This is exactly why Dr. Paul's H.R. 1207 is so important and must be made law, it will force the GAO and the FED to show not just one set of books (the Budget) but also the other set the (Comprehensive Annual Financial Report). The Budget is the record of spending and the CAFR is the record of revenue ... do you see?
i guess i was just hoping it would be this easy.

not sure those two things are equal.
question tho: since i'm too lazy to read the entire annual report from any of these years, can you tell me if any of the material in the annual report covers any of the following:
(1) transactions for or with a foreign central bank, government of a foreign country, or nonprivate international financing organization;
(2) deliberations, decisions, or actions on monetary policy matters, including discount window operations, reserves of member banks, securities credit, interest on deposits, and open market operations;
(3) transactions made under the direction of the Federal Open Market Committee; or
(4) a part of a discussion or communication among or between members of the Board of Governors and officers and employees of the Federal Reserve System related to clauses (1)–(3) of this subsection.

I feel glad now that we don't need an audit of the Fed. The Board of Governors audits the Board of Governors so everything is peachy. Who needs to know about their transactions with foreign countries? Of course, since they provide us with this detailed annual report, we probably just need to ask, right? Hey Bernanke! Put that in the 2009 report, would ya? You the man!

I imagine the report provided "by the Fed, on the Fed" is about like Arthur Anderson's annual reporting on Enron. Sure looks good to the gulliable. I don't think this is what Dr. Paul has in mind.

yes, it is worth reading through. If you don't think the P&L of the bank that sets our monetary policy is* important, I dont know what to say to you. Just because you assume this is by the Fed, on the Fed, doesn't mean you're correct. Audits are compiled by independant companies, you are infering that these are internally compiled which according to the documents, is not the case.
It doesn't mean you have to trust the source, but knowing what they report is key to understanding where the accountability falls.

That would be a summary.........
An audit in any business, would take those lines and then tell you what was actually done with the funds. What was purchased, from who. What was loaned, to who....

It is one thing to know that we had $550 billion in central bank liquidity swaps, $450 billion in term auction credit and $74 billion to "other LLC's" but where did all of that money go?
I am referring to table 6B on page 420 out of 520.
