That's right. The Senate held confirmation hearings for Lieutenant General Stanley McChrystal, slated to be the next commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan. Here's how two different news organizations reported his testimony:
The Associated Press headline read, "War in Afghanistan is 'Winnable,'" but the "Washington Independent" reported that the general had, quote, "painted a bleak picture of the Afghanistan war" and that the United States "needed to show significant progress within '18 to 24 months' or risk the war spiraling out of control."
What we know for sure is that the fighting in Afghanistan is escalating. At least 21 thousand more American troops are going in and the number of private security contractors working for the military there jumped 29 percent in the last three months alone. Get this: there are now more private security contractors in Afghanistan than there are U.S. soldiers. And as of next year, according to new Pentagon documents, the war in Afghanistan will be costing more than the war in Iraq.
It's the job of experienced, knowledgeable investigative reporters to throw a monkey wrench into the spin machine and try to make some sense of all this. Reminds me of when Bush first took office. All corporate media was uncritical of the Iraq invasion. Only when it was too late to change anything did reporters dare to ask serious questions.

How soon will it be before liberty loving Americans start fighting alongside the Taliban, 'cause perhaps we should be fighting the same enemy for only slightly different reasons...??? There are some who would have a problem shooting an American conscript and rightly so....but would have no problem shooting an American mercenary.

Bill Moyers was responsible for the 1964 "Daisy" add while on the Johnson campaign against Goldwater. LBJ won and did start and escalate the war, instead of being the peace candidate as portrayed. Now Obama - the so called peace candidate - whom Moyers supposedly also supported - turns out to be the war candidate.
Is anyone really surprised?
Obama is doing the job he was chosen to do. Read the telepromter, look good, smile and connect with the common person. Make them believe their interests are being protected. In exchange for Obama's soul, he will recieve a real nice paycheck for the rest of his life, have his wife and children taken care of, and get a great big library buildt in his home town.

Bill Moyers was a principle architect of the "Great Society"
Under Lyndon Johnson.
He did nothing to warn the public of Obama.
And now I see they got him working on trying to capture the Liberty Movement for the Democrats as is Beck-Savage-Dodd-Hedgcock-Limbaugh are all trying to capture it for the Neocons.

Privatization?

This is constantly heard by people who have read Klein's "Shock Doctrine" but what is getting truly privatized? I don't see Social Security getting privatized. I don't see energy being privatized. I don't see education or health care becoming privatized. However, I do see many things becoming NATIONALIZED. Of course, if privatization is bad then nationalization must be wonderful.

I'm mad at Moyers for not
doing better journalism during the presidential campaign. He knew Obama was a fraud and didn't make hay of it. Heck, I'm a 2-bit know it all and it took me 20 minutes on the internet to find out Obama was a fraud.
These guys never amaze me. They always come on after the fact(after they helped the crime take place) and pretend to be reporting.
