We gathered up members of C4L, CSA, 9-12, Libertarians, and more and confronted our congressman Tim Bishop at a town hall meeting to ask some questions.

He refuses to have another Town Hall Meeting!

I was there and it really was interesting to see only about 15-20 people actually in support of this guy. I called his office the other day to push him on 1207 (he claims that he hasn't decided between 1207 and the bill Kucinich has, basically BS'ing) and his aid said he won't be having anymore town hall meeting because the last one was to chaotic!

You didn't really think he was going to listen, and act on your suggestions, did you?

I admire you for getting in his face though. I am not sure what else will work with these guys, other than fear. Just like they use it to control us.

But the video would have been much more entertaining, if the entire crowd rushed the stage and started pulling his limbs off, and eating them, like in one of those zombie movies.

They are trying to Spin this story by saying Bishop confronted the protestors. What nonsense! They need to understand that we are in a new political era - one in which propaganda, empty rhetoric and false left vs. right debates just don't cut it anymore.

The people knew much more about what's going on then he appears to. Every time he opened his mouth he inserted his foot.

I just wished this crowd would have allowed him to insert both feet before interrupting him.

I'm sure he was sorry he attended this meeting and probably can't wait to get back to DC with all his fellow cronies in the House where they continually pat each other on the back for job well done. Because there were certainly no pats on the back at that meeting and he didn't deserve any. Especially, when he confused the reference to the oath of office with the pledge of allegiance

And I thought it was great that there were that many people who were outraged and active to actually go out and confront your Congressman at a town hall meeting. However, you guys did it in a very unprofessional matter. It seemed like everyone in attendance was yelling the whole time without asking legitimate questions or letting him answer. Please next time you go out to do something like this, allow the man to answer your questions, and refute them with good information. No more with the yelling and causing a spectical.

The lady asked about his oath to uphold and defend the Constitution ,the law of the land ,and he refers to the pledge of allengience since when do we swear an oath to the pledge hell most schools aren,t even aloud to say that anymore.

This is what you get when you never mention the conspiracies. They don't let the poor guy answer a question. They basically just wanted to hear themselves talk.
That is not the way to get anything accomplished. I'm impressed with the turnout, but they could have really used the opportunity for good instead of ill-informed yelling. Do you think that guy feels like he's been confronted by a bunch of kooks or a bunch of informed, influential voters?
I mean no harm, and I know they're mad, but I found that a little embarassing.

As much as I'd like to it would accomplish nothing. These people sink themselves if they're allowed to speak--Pelosi couldn't defend her position on anything if given a real chance to. Please don't get me wrong, I fully support this action and appreciate the anger, I just think intelligent discussion is far better than angry word grenades from every direction. What winds up happening is politicians either get yelled at or they preach to the choir. They consider the choir their constituents and the yellers the lunatic fringe.
Again, it was a great event and I know it must have felt good to let it all out, but as far as accomplishing anything, I have my doubts. I mean, they never even gave him a chance to DODGE a question--even that would have been a little something to use in the future.

Clearly the Rep is a pompous statist clown, but these fools need to know that there is serious understanding amongst the people that they are being screwed on both ends.

Even if this guy sloughs off the actual specific criticism, he will not be able to just ignore the clearly growing righteous indignation evidenced by this gathering of independent Americans.

I just don't think angry mobs tend to be very effective agents of change. If they had actually engaged him they may have actually reached him. As it stands, he's in defensive mode.
Let's flip the coin for an example. Ron Paul goes to a town hall meeting and the room is full of angry socialists who absolutely can't imagine why he ALWAYS votes with the constitution and not the popular opinion of the media. Instead of allowing him to explain his position and then discuss the alternative views intelligently, they simply yelled at him and threw out more questions they didn't allow him to answer. Do you think that would be fine too? It works both ways and I think we have a much easier to understand and express message than any "liberal" politician has. These people could have probably tore this guy up point by point, but in my opinion, they blew their chance. I highly doubt he'll put that town high on his come back tour list either.
This is serious business, I have never seen yelling fix anything.
