

Dr. Paul
I hope Dr. Paul endorses him. Judge Moore is for state sovereignty, low taxes and the sanctity of life, just like Dr. Paul. Though it would be good if Judge Moore wouldn't make such an issue out of gambling (not that I think gambling is good; just that it's not really an issue for government). If he runs a solid state sovereignty campaign, this could be a big win.
what if he gets rid of state sponsered
lottery? I wish my state would, it is just a tax on the poor, and the sad thing is they are thrilled to give the government more of their money.
Private Gambling
I'm speaking of private gambling. I don't believe there should be a state-sponsored lottery.

A Man Of Character
Some of you cutting Judge Moore are the same ones that want King Obama and the last 40 years of turning your back on God and bringing in socialism and letting the government do everything for you. If he is elected Alabama will become one of the best states in the union. This is great news. IMO

What a maroon.
He lost his seat on the bench trying to install a graven image of the Ten Commandments in a court house. Does it get any more moronic than that? Maroonic?
Sir you need the Lord
too much hate in you. The Bible says the only way to have eternal life with God is Jesus, there is no other way. Do you know anything about the ten commandments?

Hey McCain-----┌П┐(◣_◢)┌П┐
Ten Commandments? Sure. Try these:
http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/features/2000/carrier...
Dr. Carrier
You're using Dr. Carrier as a source? That's a laugh. This is a guy who recently started soliciting donations to write a monograph arguing that Jesus of Nazareth never existed. Such a dumb thesis is so unsubstantiated it can't get taken seriously in the historical community (even amongst most atheist scholars).
So you disagree with those commandments?
Or are you unable to and simply attack the article's author because of something else he's done or what he believes?
Is your beef with Solon, or is it with Richard Carrier?
If the former, then you need to get educated. Solon has played far more of a role in the fundamentals of our republic than Moses did.
If the latter, then you need to get better arguments, because that one fails the sniff test.
Credibility
Attacking the credibility of Dr. Carrier is a legitimate tactic. He's a historian writing about ancient history, so discussing an incredibly bad thesis he adheres to in that field is relevant.
I happen to have my B.A. in history. If anyone needs to "get educated" in that field, it's you.
If you look at the writings of the founders you'll see references to God and the Bible over and over again. But you essentially ignored the primary source evidence I posted below, so what can I expect from you?
Fine, make my fries a large with my cheeseburger
You have a B.A. in history. He has a PhD. In the credibility department, he wins, you lose.
Plus, if you bothered to actually read the article, you'd see that Solon actually DID write those commandments, and they are far superior to the set supposedly handed down a pair of rocks by a third-rate Hebrew War God on a mountain while wandering around looking for the local Flying J.
And the religiosity of the Founders in their personal lives has NOTHING to do with the lack of it in the way they founded this nation. IOW, they separated church and state, so why can't you?
Now, can you come up with anything that what Solon said is wrong there, or are you just going to continue your jealousy of a superior historical mind in Dr. Carrier?
Judge Roy Moore-on?
Never support that lunatic, ever!
Yeah, he may be a soveriegn states person, but every stopped clock is right twice a day, and his sundial is stuck in pre-Stone Age.
No thanks, I prefer intelligent candidates, not intelligent-design canDUDates.
...
Your ad hom wordplay is rather immature. What does someone's belief on creation have to do with running a state?
By the way, you're going to be in for some disappointment when you watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JyvkjSKMLw
Whatever, it's not about evolution, moron!
Fact is, the guy was clueless on the bench, and has reinforced that ever since, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the First Amendment.
If he couldn't run his court correctly (and it's well-documented that he couldn't), then how can he be expected to run a state correctly?
Sorry, but if a person can't get the First Amendment Rights right, then they have no place in the government of our republic at ANY level. That includes but is not limited to Roy Moore-on.
First Amendment
The fact that you need to keep using ad homs is indicative of your apparent inability to form a legitimate argument.
Apparently you don't even grasp the historical context of the first amendment; see http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul148.html
Sorry, but I know thew historical arguments
And that article flies in the face of Jefferson, Madison, and settled legal precedent and doctrine. Yes, I'm saying Dr. Paul has it wrong here!
Never argue the First Amendment with a Wiccan. You will always lose.
you are a wiccan?? no
you are a wiccan?? no wonder.. you just made my point.. you are the moron.

Oh really?
Funny...this ex-Catholic also knows something you don't know about your religion, and why yours is simply a retread of others throughout known history.
All you got is namecalling--I'm sure your Jesus would be SO proud of your love for your fellow man!
What is a wiccan?
