How has yesterday's voting made you feel?
Submitted by Tyler Durden on Sat, 06/27/2009 - 04:00
Yesterday's "Cap and Trade" bill has probably pissed you all off. Are you looking to leave this country soon, or are you more motivated to fight this mechanism?
I'm personally leaning towards the middle. I can see both sides, leaving the country and staying here for "liberty". The more $#|+ like this that keeps happening, the more I'm leaning towards both sides. Why don't the politicians see it? Some of 1207's co-sponsors voted Aye (yes). So, not all of them have truly seen the light.
So the future lays in our hands. Are we going to truly fight for Ron Paul's stances on major issues? Or are we going to sit back and watch modern history unfold, in a way that we already see?

I'm livid, and intend at this point to stay
in what was supposed to be MY COUNTRY! Not theirs to flush down the potty! I will do what I can to promote proactive peaceful change by educating other people and being involved with the C4L. I think one thing we can ALL DO RIGHT NOW is to make a flyer for the reps of each state and bluntly point out their voting record and what it means, for example, to the average Washingtonian, if you are doing that state! That flyer needs to be passed out during the tea parties, etc. and other highly populated areas. I think the constituents certainly have a right to know what their representatives have been up! Have they been trying to uphold the rule of law and their constituent's best interest OR have they decided to become lackey's to Wall Street AKA the Federal Reserve and other corporate entities?! With simple, pertinent facts in front of them, the constituents can plainly see just where THEIR REP STANDS!
betty
The vote went as I expected.

As sad as it truly makes me
As sad as it truly makes me to say it, I feel there is really little hope in the near future for this country. Not only did it pass the house but my fellow americans embraced it with open arms. I am so confused as what it now means to be an "American."
As much arm twisting...
as it took to pass the house tells me it has no hope in passing the senate especially if the economy and the job losses are as bad or worse than they are now. The Senate is scheduled totake up this legislation in October. We shall see.

There's a cooling trend in
They wanna push this global tax thru before the cooling trend gets noticed.
I'm motivated to work
even harder on convincing the Senators to vote nay and also changing some minds and votes http://www.dailypaul.com/node/97723
Don't give up the fat lady hasn't sung yet.
I remember somewhere that
it would take all the cars on the Earth 500000 years to produce the same amount of emissions as one volcanic eruption does. I remember the electric car they had that went 200 miles on one charge and had a top speed of 100 MPH, check it out the movie is called "Who Killed the Electric Car?'' I also remember someone saying the IMF will recieve all revenues from this Cap and Trade stuff, this last statement I am making I don't know if it is true or not.

It is a worldly takeover so I agree with Mike below
There will be nowhere to escape these monsters. I am choosing to focus on HR1207 for now, even though they have just found a new way to take more money from us and give it to the IMF through this cap and trade. Seems like it is one step forward, one step back for us. We are up against some of the smartest and of course the wealthiest people in the world, so let's all strap our boots on because it is gonna get muddy.

I choose 1.
Either way no difference to me.Personally I have had it with these thieves. How many NO calls do you suppose they got and still voted for this?Sounds like the bailout all over again.I heard Boehner say he only had 85 people call in supporting this and 1800 against.
Who do you think your congressman is listening to?
I'll give ya a hint;it's not you.
Let's make em listen. We need to come up with a major movement or action to make them listen.Any ideas?
I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees...
I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees...
1 but a non violent fight
I pick 1, but we are losing this war Mike, it's like the Terminator movies
How can we take down skynet? We cant resort to violence because that is against many of our morals, besides anyone who thinks they could take on the government is committing suicide.
We clearly will never get control of the media, or even a fair chance to speak up. What do we do?
splat
I'm sick to my stomach about yesterday, but hopeful that we can
1- Get these Republican fakes back on the side of the people by July 2nd
2- Get the Senate to deny the Cap and Trade
3- Pass HR1207
4- Have either Ron Paul or a similiar candidate run in 2012 and win
If none of these work, I might consider leaving, this country is in freefall mode right now, I'm not trying to go splat
I feel the same way I did when:
1. They marginalized Ron Paul - blatently, without regard.
2. A man was voted in as president who most likely isn't a natural born citizen and is a self-ascribed communist - blatently, without regard.
3. They passed the stimulus bill even though the amount of people who contacted their representatives was the largest outcry against such a bill EVER - blatently, without regard.
4. They passed the GIVE Act which is just a selective service bill dressed in another name - even though the people were greatly opposed to it - blatently, without regard.
I'll stop there... the plan is on high speed...this rogue administration, a president touted as a "rock star" has just the right distractions to make the kind of headway needed to bring all things to a climax.

I am going to stay
Where can you really run to? My family has lived in New Mexico for hundreds of years-since before the colonists. If you can't live your way of life in your homeland what hope do you have of living it somewhere else? If liberty fails in America running will only do you good in the short term.
The same entities and mindset that disregard nature . . .
and result in massive displacement of species and extinction are the same one's wanting to own and control all lands of the earth.
This is like watching your wife get raped and killed, and your children kidnapped and then you are forced to pay for the show, and then work for the rest of your life in subservency to these decieptful and broken brained banksters, who undoubtly call "Blackwater" there best friend.

