Ron Paul on Medical Marijuana & the War on Drugs

Ron Paul is asked his opinion on medical marijuana by Clayton Holton, a patient who asked Romney and Rudy the same question a few months ago. Rudy and Romney both ignored him. Listen to Dr. Paul's excellent, well informed, wide ranging response, and ask yourself who the real "compassionate conservative" is.

See Romney's disgustingly arrogant interaction with him below:

Romney says, "you can use synthetic marijuana." With all due respect Mr. Romney, why do you need to replace something natural, that can be freely grown with something synthetic? Oh wait, probably because some drug company can't make obscene profits from a plant because they can't control it. Isn't that what it comes down to? They have to outlaw the plant, create a synthetic version of it, and sell it for 1000 times what it would cost for someone to grow it. All that and it doesn't even work as good as mother nature's version.

And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.

wow huh?

Thats rediculous. I live in Massachusetts but I in no way support Romney, especially after seeing this. What a dick. I've been a supporter of Ron Paul ever since I heard about him. (which wasnt too long ago lol maybe a few months) but wow I still can't believe Romney. Turning his back to a medical marijuana patient as if he is inferior or some shit. Thats horrible.

Shafer Commission’s Recommendations

Washington, DC: A slight majority of Americans support amending federal law to remove "criminal penalties for the personal use of marijuana by adults," according to a national poll of 1,078 likely voters by Zogby International and commissioned by the NORML Foundation.

Forty-nine percent of respondents – including 57 percent of men – said they would support "a law in Congress that would eliminate federal penalties for the personal use of marijuana by adults and allow states to adopt their own policies on marijuana." This proposal, commonly known as ‘decriminalization,’ was first recommended to Congress by the US National Commission on Marihuana (sic) and Drug Abuse (aka The Shafer Commission) 35 years ago today, on March 22, 1972.

Ron Paul is so awesome.

Seriously, the two guys I'm not ashamed to have love in the same sentence with, Ron Paul and Yoshiki Hayashi.

Rudy actually turned his

Rudy actually turned his back on the guy.

I could not do that...

Let's choose our battles wisely

I'm for medical MJ, legalizing MJ, especially industrial hemp, but it is crunch time in a presidential election.

Like other issues, MJ has some negative associations. Let's follow Ron Paul's lead and focus on his strengths. His official site and his speeches outline the issues he feels gives him the best shot at winning.

Ron Paul has made his position on MJ clear. If you like it, help him win.

Washington, DC: Eighty

Washington, DC: Eighty percent of Americans support the legal use of medicinal marijuana by patients, and 72 percent say that adults who use marijuana recreationally should be fined, but not jailed, according to a nationwide poll conducted last week by Time Magazine and CNN. Only 19 percent of respondents favored jailing recreational pot smokers.

debate format

It seems to me that having a debate format where they ask all the candidates the same question would be great for this campaign and the process in general. Probably why they don't.

drug laws

Personally I can't stand pot. But I hate the federal drug laws even worse. Send someone smoking a joint to prison for life? What a joke. I'm glad a presidential candidate is finally talking about this injustice. I'm sure the black community is glad, as well, as these type of drug laws have always been used as a cover to segregate and lock a huge portion of the black community away.

Wow!!! What a contrast!

This needs to be broadcast far and wide.

This gives me an idea. Why don't we take this format further and find the most contrasting stands on the issues between candidates and put them in one place where undecideds can go.

Washington doesn't need more lawyers.
It needs a doctor!

clear

The contrast couldn't be more clear.

Ron Paul's philosophy is rooted in the deepest respect for the individual, and MR's philosophy is rooted in a desire to belong to the imaginary righteousness of a group.

Great call

Not only that, but Romney wants to CONTROL said group that he is trying to belong to.
