And what is the Daily Paul?
People complain about the Daily Paul, of course. They say they "wouldn't invite their friends here," and that kind of misunderstanding - I must admit - hurts. Too much weird stuff, they say. Too many conspiracy theories, etc. But this is my response, as to why I run the site the way I do and why I think it is valuable:

The Daily Paul is a true grassroots community that engages in an ongoing, unmediated, running conversation about the things that are important to us. There is no corporate or ideological mediation between you and the 30,000 other daily visitors to the site. If you want to ask a question, get or share an opinion, or read the thoughts of the community of others like you, you have access to that at the Daily Paul.

How many others like you do you know in your own neighborhood, among your own friends? If you're like me, it is not many. On the Daily Paul, you are free to educate, speculate, and constructively criticize the world you live in, from (yes) chem trails to 911, to the Federal Reserve, the one party system, the corporate controlled media, and even the C4L.

What I try to do with this site is put Ron Paul's principles of freedom liberty, and kindness, understanding and compassion into action. You may not agree with everything everyone says on this site. You may not be into "conspiracy theories," but you don't have to be.

The point is that if we live in a free society, we can peacefully coexist with one another as we do here (for the most part) on the Daily Paul. Ron Paul, as he modestly states himself, is simply the messenger. But Ron Paul has both an explicit and an implicit message. The explicit message is the one that we're all familiar with: Liberty, economic and political freedom, and sound money. His implicit message is just as important, and is visible in the way he carries himself: Humble. Moral. Kind. Caring. Compassionate. Exercising forbearance, even with political enemies.

We can all learn something from the example that Dr. Paul sets. The kind of community I try to foster at the Daily Paul is based on his example. We can co-exist with our differences as long as we maintain a basic, human respect for one another.

Don't get me wrong.... I hate the:
Christian, Athiest war thread
The "Abortion doctor gets shot in the head, What's Ron think about it" threads
The Nazi cops gone wild threads.
The "As a Catholic, I am offended" threads
The self titled: "I need attention today threads"
The whatever sensational title you can think of, without caring about the content, threads.
The " I'm going to subject everyone to my personal crusade, whether they like it or not", threads.
Even the 9/11 fight threads (which I have been guilty of taking part in)

I have learned to ignore most of the things I find offensive or purposefully divisive, and am getting pretty good at staying out of them. I still have an occasional relapse, but I am making an effort.

There seems to be a handful of folks here that want to go against what the owner has stated, can be discussed. Some outright think they can run the site better than the owner, and even make posts about the content, and what should and shouldn't, be discussed. When they don't get their way they mock the owner, and the members by making
"Someone is beaming things at me that make my thing go limp" ( tin foil hat) threads.
They constantly barge into discussions, and start either making blanket insults "idiots" "kooks" "crazies", or start chastising the participants like they own the place.

I am not defending the "hotheads". Some have been warned, and should know by now. Myself included.
But there are those IMO, that think they can also control the content by pushing the other members to the edge, all while staying in the posting guidelines. They are manipulative, and sneaky in their methods, and it causes just as much or more harm, than someone cussing someone out.

There also seem to be a couple of mods, that are out of touch with Ron Paul, AND MN's principles. One has been accused of deleting anything having to do with legalization issues, and one has been accused of deleting and locking down threads that aren't comfortable to their world view.
I am not trying to start trouble here. In fact, my last couple of threads have attempted to unite.

But I think there needs to be some clarification about content, both to the mods, and some of the folks that want to impose their control on the DP.

The hot heads need to be checked, and the antagonists REALLY need to be shown the door, just to provide even handedness.

I really hate giving this issue airtime. In fact I wrote something about it in a previous thread when the issue first came up.

Well, I hate to be one of the ones tugging on your pants leg, Michael. I know you have so much more to do than play baby sitter.
I feel THIS is a boil that needs to be lanced, so the DP can move forward with a clarified direction.

Is it just an action oriented site?
Is it just an information oriented site?
Are the "Alex Jones" people welcome?

Should it be just the "mainstreamers" that are allowed here?.

Could you either repost what you wrote on the donation page?
Or make tweeks to it? Something?
I think I understood what you meant originally, but there are some that just don't seem to get it, and they NEED to be reminded.

BTW, I love the DP, just the way it is. It is the most pleasing format graphically, and the way topics can drop as they are ignored, is smart as well.
Sorry, but RPF's format, is like needles to my eye.

Moderators should do a bit of a better job at snuffing out that behavior.

If you do not believe there are true trolls in the midst, you have your head in the sand.

If it were my site, I would have a rule against trolling and it would be enforced.

I love this site regardless and folks need to make sure they stay on balance. If a website (!) is getting you in knots, it may be time to adjust your web surfing or overall activity for a few days and take a breather. Think and reflect.

And if any folks reading this are just here to stir the pot or willfully mislead, I ask you from a place a true sincerity to reflect on the root of your actions, the true Godlessness of it (or goodlessness for any atheists), and just leave the people be.

What is the first thing anyone would say to another when dealing with Trolls and Flamers? I think more people should start practicing how to use the ignore button in their heads. Everyone is quick to point out hot heads and Trolls but what do the majority of pointers do> Feed the Hotheads and Trolls. Sure didn't take long to forget what brought us all together in the first place..OK proceed to keep fighting amongst ourselves. Brilliant!!

I know that there are people posting here whose goal it is to make the DP go away. Those people are not Devon, oruval, SIERRA, Armor777, and Sarge. This forum is being manipulated and I hope that you, as a mod, and Michael, as the owner, realize this. Despite anyone's opinions about Alex Jones, he is right about one thing at least: There is a war on for your mind.
