Why are otherwise-smart people BABBLING MORONS when govt is involved ?

How can people love that which is so hateful ?
How can people have faith in that which is so blatantly evil ?
I consider this to be one of the great mysteries of life.
But I'm working on a theory:
There appears to be something about very *concept*
of govt that cripples the logical-thought processes
of most otherwise-intelligent people.
It reminds me of something I read in a book:
Every turntable has a specific resonance frequency.
And if you were to play a recording of that frequency
on the turntable, then it would destroy itself.

It is possible that government brain laundries--public schools--have a considerable influence here, especially since they have a largely captive audience spanning several generations.
I believe that it was the Jesuits who said " give me a child when he is seven, and he will be mine for life".
Fortunately, these pathological and deeply disfunctional institutions are so inept, corrupt, and worthless that they are no longer successful at the mass brainwashing of their inmates as they once were, and more people , both here and overseas, are coming to see the enormous superiority of liberty, property, and peace. We have to help educate our fellow citizens, and fellow human beings to help them reject their brainwashing.

almost everyone has ingested a certain amount of the indoctrination, even if they tried to resist it.

I don't really know, but heck out the Stanley Milgram experiment. It might give some insight.
Because gov't is violence
Everyone viscerally understands on some level that government is violence. They know if they cause trouble the government will come get them. They know if they don't pay their taxes the government will come get them. They know the people around them who make more money than them are also accountable in the same way to the government, or at least most assume it to be so. The government has the power to twist everyone's arm to pay taxes, fill out forms, fight in the military, and on and on and on. Vicarious aspirations of power. Lots and lots of reason. Ridiculous eduction. Lots of reasons.
This astute post brings to mind 2 (depressing) things:
1) The Stockholm Syndrome
2) Obedient dogs who love/defend their master,
regardless of how ignorant and cruel they may be.
