One bad thing about legalizing marijuana at this time...

0 votes

is it will make too many people fall in the Obama line. So many people use marijuana that it may blind many to Obama's ultimate agenda. The worst thing that could happen for liberty right now is for Obama to gain favorability by being the man that legalizes pot while he back doors all of our other freedoms. They aren't legalizing it for anything other than political gain and save face. This is all part of their ultimate game, I do believe. I agree with legalization, but not with Obama's signature on it.

I don't smoke it

it makes me too paranoid, but I believe it is medicine. I believe it works for some people and it does not work for others, and yes I am all for legalization. Some of the greatest, most trustworthy friends I have, smoke it everyday, and they function just as good, if not better than anybody else. What I am saying is that most people right now do not have any idea that the Federal Reserve is robbing us blind, smokers and nonsmokers. People only pay attention to things they think affect them. Right now, not many people realize how bad the Fed affects their lives. They do however realize that they want to smoke pot, and that legalizing it will help them. They do not however realize how ending the Fed will completely change their lives, including the fact that without the Fed which I am sure has ties to the pharmeceutical industry in one shape or form, would probably grant us all the freedoms we want including ending Marijuana prohibition. Ending the Fed will create huge realizations of many freedoms that have been taken from us. Imagine all your federal income tax back, how much more pot could you smoke? Pot smokers know that pot is illegal, they don't know the income tax is. Catch my drift now?

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must. like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.-Thomas Paine

The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!

misconception...

... Marijuana makes you paranoid... I think it isn't the effects of the bud... but the effects of "the war on drugs"; the anxiety is caused by knowing that you're holding something which is illegal and if you're seen with it, could face prison time and large fines...etc...

also... if you ask me, if it turns out that we've been lied to by our gov't about marijuana for so many decades, for it to finally come clean and explain that it just a plant, naturally occurring on the earth, imagine how the proverbial blinders will begin to come off... the more corruption is exposed and the status quo is dismantled, the truths will become evident.

all liberties will be preserved through diligence, and word of mouth... pot is a social herb... go talk to folks...

That seems to be the way all his other programs are going to work.

Let him take the credit

If Obama does something good, then let him take the credit for it. But I don't think it's going to happen. Obama is a tool of the status quo.

I do not agree.

It is my right to do whatever I want with MY body !!!

Why would I need an authorization to smoke whatever I want ?

He could do the smart thing

and pass the buck to the States. Just declare from now on State law will supercede federal law when it comes to Marijuana.

Dude!

Dude, common, it aint gotta be all that BAD! We all must suffer, rep. or dems, it dont matter.

What matters is that its been 50 years since Dwight Eisenhower and now we finally have our very own black president. How cool is this.

Also, for a black man, and not a white man to sign medical marijuana into legalization would mean everything! HAHA.

I vote yes!

So, you are saying that

So, you are saying that smoking pot makes people apathetic, or maybe blind to injustices?

How is that stereotype any different than any other different *false* stereotype that people have conceived about pot smokers.

I don't buy into it. Regardless of who signs the legalization bill, the signing of that bill will not make most people blind to other injustices.

The 420 community already knows were this turkey's head is at...

he'll gain NO points by legalizing pot now. He's a coke / crack freak...and as is typical with these scumbags ... he cannot be trusted.

I completely disagree...

I will take legalization, though seriously doubtful, from whatever signature gives us that freedom. The sheep will remain to be sheep, though ever slightly more open about being stoned sheep. Those that are awake and mad as hell at what is happening about our government...will still be pissed off, though ever slightly more open about being stoned...pissed off homeland terrawrist...Guess what camp I will be in.

I just had to sign in and put my 2cents in...not because of what I consider PERSONALLY a ridiculous statement...but because of the most kickass Big Lebowski shot below....kudos phathead.

I do not support your

I do not support your premise.
Marijuana legalization will have a positive effect upon society. No longer will we be arresting people for using this rather safe drug and we can now focus on putting away real dangerous criminals behind bars instead of casual users. I do not buy the thought that usage will cloud one's judgment to just allow Obama to get away with this or that because people have used vices for thousands of years and it is still a choice if they want to understand the role of government or not. For instance, if people are apathetic, there are countless other means people will utilize to distract them whether it is watching sports, movies, CNN, reading romance novels, playing video games, or whatever else they'll do to separate themselves from reality.

