This is insane. THOUSANDS of people are out in force to protest the blatant election rigging in Iran where Ahmadinejad supposedly got 62%.

They are rioting and its been going on for at least 12 hours. The American news networks are not reporting a thing.

Check out the difference in CNN:

http://www.cnn.com (ensure you select US news)

and the international

http://edition.cnn.com

Tehran is on fire, people have been killed, thousands are rioting. Facebook, twitter and other sites have been blocked. Electricity has been shut off in Tehran, universities are being raided. THIS IS ALL HAPPENING NOW AND THE US MEDIA IS NOT SHOWING A THING!!! #CNNFail is a trending topic on Twitter because of their blatant lack of reporting.

When will we hear that the CIA is behind the riots?

US state department spoke to Twitter about rescheduling maintenance for Iran

The US State Department has revealed it asked Twitter to delay an upgrade that would have cut daytime service to Iranians disputing their election.

Protesters in Iran have been using Twitter to spread word about clashes with police despite reported efforts to block news of protests.

Iran:100,000+ pro-reform rally defies crackdown threats; 1 dead

Huge pro-reform rally defies crackdown threats

By Anna Johnson and Ali Akbar Dareini
Associated Press Writers / June 15, 2009

Gunmen have fired on opposition protesters at a massive march over alleged election fraud, killing at least one person.

TEHRAN, Iran—More than 100,000 opponents of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad defied an Interior Ministry ban Monday and streamed into central Tehran to cheer their pro-reform leader in his first public appearance since elections that he alleges were marred by fraud.

Security forces watched quietly, with shields and batons at their sides.

"This is not election. This is selection," read one English-language placard at the demonstration. Other marchers held signs proclaiming "We want our vote!" and raising their fingers in a V-for-victory salute.

"We want our president, not the one who was forced on us," said 28-year-old Sara, who gave only her first name because of fears of reprisals from authorities.

The massive display of opposition unity Monday suggested a possible shift in tactics by authorities after cracking down hard during days of rioting.

One of Mousavi's Web sites said a student protester was killed early Monday in clashes with plainclothes hard-liners in Shiraz, southern Iran. But there was no independent confirmation of the report. There also have been unconfirmed reports of unrest in other cities.

Most media are not allowed to travel beyond Terhan and thus can not independently confirm protests in other cities.

Britain and Germany joined the calls of alarm over the rising confrontations in Iran. In Paris, the Foreign Ministry summoned the Iranian ambassador to discuss the allegations of vote tampering and the violence.

Overnight, police and hard-line militia stormed the campus at the city's biggest university, ransacking dormitories and arresting dozens of students angry over what they say was mass election fraud.

Before leaving around 4 a.m., the police took away memory cards and computer software material, Akbar said, adding that dozens of students were arrested.

Great Job!

Gee, who didn't see this coming a mile away! Yhey haven't had a fair elction in Iran since the 40's. Whoever the Mullah's decide to be the head cheese is who is going to be.

I confess a fondness for Ahmadinejad

The man is a DEAD RINGER for this guy I used to work with, Larry Hughes. Even the facial hair and haircut. No joke- spittin' image. He left the office to "persue other interests" a few years ago. Now whenever anyone from the office sees Ahmadinejad on the news or in the paper we're all like "yeah, Larry went on to be the leader of Iran." and "Looks like 'ol Larry finally came out of his shell." or "There goes Larry again- that nut, always trying to get his hand on enriched uranium." We just couldn't get that with the other guy, Moussavi, who looks more like my veterinarian. No one can relate to that. Most of the people I work with dont even have pets. and the ones who do, its like fish aquariums and such.

classic disinfo

Oh just like when we toppled saddam's statue in bagdad with our own guys. instead of talking about how our own elections are rigged we talk about a very popular iranian president. why dont we talk about how ron paul was rail roaded by our own media. smeared and put down constantly. trusting the bbc is like is like trusting glenn beck or any other criminal mainstream media. I am sick and tired of disinfo scum posting this crap on this site.

I agree

The trouble in Iran is by the CIA's involvement anyways. This is what happened back in the 50's. Ron Paul has mentioned it numorous times.

This is disinformation.

I've spoken by telephone with family in Tehran. The violence is localized and obviously inspired by the spooks in the CIA. The majority support Nejad. The only reported violence during the campaign was masked-men attacking the AhmadiNejad campaign offices in Zahedan. Now the ZioNews is trying to make it look like all hell is breaking loose against AhmadiNejad.
In fact most are celebrating, telephone lines are open, internet is open. I'm emailing with no problem.
The disinformation puts the role of BBC and others in relief as agents of you-know-who.
It's a re-rerun of the 1950's Mossadeq adventure.Let's see if the Iranians take the bait or see through the shenanigans of the spooks.

