Conference call tonight - Grassroots legislative strategy and news
Just got this in my e-mail. These calls are usually very informative. -humanic
Hosted by The National Veterans Committee on Constitutional Affairs in cooperation with Restore The Republic
(This call occurs every Tues. eve. @ 7:30 Eastern time.)
Hosted by Aaron Bolinger, Legislative Director of RTR & NVCCA, & Mid-Atlantic Regional Coordinator for RTR
ALL Legislative activists nationwide are encouraged to participate!
Agenda, June 16, 2009
It shall be a very busy conference this week! Activists in Maine are coming on to interact with leadership from South Carolina. In Maine, an activist team is working on a dual strategy for putting state-level investigations of 911 on the front-burner in the upcoming legislative season. This has been an NVCCA objective, and Maine seems to have the team capable of generating a great deal of white noise from the public on it. (See the document on state 911 investigations in the legislative document container at www.nvcca.net )
An update from Pennsylvania will be given regarding the class-action lawsuit against PennDOT for unauthorized collection of biometric data of private citizens. Also, we have GOOD NEWS from the state senate Communications & Technology committee) who recently voted 10-0 in favor of THREE bills attacking Real ID and its related nuances! Activists in ALL STATES should follow the progress of this combined legal action, and duplicate it where teams are organized (or getting there) for the purpose.
Also in PA, an activist managed to get elected to a city council (by write-in vote), and he is bringing to the council a model local-level NVCCA resolution against Real ID. Video of the council presentation (9 minutes) is here. Watch this video, and think how easy it might be to duplicate this action in your region!
One way to make very fast forward progress would be to have our more astute activists run for any and all local offices (as Sam has proven). Once in the driving seat, the model legislation we have been developing can be fast-tracked! If you can do so, put your name in some local hat, and launch your campaign. We will talk about some strategies for that tonight as well.
This will be a call you don’t want to miss!
Keep the focus on our packages of ready-to-go items of model legislation, issue briefs, etc. See the “documents” page on www.nvcca.net for the downloads (NEW issue briefs AND model legislation are there now). Pick your favorite subject, drill down on it, and run with the info. Videos teaching about the state legislative process, and showing some of our campaigns, can be found on the “media” page of the site, along with several videos geared toward state legislators on assorted subjects. Order DVD’s direct from http://aaron.feettothefire.us/ on many legislative subjects (more coming soon).
Each person involved in our activities should become an “expert” on one or more of these issues. When a team converges on the state house, with several issues, each person then multiplies their presence with the others. Don’t try to educate a legislator on “hard money” (for example), unless you thoroughly understand the subject, and can answer questions. Drill down on YOUR favorite subject(s), become well versed in it (them), and THEN start working as a teacher for your representative on those subjects for which you can present the material in a comprehensive manner.
These are our primary documents being used to teach state legislators about their rights and duties. The goal is distribution of ONE DVD video, and ONE booklet to EACH of America’s 10,000 (approx.) state legislators on each of the issues we are working. Can you help in YOUR state??? Contact aaron@nvcca.net if you wish to assist.
This is the call to keep up on all the events & materials we are making available for you to use, and what is going on in our states and activist centers. Educating state legislators is our mission. Good leadership in our states is the key to making it happen. This call is for YOU!
The National Legislative Conference Call is open to all, and helps train those in the movement for positive political action at the state and local levels on a number of issues (money, Real ID, 911 Truth, and many more). RTR and NVCCA coordinators work directly in the state capitols of America with elected officials, to draft and support pro-constitution legislative change. (Training videos are available in the “media” page at www.nvcca.net ) We do bill drafting, document preparation & distribution, and teach the Constitution to those who have sworn to uphold it.
Invite coalition partners, post info about it around the boards, etc.
