Activists call for Senate to stop the largest tax increase in history.
RENO, Nevada - Nevadans are joining citizens across the U.S. in protest of the House passing vote yesterday of the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009.
Proponents of the Waxman-Markey Bill claim it "will eventually cut America's production of greenhouse gases by 17 percent by 2020, and 83 percent by 2050," but the science on man-made global warming is clearly not yet settled. The Cap-and-Trade Bill is supposed to create alternative energy sources and cleaner technologies, as well as more efficient building standards. Barack Obama promised his cap and trade plan would create thousands of green jobs. But it may well cost far more jobs than it purports to create, and it gives the federal government unprecedented control of every aspect of American lives.
Debbie Landis of AngerisBrewing.com called the Waxman-Markey bill, "the most destructive bill to hit the floor... ever." "We're going to stand outside, and let our neighbors and our Senators know that we are angry! We've had enough of the nonstop spending spree in Washington. This bill is little more than an energy tax that will further cripple our economy and cost hard-working families double what they pay in energy costs already. It's destructive and shameful, and rammed through on a Friday night, when everyone was watching the endless Michael Jackson retrospectives. It's simply a massive tax under the guise of protecting our environment."
The latest, impromptu version of a "Tea Party" is "PINK & GREEN" because " even though clean, green energy would be nice, we refuse to let the efforts to create "clean, green energy" destroy our entire nation, and our entire economy, with such flimsy, expert-refuted science," said Gia Gallegos, co-organizer of AngerisBrewing.com.
Why Pink?