This is NOT insane. This is

This is NOT insane. This is what you get with corruption in a non-apathetic environment. What would this country look like if our people cared? The TV has sedated Americans into apathy.

Follow me on Twitter http://twitter.com/Ron2012Paul

Actually

There were about 3 or 4 front page stories in the NYT about this.

This is

almost as crooked as our presidential election.

Ron Paul was buffaloed and most of us stayed in our homes and curled up in a ball. The fraud was so obvious that the guy who actually won the presidential race didn't even need a birth certificate. He didn't have to answer one question on illegal immigration. Not one question on gun rights.

Americans are quick to assume the fetal position.

It's on Headline News right now

How exactly is it not being covered?

Interesting

And this is one of the reasons they want to take away our guns. Think of the power this crowd would have if they had guns. I admire their not letting the police beat individuals. That was very impressive. We need to have more guts like that. Why should a crowd stand by and let the police beat someone without cause?

The lip of truth shall be established forever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment...Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are His delight. Prov 12:19,22

Why the US media doesn't want us to see this:

You know why they're not hyping this in the US media? Because they are SCARED. They are scared that if we knew how powerful crowds of angry people can be, that if we knew how powerful popular, easy-to-use social networking websites are in mobilizing young, angry crowds of protesters, then we might be just as inspired to violently protest and use these tactics against our own government when the economy is completely destroyed or the next time we have our own big, blatantly rigged election. Unregulated, mass communication tools scare them and they don't want us getting any ideas.

Furthermore, if the US public realizes that the Iranian people aren't cave-dwelling, desert sandpeople with giant guns, then it weakens the impact of the harsh, anti-Iran propaganda our government has been pumping out for years. Take a close look at the pictures coming out of Iran--they dress like us, the women aren't wearing head-to-toe robes, the men aren't wearing turbans or Islamic dress, they use fancy cell phones and technology like us, and Tehran looks like any other big, cosmopolitan Western city. That doen't fit the standard "Muslim look" that we have seen for years in news, and that's problematic for the propaganda creators. It's a lot harder to sell military action against people who live like us and have the same standards of living than it is against rural tribes in Afghanistan who look funny and live with their three, burqa'd 14 year-old wives and herd of goats in a dirt shack in the middle of nowhere.

Agreed- but there's also this to consider:

Ever since the "Cairo Speech", the MSM has been fawning over Obama and talking about "The Obama Effect"
http://thesibylspeaks.wordpress.com/2009/06/14/the-obama-eff...

And don't think there aren't US operatives there, fueling the fire of the "coup" for the same reason. All to make us believe that our "transformational leader" could overthrow the power of the Ayatollah.

In the end, I believe (sadly) that Ahmadinejad will not be ousted.

Doesn't This Election Look Familiar?

The disputed Iranian election and the accusation of corruption by those citizens who cry out against election manipulation should not be a surprise. This happens to every sovereign nation whose citizens give up more and more of their wealth, property and freedoms to a growing powerful central body politic in exchange for the false promise of prosperity and protection. What happened in Iran also occurred in the U.S. during George Bush’s first presidential term. The “hanging chad” controversy was not decided by the American people, but by the Supreme Court of the United States.

How is that any dissimilar from the Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s theocratic control over the Iranian people? The illusion of seven justices “debating” does not give any more authenticity of fairness than one religious leader’s decision.

It is human nature for abuse and despotism to emerge when a nation's general population gives a select group of elitists control over them. Avarice and lust is the natural outcome of unchecked power, growing like cancer on the corporeal body. The founding fathers of our country knew the temptation for exploiting the people and that is why they stressed limited authority of central government.

The Congress and the President of the United States violate the Constitution in two ways. First, by acting outside the enumerated permissions given to them by States that comprise the Union. Secondly, by blatantly ignoring the rights of individual prosperity, ownership of property and freedom guaranteed to the people. This is intolerable and must be stopped.

The people of Iran are no different than us as Americans. They are controlled by their central authority just like we are. It doesn’t matter if Iran is a theocracy any more than the United States is a republic created by indirect democracy. The citizens of both our countries will continue to be oppressed until the people revolt in some fashion. Iranians are good people. Americans are good people. It’s our respective governments that are evil.

