Wow...

$4.8 trillion? - (I'm referring to the comment below)

I tried to verify this and I found this:
http://www.federalreserve.gov/releases/h41/Current/

So $2.05 trillion are reserves for the banks... which is what I was following....

...then there is this $2.75 trillion:

"Marketable securities held in custody for foreign
official and international accounts (1) "

That totals $4.8 trilllion.. but I think the $2.75 trillion refer to the custody of securities of China, Japan, Oil nations etc.....

So is there really another $2.75 trillion? Is this a mistake?

I would think the federal reserve now holds just over $2 trillion...... if someone could explain the $4.8 trillion that would be great... doesn't quite make sense to me...

6%

And the fed is earning an annual sum of 6% of it's holdings.

Saudi Arabia

We owe them a whole lot of money.

Soooo...

In which category do the $134B in US Treasury bearer bonds, which were discovered in a suitcase belonging to two Japanese men attempting to cross the border into Swtzerland from Italy, belong? Any discussion of this matter, or the potential consequences, in the US mainstream media yet?

I think most likely it is

I think most likely it is either the FED dealing with two sets of books or an Asian country trying to get rid of the dollar before it collapses.

Highway robbery in my opinion...

Check out the Wall Street Journal for March 30th. They have an article about the Treasury announcing the amount of TARP funds still available...coincidentally it is the same amount that was being smuggled by the two Japanese men in Italy. What are the odds that they'd be the same EXACT amount of money???

How much did the Fed. make out of thin air?

Sure wish I had a money maker in my basement.

About 44% of all the debt.

About 44% of all the debt. It makes you think that we might need to audit the largest creditor in American history, the FEdEral reSERVE. I wonder if anyone has used this as marketing for HR 1207?

"Oil Exporters" - like a little nation of their own

But I must agree with the "mouse in your pocket" comment below... I cut no deals with any of those folks.

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

The million dollar question

The million dollar question is who do we owe the rest to. Ourselves?

The next question is, IF CONgress has the power to coin/print (whatever) money then why do we need to borrow at all? Makes no sense.

OUR Debt? OUR debt?

Do you have a mouse in your pocket?

I posted an article from

I posted an article from CNBC.com (http://www.dailypaul.com/node/87603) a couple months ago showing the same thing, except that this article doesn't list the #1 creditor to the U.S.:

THE FEDERAL RESERVE - $4.8 Trillion

Big surprise there!

Good info

I've never seen such a list before.

Thanks.

I Have Seen Such A List ...

In 2004 presidential candidate Kerry blurted out a statement that "you cant negotiate with your bankers when the payment is past due" in refernece to a question about the chinese manipulating the currency exchanges. Of course he later retracted the statement.
Since then things have gotten progresivly worse.
We are owned.
Recently the chinese, the worlds largest exporters, glutting global markets with product both subsidized and targeted, announced that when it came to their own stimulus program, it would be BUY CHINESE ... no exceptions. They will not import so much as a paper clip.
How much complaining have you heard from world governments?
not a whimper.
Wanna bet the chinese hold the debt of the rest of the fiat world also?
Practice saying yes mastah because we are owned.
