An observation.
When a socialistic gov't decides that it's time to stop giving hand-outs to buy votes, and of course it needs to remain in power, then the hammer comes down.
If we are at that point, the police state will really crank up the heat in earnest. This is the turning point.
They don't use this turning point, until they feel secure that their ability to control the public is unstoppable. And when they have their force consolidated to that level, they can then turn off the goodies, and turn up the heat.
This could be a very critical juncture.
Sometimes they guess wrong, and they make a mistake, and they can lose all with this strategy. So, if any cracks appear in the armor, they must be exploited to the fullest, or we are all toast.

This all gets me very stressed out,
the govt doing what they are doing, but I try to remember something my son told me (he was a govt/history buff in homeschool) and it is "Mom, remember that when a govt is dying, it goes out kicking and screaming!"
Correct. An A+ well earned. When the power elite, in this
case a consortium of lawyers (courts), academic activists, banksters, CEOs and politicians are losing control, then police enhancement policies readily occur. It's job security for all. The power elite have had it pretty good for ages and are quite uneasy about the possible discontinuance of the cushy lives created from having controlled all segments of the operations of the most powerful country ever during the history of human existence. For the police, well, perhaps not "cushy" and it does have a distinctive hazardous ring to its cause. However, the police authority is, historically, income and benefits secure and offers a perky retirement plan.
