Dear Big Brother,
I would like to personally thank you for making the 18-24 yr generation a bunch of lazy turds. You see, by handing out educations along with money to stay in school, you have created a bunch of kids that think everything is easy. Nothing needs to be worked for.. just get good grades and good ole big brother will pay your way.
Its absolutely disgusting. Im trying to hire a college age kid and I have yet to find one that understands the value of hard work. Having been on my own since my teens and NEVER taken a hand out, I do understand what hard work is.
These kids that keep responding to my ads just blow me away. Nothing is handed to you, oh... unless big brother sees fit anyway.
I enjoy hard work. I enjoy seeing a project come together and executed. I enjoy the fruits of my labor and I really enjoy paying and teaching people younger than me. What I dont enjoy is seeing kids that think all they need in life is a brain and big brothers wallet to live.
So heres to you Bro... Now go kiss my a$$~

Well said.
I remember working while in High School and being jealous of my peers because they didn't have jobs and were free to do whatever they wanted during the summer. I'm 25 now and boy am I glad that I have the working experience I have accumulated since the age of 14. I look at those that I have grown up with and realize that most of them don't have what it takes to pull off a real hard days work. My father is constantly telling me stories of the fresh-from-college kids who are hired in his company that are clueless as to what to do in their field. My Dad basically has to spoon feed the information to them. Not only that, but most of these "brilliant" students are only taught to plug numbers in a computer, which is good and fine, but if the computers are shut down because of malfunctioning or whatever, they're like lost children in a department store. Most students in the 18-24 range that I know of would never even imagine themselves doing some hard, dirty, physical labor; not even raking leaves or shoveling a driveway because most are brought up to believe that machines will one day do all our menial chores and that humans can fart around and watch MTV. It's come to the point that I almost feel bad for them.
I'm not completely knocking college, seeing as I'm back in it, but it is evident that it's main purpose is to push out a cookie-cutter workforce. It's great to have book smarts but one must keep it balanced with real work experience, which is what this 18-24 generation is certainly lacking.
Working at a University, I see a LOT of what you are talking....
.....about. However, it comes down to 25%/75%. There was a national study done on college cheating about 4-5 years ago, right after Kansas State had their cheating fiasco which resulted in the students rioting for degrees/grades after the school said almost everyone was cheating and would not get grades/diplomas. Anyway, the national average for cheating was 75%. The University I work at thought that could not be true so they contracted their own study. The new study came back and said "Be happy with 75%".
You can see the same percentages in the faculty, banking, government etc. with adults.
I think a lot of the problem is that children are given little free time to learn to make their own decisions. Our school systems have become drug dens ( I mean legal drugs) and a system of trying to make everyone "equal", which is impossible. Most parents don't have and/or take the time to teach children morals, so they are learning them at school.
Only about 25% of children are becoming responsible adults. As is quite obvious, that number will be dropping quickly from here on.
Recently the faculty realized that when the University gave a raise, it would be $100 a month, for everyone, staff/faculty/administration. Faculty were eligible for raises staff were not at other time, plus they got paid more to begin with. But of course, after 20 years the faculty figured out what was going on, and complained that they deserved more. The staff thought we deserved more to (what with inflation, and a raise every few years, a hundred is not much). But the staff never dreamed of taking money from the faculty, but guess what? The faculty stole 55% of the staffs pay raises, the last two times. Then they could not figure out why the staff was upset (blowback). After all, the faculty explains daily how they are better than everyone else, and deserve more than the people that earn something.
I tried to explain that the faculty is teaching by example. They could not understand why they had a 75% cheating rate, while yelling at the top of their voices that the rules/laws don't apply to them because they are better than everyone else. If you don't believe it just look at the college degrees they bought which prove they are better than everyone else. If you still don't believe it just ask someone with college degrees, they will confirm they are better than everyone else. (Yeah, this is what they call logic). Then the faculty cannot figure out why the students refuse to do the work, reading, papers, attend class and then demand good grades and degrees. Again, I am a student and staff member and have taught school, so I see things from a fuller scope than most. It is not pretty. About 25% of degrees are earned in America, the rest are bought or presented but not earned.
They have recently lowered the passing rate in primary school from 60% ( a grade of D) to 52% (an F) and were bragging that 6% more students passed (they lowered the rate 8%, so 8% more should have graduated).
Now they are talking about "raising standards again" by lowering the passing grade to 50%. So we can have schools meet "No Child Left Behind". Where do I live? Texas, home of good ole' George "Mr. Education" Bush!!!!! Our society is based on hypocrisy. Sorry for rambling. This is what I think about for 8 hours at work, while being told why I don't deserve the money I work for.
There's no doubt in todays
There's no doubt in todays world the "entertainers" are held up as false idols/role models. The sole reason for living, that is promoted by government education/tv/and unfortunately most parents,is the acquirement of objects & the attainment of paper money.
Today it is too easy to be entertained from morning to night,no thinking involved and far less critical thinking leads to what we have.A populace that has no knowledge in the areas that are critical to a free country/society.No questioning of why it has to be this way,but one of blind obedience. There seems to be no fight left in the majority,no knowledge in self-government,just a continued election of "kings" or "rulers"(local, state,or federal) to set the limits on what everyone can & can't do.
"It would seem impossible that an intelligent people with the faculty of reading and right of thinking should continue much longer to slumber under the pupilage of an interested aristocracy of priests and lawyers, persuading them to distrust themselves and to let them think for them... Awaken them from this voluntary degradation of mind! Restore them to a due estimate of themselves and their fellow citizens, and a just abhorrence of the falsehoods and artifices which have seduced them!" --Thomas Jefferson to Thomas Seymour, 1807

hey, i'm 24!
I reserve the right to govern myself.
I reserve the right to govern myself.
from some of the stuff...
that you post I'd agree that you do a good job at that. I wish at your age I had a handle on what you do. Alas, I'm a late bloomer...keep it up. Represent!

As a statistic in the 18-24
As a statistic in the 18-24 year old range, the case you explained is pretty true here as well. Although I wouldn't classify myself as a lazy worker, I'm sure all the vaccinations, economic situation, corrupt government, genetically modified food, mercury in high fructose cs probably isn't helping ;) Not to mention all of the 2012 propaganda that new age worshipers have fallen for which will make it the "best" crisis our government will ever have to grow from.

It sounds like Big Brother...
is effectively implementing the plan...to our detriment.
Good luck, there are some out there who see the light.