Rebellion is a good thing in the face of tyranny.

Mousavi seeks to overturn election result: Biden casts doubt

Sun Jun 14, 2009 12:45pm EDT

* Biden casts doubt on outcome of vote:""It sure looks like the way they're suppressing speech, the way they're suppressing crowds, the way in which people are being treated, that there's some real doubt," he told NBC's "Meet the Press" when asked if Ahmadinejad had won the vote."

* Mousavi formally appeals against election result

* Tens of thousands join Ahmadinejad victory rally

* Ahmadinejad calls vote "clean and healthy" (Adds further clash in Tehran, paragraph 13)

By Parisa Hafezi and Fredrik Dahl

TEHRAN, June 14 (Reuters) - Defeated candidate Mirhossein Mousavi demanded on Sunday that Iran's presidential election be annulled and urged more protests, while tens of thousands of people hailed the victory of the hardline Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Mousavi's supporters again took to the streets after violence on Saturday, clashing with police in protests that have underscored political rifts exposed by Friday's disputed vote.

In a statement on his website, Mousavi said he had formally asked the Guardian Council, a legislative body, to cancel the election result. "I urge you, Iranian nation, to continue your nationwide protests in a peaceful and legal way," he added.

The unrest that has rocked Tehran and other cities since results were declared on Saturday is the sharpest expression of discontent against the Islamic Republic's leadership for years.

My Bull SH%T meter

Is tingling.

The US hates Iran. The Government that is.
What better way to disrupt Iran's peaceful citizens with a backed opposition party. Then play up the minority as the majority. Thus turning the worlds eye to the underdog sob story made by our media.

When the news reports it I always think the opposite. I mean come on. Like we have far and true elections in our own yard.

Have not we been down this road before people.
Its in the "How to take over foreign government" book.

Though without Ahmajin the USA wouldn't have a their monster.

A possibility. Have no clue

A possibility. Have no clue as of yet.

Check out the poll at www.cnn.com.

It asks whether or not people think the election was legitimate. 93%, almost 40,000 people, voted NO. This is on the American www.cnn.com.

after watching pepe's newscasts for realnews, then i can say that I am glad I have not donated to realnews, yet.

he lazily peices rumors together but offers nothing of any significance.

he loses all credibility when he talks about a "secret poll suggesting mousavi may win the first round by a landslide."

a secret poll?

What did all the other polls say? Are their verifiable? For what reason do I have to believe a secret poll over other polls?

UK: Iran moves to end 'Facebook revolution' after elections

June 14, 2009

Patrick Foster, Media Correspondent

The Iranian government is mounting a campaign to disrupt independent media organisations and websites that air doubts about the validity of the re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the nation's president, according to various sources.

Supporters of Mir Hussein Moussavi, the presidential challenger whom President Ahmedinejad claims to have defeated with 63.4 per cent of the vote, have emulated the internet campaign techniques used by Barack Obama to appeal to the young generation of Iranians who make up the majority of his support base.

a friend of mine sent me this message ....

"I just spoke to a mate of mine in Tehran, an opposition supporter. His personal opinion is that the election is legit. He says the opposition is predominantly upper and middle class and they are completely out of touch with the majority of the population."

If the poor were out on the streets there'd be civil war going on right now . They most definitely are not . All reports of disturbances are confined to the well to do areas.

But who knows whats really going on - we'll have to wait and see.

I say good for them fighting for their freedom to choose fairly . . .

My question is though, why, when we know the elections are fixed in the US, why do WE not riot and fight for our freedoms? I, for the life of me, don't understand what it will take for us to stand up to our government in no uncertain terms . . .

BBC says election broadcasts disrupted from Iran

The BBC said Sunday that the satellites it uses to broadcast in Persian were being jammed from Iran, disrupting its reports on the hotly-disputed presidential election.
6-14-09 09:00amMDT

The corporation said television and radio services had been affected from 1245 GMT Friday onwards by "heavy electronic jamming" which had become "progressively worse".

Satellite technicians had traced the interference to Iran, it said.

The satellites its uses in the Middle East to broadcast BBC Persian television to Iran were being affected, meaning that audiences in Iran, the Middle East and Europe would likely experience disruption.

BBC Arabic television and other language services had also experienced transmission problems, the corporation said.

"Any attempt to block BBC Persian television is wrong and against international treaties on satellite communication. Whoever is attempting the blocking should stop it now," said BBC World Service director Peter Horrocks.
