You are responsible because you did not do enough to help elect a President and a Congress that would not lie to America, and then based upon those lies, illegally order the military to invade Iraq.

Warriors provided you the opportunity to say everything you just said in this forum. Warriors that fought for Washington and Jackson. In their name as their living representative, I chastise you for disparaging their service. Without a finger to pull the trigger, a gun is nothing more than a harmless mass of metal. Without a Congress to send our warriors into battle they are just men like you and me.

The point to the photos of my Iraq war deployment are to show the establishment Republicans that they don’t hold a monopoly on patriotism and that when I speak out against our illegal empire, I--unlike most of them--am not an "arm chair" quarter back. They like to say that everyone against the war are hippies and draft dodgers...I am not a hippy or a draft dodger, nor a conscientious objector. I am a citizen soldier. I am the very picture of what Republican Hawks like to hold up as their model of virtuous American military power. So just how long does their argument hold in support of an illegal empire when guys like me are calling them out?

We live in a nation of laws, and our founders provided us a way to hold our leadership politically accountable for its actions. That method does not include disparate insurrections against the government. See Daniel Shay. I as an individual do not have the ability to enforce the Constitution on my own…there is a political process that must be followed for such action to be legitimate. Thus, when I am called out to fight, I will fight. And with the credibility that can only come from someone who has witnessed first hand the valor of our veterans being squandered by the illegal actions of our Congress, I will call upon the American People to wake up and hold them accountable.

By the way, war is not illegal if it is properly declared by our Congress under the authority of the Constitution. (Art. I Sec 8). And soldiers are not war criminals unless they break the international laws of war agreed upon at the Geneva Convention and ratified by our Senate. You saying that I am guilty of killing innocents, you calling me a war criminal does not make it so. I, and millions like me have fought with courage and honor when we were called by the American People to do so and we deserve better than to have men like you transfer your impotent rage at our Congress onto us. It would be a far better use of your effort to instead join with me in attempting to replace representatives who understand neither the Constitution they have sworn to uphold nor the horrors of war they so cavalierly unleash.
