Daily HR 1207 phone/email/fax bomb!!! 6/4/09
Here it is ladies and gentlemen! As I said, I am going to keep up the daily bombs. Let's get to work! Good luck!
Today's victims: Congressman Brad Sherman D-CA(Member of House Finance Committee) and Congressman Martin Heinrich D-NM. I was asked by a fellow DP member to attempt getting someone from NM on board, so we will be talking to Rep. Heinrich today. Also, I am almost positive we can get Brad Sherman who is a member of the committee on board!!! Sherman called out Bernanke and Geitner at a financial services heard a couple months ago. Check out the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqRfsGpH9ic Lets get to work!

Being a freshman
Being a freshman congressman, mine doesn't amount to much but would love to add him to the list if possible. He has received numerous letters, calls, and 115 petition signatures to which he still skirts around a committment. Below is my reply to his 'non-answer'. Oh.... and he never even acknowledged the petitions. Ohio could use more co-sponsors and a Dem is even better.

Dear Congressman Boccieri,
It's encouraging to receive your reply and assurance that you are familiar with the bill. Although likely an automated message, I must respond with hope that you will publicly announce support of H.R. 1207, Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009.
Numerous requests have been made asking that you CO-SPONSOR this important legislation, including 115 hard copy petition signatures from your constituents delivered to the district office April 28th. I appreciate your words below acknowledging the need for "broader oversight of our financial institutions........important that Congress maintain the trust of its citizens."
What better way to earn our trust than to co-sponsor this much needed reform? Surely, failure to support a transparency issue of this magnitude has potential for irreparable damage to the "citizen's trust" in their Congressman?
Words mean little when action is needed. "I will keep your views mind should this bill be considered on the floor of the House." Sufficient sponsorship is necessary for the bill to ever reach the "floor of the house."
It is disappointing that you were not one of the first to sign on as co-sponsor as there is no justification short of politics as usual, for any congressman to remain on the fence and fail to give full support to this bi-partisan effort.
Therefore, I STRONGLY URGE you to COSPONSOR H.R. 1207, Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009 and make every effort to seek roll call votes.
Sincerely,
Me
Dear Mrs. ......
Thank you for contacting me regarding H.R. 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act.
The Federal Reserve System, the central bank of the United States, is an independent agency accountable to Congress. H.R. 1207 was introduced by Rep. Ron Paul and has been referred to the House Committee on Financial Services for consideration. A companion measure, S. 604, was introduced in the Senate.
The measure amends title 31 of the United States Code to change the manner in which the U.S. Comptroller General audits the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the way in which the audit is reported. The bill requires the audit to be completed by the end of 2010 and requires a report of the audit with detailed description of the findings and conclusion of the Comptroller General, together with recommendations for legislative or administrative action should be submitted by the Comptroller General to Congress within 90 days of completing the audit.
There is no question we need broader oversight of our financial institutions. With the meltdown on Wall Street and countless numbers of American taxpayer dollars being handed over to big banks, it is important that Congress maintain the trust of its citizens. For this reason, I voted against the 2nd round of TARP funds giving $350 billion to big banks - I was not in Congress for the first vote.
Thank you again for sharing your views on this legislation. I will keep your views mind should this bill be considered on the floor of the House. Please continue to keep me informed of your concerns and opinions.
Sincerely,
John Boccieri
Member of Congress

Here's a letter I like very much
Respectful and insulting at the same time. Albeit the insults are subtle.
It's also short and to the point. And apparently...effective.

My Representative Ginny
On June 4th, 2009 Charles Wilson says:
My Representative Ginny Brown-Waite recently co-sponsored HR 1207. The last email I sent to her prior to her signing on may have helped sway her decision. I am enclosing a copy of the letter for anyone to use if they need more ammunition to get their Representatives on board:
Dear Representative Ginny Brown-Waite, 5-15-09
Please reconsider your lack of support for HR 1207. Your stated reason for not supporting the bill does not make a lot of sense. You have abdicated your responsibility as my representative by allowing the Federal Reserve print money without any oversight or restraint. From an economic point of view, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve has more power than the entire Congress. It is my understanding that the Federal Reserve has printed over 2 trillion dollars and Congress has not a clue as to where that money went and for what purpose. The 2 trillion dollars was created out of thin air without requiring a single vote from the Congress.
The economists I listen to are convinced that the dollar will collapse in the near future if the current trend toward printing money by the Fed is not halted. Transparency of the Federal Reserve is an effective way for Congress to monitor and control what they do.
With all due respect, sticking your head in the sand and hoping for the best is not very smart in my opinion. That will only lead to a major economic crisis -- a crisis that could and should be avoided.
"UPDATE - HR 1207 Now Up To 165 co-sponsors!"
I urge you to do the right thing and join the 165 co-sponsors of the bill. At least 9 of the co-sponsors are from Florida.
Sincerely
Charles F. Wilson

I think this is going rather well don't you guys? Called offices and faxed. I like the faxing that way we don't have to pretend like we live in their areas. Hopefully this is educational for both Sherman and Hindlick.

Thanks bmcgrew
we all need to do this!!! H.R1207 to audit the fed
For sure.
The second PDF is better IMO too. Lets get on top of Sherman. Since he is a democrat and a member of the finance committee, I think him cosponsoring this bill will help influence a lot more democrats to join!

Easy Email
Copy and Paste it:
Whereas, the Federal Reserve refuses to give public accounting of the trillions in recent taxpayer-backed loans; and
Whereas, Congress has the responsibility to force a public audit of the Federal Reserve, and the American people deserve to know how their tax dollars are being spent and the currency inflated; and
Whereas, allowing the FED to remain out of control and shrouded in secrecy clearly allows for abuse and the continued stealing of our tax dollars; and
Whereas, the Federal Reserve System itself leads to constant economic crises like the current housing crisis and the resulting chaos; and
Whereas, the Federal Reserve System forces fuel, food, housing, medical care, and education costs upward, that everyone who is not on the government dole is forced to make do with less as the value of their money slowly decreases; and
Whereas, history shows us that riots, violence, and full-scale police states can result when people finally realize fiat money isn't worth the paper it's printed on and refuse to accept it;
Therefore, I urge you to co-sponsor Ron Paul's Federal Reserve Transparency bill (H.R. 1207), and make every effort to seek roll-call votes.
Sincerely,
