My children have all been home schooled. My son graduated last year and is going to take the GED test tomorrow so he can find work and take college courses. I quit school after the 10th grade some 30 years ago and have decided to go with him and get my GED also. Now you know my dirty little secret. I hope I don't embarrass myself.

Good luck to you and your

Good luck to you and your son!

Excellent!

Believe me you are going to be very happy that you did this. I dropped out of Junior College and it bugged me. After I was married I went back and finished, I only needed a few credits. I am the only one in my family with a two year college degree. LOL Just go for it and best of luck.

You'll do fine

Go for it, and best wishes.
I barely passed HS...Probably because I skipped too many classes.
I hung out with a bad element..the librarian, and shelves full of books.
Shame on me..I had to go to summer school, to get that sheepskin.

hmm. i wonder why they call it a sheepskin? LOL

A person can be a college educated idiot---I have seen plenty

of them in my day. An inquiring mind and common sense, which you obviously have, is more valuable in the long run.
For some reason many that graduate with a degree seem to think that they must know way more than those who haven't gone to college--
Do they think that the minute we get out of high school we stopped learning? Most of the folks on Daily Paul are Still learning with an open mind and dedication to Liberty.

Wow, thanks for the encouragement.

My oldest daughter passed it with ease but she is a very book smart person and always aced every test she ever took. I have always been more of a common sense street smart type person. I'll let you all know how it turns out when we get the results.

Thanks again

you are one hell of a lot

you are one hell of a lot smarter than jzneff the highly educated, enlightened intellectual thats for sure! funny.. most of the people I know who are rich had very small educations compared the e"enlightened" intelectualls... lmao... congrats on getting your ged.. believe me, all you missed was a bunch statist government school run BS.. that is probably the reason why you support and Love Ron Paul.. you were not brainwashed as a teen!

45, semi retired, house, land, money in the bank, money coming in and smart enough to know that Ron Paul is the man. Not to bad for a dropout. I am only doing this to set a better example for my children and possibly take a college course or two. And just maybe to prove something to myself also.

Many blessings to you and yours.

Ummm, you might be too smart...

I will skip the long story, but I dropped out my senior year and walked over and took the test. To be honest, I was mad. I had been taking calculus and reading Chaucer and Homer and learning Latin and German... I remember leaving thinking "I could have dropped out in 3rd grade and passed that."

So why do I say this? I know a very smart gal who flunked it twice. After the second time, we talked and she was overthinking it. She kept thinking "That is too easy, I am missing something" and making it hard, and then getting it wrong. They really are asking you questions that stupid...

Now, my caveat, this was 30 years ago... they MIGHT have changed the test since then.

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

No Worries:

You are not the Lone Ranger out there. Many people left the government schools for many reasons. Some people just aren't cut out for the indoctrination.
I should have been a 76 grad, and left early to work. Got a GED in 83, and started college in 89 at the age of 30. Quite frankly, I am better for it because my motivations were different than they were as a teen.
Good luck.

Does GED really stand for "Good Enough, Dude"?

Just joking with you. I'm guessing it'll be a piece of cake. Good luck anyway.

LOL, don't worry about passing the GED

test. I too, after one year of homeschooling, decided that I should get my GED too, because I didn't graduate either. I did, the next day after calling about it, and no time to study for it at all. There were NO questions on the test that I wasn't already teaching my 5th and 7th grader the year previously. I got the highest grade in the state on the test, and took half the time required. I suspect you will do the same.

not off topic

DR PAUL loves home schooling and it is daily Paul, good luck on test but something tells me you wont need it.