He just made it illegal to

He just made it illegal to sell flavored blunt wraps. I highly doubt pot will be legalized while he is President.

Obviously you are not a golfer

Nobody that has smoked...(maybe nobody that smokes on a regular basis would be better) would never write such a mindless account of a stoner's state of mind. Unless you have just finished some mad train wreck keef Richards style and wanted to play a joke on us.

I beg to differ...legalize it and more people will open their eyes.

1 think back to animal house...the dumb kid gets multiple universes explained to him and actually understands a bit of the concept. Where as more than likely would have been unwilling to hear a "way out there" point of view.

2 it takes u 4 seconds to get high (wether u know it at that point in time or not, but your baked!) and it should be over in 3 hours...after that you are normal thinking human being and perfectly capable of detecting obama's game.

3 Doubtful a sober America would respond diffidently than a high America...why would any smoker want to wait? It would really be nice not to have to worry about being harassed by the cops. It would really be nice to have better supply. It would really be nice to "just dull the pain a little" while watching happy go lucky flush this country down the toilet.

4 by stating this you hurt the movement for legalization because one of our arguments is the number of smokers wouldn't increase significantly. Those that choose to smoke now would be the same smokers after the passage...meaning the laws are worthless and they aren't stopping anyone from getting thier hands on some beautiful buds. All we are asking for is just to remove a law we ignore anyway to avoid cruel and unusual punishment for smoking a natural unprocessed flower from a weed that Thomas Jefferson was able to enjoy (and did, frequently; tooth aches and migraines I think were his reasons).

5 the more people see how retarded the laws we live under today; the more they will see "freedom really works" or it will help them "believe in freedom" if we can give them working examples.

Hey, careful, man, there's a beverage here!

I smell what they are stepping in, but I don't buy it. I just wanted to say congrats on the great Big Lebowski line...it shouldn't be wasted and that was perfect usage if you ask me. My favorite film of all time...

His point was that people will think Obama is the man

and give him a big pass. No more no less. You make excellent point if this was about why legalizing pot is good--in general. Tog's point was legalizing it right now may offer Obama enough popular support to really pull some doozies.

damn bubbleberry

i get it, but still disagree...the economy will be so destroyed it won't matter. THen again FDR Gaves us back our booze just before he stole our gold!

its a toss up, but he would have to be pretty desperate for political points. And the only way he could score points is if he did as a campaign promise in 2012. In which case it would be null and void because RP could discredit all of his credibility on campaign promises while truely touting legalization.

You might ask why I don't consider any chance of him seeing political benefit if he manages to pull off legalizing in this term? Because the smokers will all be at home lighting one up for our main man obama...

--"what day is it? is today a week day?"
**"no man. its election day"
--"You want to go vote? or something?"
**"Naw, I really don't want to get off this couch...I just got comfortable man."

And i most say many of points from above still apply even though this new shit has come to light.

It's like what Lenin said...

you look for the person who will benefit, and, uh, uh...

PPP is the bud for me...raise a patch and you'll be free !!!

tools and impression. Used well a quality tool in a master's hand can produce a masterpiece. The same tool, in unwieldy hands is a potential disaster. And that all can be flipped around and still apply.
I don't trust the schemes of politicians that turn on a dime for no seeming reason, they may be turning to me, but what will it cost a third party to turn them back. That's not service, that's greed.

The worst thing?

Look- if weed is legalized in my lifetime- Ill buy a bag of Skittles and a 2 litre Hawaiian Punch for everyone who sees this thread.

The "pot card" is what politicians play to get support from that demographic for some other future legislation. No legislator ever expects it'll actually pass.

is it

really at the top of the agenda right now? How about they just lighten up on it.

No. I believe MaryJ is a tool of enlightenment. I think it will

be just the opposite.

Yet if executed to late they would appear as appeasing the mob.
Do it to early and appear evil in th eyes of the anti-drug lobby.
The ones that see the outlawing of drug use as government revenue.

I could see them attempting it when the time are tough to get the masses to calm down. I fear though by that point it would be to late.