Contrary to most on this
Contrary to most on this site I have a major concern with the current rate of increase in the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere. The entire evidence for my concerns are depicted in the following graph.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Co2-temperature-plot.svg
Although the graph is from Wiki it has nothing to do with Wiki. It shows historical CO2 (right axis) and reconstructed temperature (as a difference from the mean temperature for the last 100 years) records based on Antarctic ice cores, providing data for the last 800,000 years.
Even more alarming than this chart is the rate if increase of CO2 in the atmosphere.
I do not know what effects these levels of CO2 will have on the climate but I do think that this evidence should not be ignored.
BUT...this whole cap and trade cr**p is a nightmare. I feel so helpless and enslaved after yesterday's vote.
My biggest problem with it is the whole tax thing. The fact that the government is going to make money off of this makes me sick. If the bill merely left the trading of the carbon credits to the market I could understand it.
Say each ton of carbon released into the air was given a certain value. And each individual was allotted a given number of tonnes per year to release into the air. Than we would all try to minimize our fossil fuel burning so we could sell our excess credits to someone that needed them. This would be a net wash on the economy but it would put an incentive on reducing carbon emissions. It would also provide incentives for alternate energy innovations.
The fact that the government is going to profit on this makes me wonder about the urgency or even the need for this. Anything that the US Government has done or is doing for at least the last 9 years has been for the sole benefit of special interest groups. This bill is really a complete sabotage of this Country. I am not a nationalist and hate the word patriot but the supporters of this legislation should be tried for treason.
I am always compelled to paste this...
and assume you are well versed in the astronomical changes in process and the electro-magnetic effects of these transits on the Solar System as a whole. As for me, I am unable to register an opinion on the forces at work beyond our atmosphere, but I am able to use logic to place a BIG question mark as the cause of the changes we are experiencing. Magma is electromagnetically sensitive and quite affected by the magnetic push and pull of the Galaxy. I think that it will continue to be, inexplicably so, as we transit the ecliptic...must we be taxed for this?
SUN: The Sun’s magnetic field is over 230 percent stronger now than it was at the beginning of the 1900s, and its overall energetic activity has sizably increased, creating a frenzy of activity that continues to embarrass NASA’s official predictions.
VENUS: Venus is now glowing in the dark, as is Jupiter’s moon Io.
EARTH: In the last 30 years, Earth’s icecaps have thinned out by as much as 40 percent. Quite inexplicably, just since 1997 the structure of the Earth has shifted from being slightly more egg-shaped, or elongated at the poles, to more pumpkin-shaped, or flattened at the poles. No one at NASA has even bothered to try to explain this yet. Link to full article at NASA.
MARS: The icecaps of Mars noticeably melted just within one year, causing 50-percent changes in surface features. Atmospheric density had risen by 200 percent above previous observations as of 1997.
JUPITER: Jupiter has become so highly energized that it is now surrounded by a visibly glowing donut tube of energy in the path of the moon Io. The size of Jupiter’s magnetic field has more than doubled since 1992.
SATURN: Saturn’s polar regions have been noticeably brightening, and its magnetic field strength increasing.
URANUS: According to NASA’s Voyager II space probe, Uranus and Neptune both appear to have had recent magnetic pole shifts – 60 degrees for Uranus and 50 for Neptune.
NEPTUNE: Neptune has become 40 percent brighter in infrared since 1996, and is fully 100-percent brighter in certain areas. Also, Neptune’s moon Triton has had a “very large percentage increase” in atmospheric pressure and temperature, comparable to a 22-degree Fahrenheit increase on Earth.
PLUTO: As of September 2002, Pluto has experienced a 300-percent increase in its atmospheric pressure in the last 14 years, while also becoming noticeably darker in color.**“The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them.” ~ Mark Twain **

Quite interesting!
My thoughts exactly!
Interesting enough to hesitate on our current trajectory towards UN Funding for yet one more of man's supposed faux pas...wouldn't you agree?

100%
I could not agree with you more!
I feel the same way. I'm not concerned about CO2 emissions
I just feel that clean energy with no pollution and from a renewable source makes really good sense. I've been a strong advocate of "Going Green" for a long long time. I am also very disappointed that this new tax has been veiled in "green" while doing absolutely nothing to help or encourage anyone to actually "go green". I like clean air, clean water and cheap, abundent energy. Too bad they came up with a great way to make these things exceptionally costly.

Yeah...
And even if we all agreed that we did have an environment problem this bill pretty much eliminates any chance we would have had to solve the problem by greedily imposing a tax on EVERYBODY.
It really creeps me out!
You mistakenly think this bill is about the environment.
It has very little to do with it, it's about taking more of your money. Getting greener energy could easily be done with tax credits and incentives, but that would mean they wouldn't get any more of our money.
Thomas Jefferson once said, "The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground."
Well, I guess he called that one.
A Republic, If You Can Keep It
I think
the fact that the bill did not have anything to do with the environment was the whole point of my post.
Maybe you like fairytales.
Maybe you match to much TV. Maybe you gossip with friends more than you should. I don't know and don't really care. What I do care about however is the enormous lack of research on your part. GLOBAL WARMING IS A SCAM .... A HOAX. No I will not provide links, nor expound on it. Do your own research. Actually open a science book.
This has become my largest distraction. All the people who sit on their thumbs. Research nothing. Don't take the time to think through a subject.
It's not just here either ..... I got a short fuse for people on the street as well when they start regurgitating nonsense, half truths and crap off the TV. I am slowly loosing faith in people( the herd).

Who are you replying to? I hope your'e not spewing this research crap at me because you are the one that has not done on iota worth of research.
I did not ask you for a link nor did I ask you to do any research. In fact, I presented evidence that beyond a shadow of a doubt proves that we have a CO2 problem. I never brought up global warming either. I have already spent hours trying dispute my own evidence so I could remotely understand why most self-proclaimed Conservatives get so emotional and angry about this topic. Claiming that science is on your side is as ridiculous as the claim that the arctic ice area is growing.

Ummm... that would be science.
